Hi Every time I open a private message , or someone sends me a private message in Yahoo messenger, a blank web page and two "your system has virus detected" pop ups appear. I have deleted yahoo and loaded from scratch to no avail

You have an ad-trojan. Download spybot (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-2) and/or ad-aware (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022-10319876.html?tag=lst-0-2). Be sure to get the updated definitions files (check for updates). Clean your pc...

Whatever you do, don't fall for the "your pc has a virus detected" crap. It may have a virus and certainy does have an ad-trojan, but the stuff being pushed is scumware. It'll crap up you PC with more ad-trojans in "exchange" for scanning your PC for viruses (which it probably doesn't do). Stick to reputable virus scanners (mcafee (http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?cid=10371) and norton (http://www.symantec.com/downloads/) are two).
