It is sounding like I am too soft on the rear tires. Will making those rears a little harder cut down on scrub in the corner?

View Full Version : [[[ Rc4less Foam Tires ]]] BrandO 01-17-2005, 09:07 AM It is sounding like I am too soft on the rear tires. Will making those rears a little harder cut down on scrub in the corner? tfrahm 01-17-2005, 10:01 AM BrandO -- I'm running at least 5 points firmer on my durometer with the RC4Less tires than I've ever run before, and corner speed is up. The car is more "free" without being "loose". The firmer foam reduces rolling resisitance, and the unique RC4Less compounds have more bite for a given firmness than other brands. Tommygun43 01-17-2005, 02:27 PM Phil B do you run flat track or banked? davepull 01-17-2005, 04:05 PM if there is any question the the durablity of the tires check out what my dog did to one last night. I am very impressed the foam didn't peel this shows just how strong the are. philb1 01-17-2005, 08:37 PM I run flat tracks, same combo on tracks from 115 to 200 ft runlines, would love to get on some banks. BRDRACING 01-19-2005, 10:59 AM Got my tire order the other day and can't wait to use them! BRDRACING 02-14-2005, 02:42 PM Big thanks goes out to Bruce at RC4Less. It took me some time to figure the tire combo out. I tq'd and won 19turn sportsman in the Snowbirds Club race on them and finished 3rd in the b-main in 19turn. THANK YOU BRUCE FOR ALL YOUR HELP brooks tfrahm 02-17-2005, 08:35 PM BRD/Brooks -- What combo did you end up running in 19t...? DynoMoHum 02-19-2005, 09:50 AM I ordered some RC4Less tires this past Monday, received them on Friday... I've been battling with a ill handling car for quite some time now. I had lots of problems, not really related to tires, however I did have to practicaly cry when I was bustin rims left and right when I'd hit the walls... I can't remember the last time I made it though a night of racing without breaking at least one rim. So cracking rims was the main reason I wanted to persue some new tires. Currently I'm running a 4 cell Novak SS 4300 class, which is just a bit slower then a 19T ARCOR type adjustable timing class/motor. I had been running Jaco Grays on everything except the right front, and was runing a black up there. That combo seemed about as good as I could get things. However as I said, I had a really ill handling car, that was bouncing alot though the corners, which certianly was no fault of my tires. This past week I did alot of work on my car, put some heavier oil in my center shock, softened up my side springs, made a few tweaks to the front end, etc... So, my RC4less tires were going on a all new setup for me. I purchased tan (35) and gray(40) tires, and have enough to run either compound on any perticular tire. I first tried running a Tan on the left front, with grays everywhere else. I figured that combo would see if I could get away with running the RC4 grays in back, and if that didn't work I could go towards the tans back there in later heats. It proved to be too loose for me that way, so the second heat I put a tan on the left rear, hoping that would give me a little more bite in the rear, as well as help me get a bit more traction for when I get on the power. That combo was just the ticket, and is what I ran the rest of the night. For the third heat and the main, I took a bit of wing off, and still had pleanty of rear bite. For the first two heats I never hit the wall, so I had no chance to see if the rims were any stronger then my old tires. However in the third heat and main I was getting a little bolder and scraped the walls a few times as I was trying to make the track a bit wider then what it was... No realy hard hits, but at least I had some hits to see what was going to happen to the rims... Well nothing happend to the rims, no chunking of foam either. I'm not sure my experiance proved anything perticular, however I was happy to come away from my first night out with my RC4Less tires with no breakage or chunkage.... Oh... I qualified second and won my class (there were only 3 of us)... my car was/is handling about as well as it ever has. Good enough that I could actualy drive the thing... I can't contribute it all to the RC4Less tires, but they sure didn't hurt me any. Looking back at it, the only thing I regret is, that I didn't try running Grays all the way around, I think that may have actualy worked, had I tried that... I guess I'll have something to try next week, and there should be more competition next week as well. So far, nothing but thumbs up for the RC4Less tires from me. David Butts 02-19-2005, 10:19 AM Other than their ontrack performance the thing I like best about the RC4L tires is that they work well with my paint schemes. Can't wait for next year, It was a BLAST!!!! Peter I got it all figured out now. Next year all my graphics will be painted on in the inside. Try snatchin'em off then. Is it next year yet? What a time Da'birds is. Come on February 06. Be there with your RC4LESS(A totally uncompensated endorsement) tires of course or read about it here and weep. BRDRACING 02-21-2005, 08:30 AM Here are the 2 tire combo's that I used tq'd and won club race with black (RF) Mag (LF) Mag (RR) Pink (LR) when the bit came up in the track I ran: Black (RF) Tan (LF) Tan (RR) Cream (LF). The car was fast all weekend. But my snowbirds luck just has not cam around yet. LOL thank you Brooks David Butts 02-21-2005, 02:02 PM I ran the same set of tires every lap the car made at this years birds. Never had any measurable wear either. Fronts started and ended at 2.11 and the rears 2.20. I used a purple rf, Magenta lf, Pink lr and a magenta rr. I did clean them after every run with commercial tire/rubber cleaner and used Paragon 1/2 inside rf and full the other three. If I had it to do all over again I really dont think I would change my compound choice. Maybe just go up a rate on side shock springs as the bite came up. It was definately the best outing and car I've had to date on carpet. I think it had to have been the tires:thumbsup: stesh 02-22-2005, 12:57 PM I need some help I have 2 short clamp hub and neither one will go on the axel and I just removed the longer one off of the axel what do I need to do to fix this problem?? SS tfrahm 02-22-2005, 02:16 PM stesh -- Only two things come to mind... 1) Make sure there are no "burrs" around the edges of the hub where it slides onto the axle... 2) Make sure you FULLY loosen the clamping screws on the hub... Other than that, I've never had a problem... Sorry... RC4less 03-02-2005, 02:37 PM I realize this is a Tire thread but I wanted to post that I am back in stock on the 1/4 x 3/8 flanged rear ceramic bearings. I had been out for about 3 weeks on that particular bearing size and am now back in full stock. Also the touring car guys who were looking for those 10 x 15mm bearings for their X-Ray and other cars I have those in stock as well. Thanks Bruce RC4less 03-05-2005, 02:39 PM Since I'm posting inventory updates here, we are also back in stock on Putnam Greens and Blues after a few weeks of being out. Thanks and I appreciate everyone's paitence. Bt BRDRACING 03-07-2005, 09:30 AM You are the man Bruce! tfrahm 03-15-2005, 11:40 AM I know it's "only" local club racing, but as of Sunday, RC4Less Orange wheels have the 19turn track record at Columbia Thunder in Columbia, Missouri... Nothing fancy, just Bruce's recommended "3 Pinks and a Purple" setup -- Hooked Up! THANKS Bruce! David Butts 03-16-2005, 01:51 PM Only several days left until the 2005 Speedway spectacular. I'll go out on a limb and predict a sweep of all the electric classes by the mighty orange wheel equipped cars. Rumors are some guys are painting there orange wheels to hide the fact they are using them from their sponsors. Orange shows up real good in pictures. Hmm? Should spoke counting and wheel scratching be added to tech inspection? All kidding aside I'm really looking forward to this weekend and good luck to everyone no matter who's stuff you run. DynoMoHum 03-16-2005, 02:20 PM No track records from me... but then I'm not running the three pinks and a purple... :( However the main reason I wanted to try RC4Less tires is durablity...(with good performance)... I have something to report on durablity.... I've been running my RC4less tires for several weeks yet, no problems untill this past week. I cut a right front somehow... not sure how, but the real report is... I hit the wall so hard last week that I busted both the lower and uper arms of my right front, but the tire and rim survived the blow... My wheel, king pin, axle, and ohter stuff went floping down the track after the incendent, but the wheel it self was fine. The cut I mentioned happed after this, and I still don't know how that happend... but I tell you what... I am impressed with the durablity of these rims... If I'd had a Jaco on there, I'd proboably be cracked in half... tfrahm 03-16-2005, 09:30 PM Dyno -- I love the low wear characteristics of the RC4Less foams... I have a setup on my stock class 4-cell car that have been run for about 6 weekends now, and they have only worn a tiny bit ... Started out at 2.30" and they are down to 2.25" for the rears, with the fronts about the same wear... I love that! Tires that WORK, foam that LASTS A LONG TIME, and wheels that just NEVER BREAK (club racing can be a bit, uh... "rough")... Like you, I first tried the RC4Less wheels because I was tired of throwing good foams away because the JACO rims had cracked and broken from "normal" racing contact... Great value depends on performance, durability, and quality -- RC4Less gave me all of that... cneyedog 03-17-2005, 05:29 PM I plan on running them for the first time this weekend in the Speedway Spectacular @ Daytona International Speedway. I have only heard great things about these tires. I hope Bruce can make it down for the race. RC4less 03-17-2005, 06:38 PM Sad to report that I can't make it down. I love this race every year and wish my work was such that I could make it but I just couldn't get things to work out. I"ve got my scouts out and will be keeping a count on the orange in the various mains. Hey Tom and Dyno, thanks for the props on the tough wheels. Those who have seen my driving style know why they are tough and rugged. First rule was they had to withstand my driving. Good Luck to all at Daytona! Bt cneyedog 03-18-2005, 09:59 PM Bruce, Just to let ya know , there are ALOT of those orange rims @ Daytona....... David Butts 03-20-2005, 07:08 PM Bruce, Just to let ya know , there are ALOT of those orange rims @ Daytona....... Like Rich said. There were a bunch O orange rims in Daytona over this weekend. One racer in particular, Tom Pedano from Jacksonville Fl. breaks out the big can o whip butt(tm) and Tq's and wins both the hotly contested stock and 19t classes with an old car and some new tires. Not exactly a walk in the park either as the best of the best oval racers from the southeast were there and they were not taking their beating laying down. Congrats to Tom and everyone else who chose RC4LESS tires. RC4less 03-20-2005, 09:44 PM Thanks Dave & Rich. The reports I've been receiving sounds like a lot of orange on the track and some good results. Congrats to Tom Pedano. Sounds like he cleaned house in a couple of very tough A-Mains. Thanks to everyone else who chose RC4LESS Foams. I've got my high priced spotter suposed to give me the complete run down when he gets back to Jax. I bet he is already in the bed asleep! LOL Bt Tom Pedano 03-21-2005, 08:06 AM Thanks Bruce for making such a great tire, I would not have been able to do it with out them! Strong wheels, great traction and low wear, you are the man.Ditto that,Bruce! I'm still running the same set I bought nearly 3 months ago! BTW,thanks for the 1/12 tips! -George stesh 03-21-2005, 11:14 PM Bruce what is the best traction compound to use on your tires, I am running a real high bite track carpet? I am having trouble with traction rolls. Any help? I am running cream LF, black RF and white rear both this turn in best but every once and a while it traction rolls. Steve RC4less 03-22-2005, 05:20 AM Hi Stesh, for carpet on the white rears I tend to stay away from Paragon and go with TQ Mod or Jack the Gripper. Paragon just softens the rubber so much. The Black RF can stand the Paragon but it too will go soft unless you wash it out after 2 or 3 runs. Traction Rolls, I would look at your rear side springs and firm them up a step or two on spring rate. Plus make sure your ride height is as low as allowed by your track. There have been several discussions on setup on Hobby Talk and I'm sure traction rolls have been discussed (personally they make me sick!!uggg) One of the best web pages for general setup information is my friend Steve Salvas' (owner of TQ Cells) page. Check it out: http://www3.sympatico.ca/tqcells/setup.htm . katf1sh 03-23-2005, 10:06 PM i would just like to welcome myself to the rc4less family. i had run out of tires for the speedway race..it forced me to buy a set from big dog r/c...that set never came off my car after that! extremely good tire wear, very nice rims and fast on the race track! 9where it counts) i have to say bruce has a winner! now if he only has room at his house for me? he he davepull 03-23-2005, 10:29 PM ahhhhhhh Katf1sh glad you are on board. these tires are simply the best out there. cneyedog 03-24-2005, 07:03 AM WOOOO WOOOO, All board! ...... Yup, the orange wheeled tires ROCK. I've never had a set last me the entire qualifying, practice and mains at the Speedway Spectacular until using RC4LESS Tires. Thanks Bruce ! Brooks Brooks Kat and I just figured you were all motor ! ....... The Speedway Spectacular was the deciding factor, I bought some and my car handled awesome (I needed more rip aka motor though) and the tire wear was excellent. I was sold ! rowdyrj 03-24-2005, 05:38 PM Ran your tires on the front of my truck after the first set wore out after three practice run a 2 race run in Daytona. The tires never came of the truck after that and still had a ton of gripe without any fun wear pattern. Should have gotton a set for my brushless car. I'm sold on your tires when I race on asphalt from now on. katf1sh 03-24-2005, 05:53 PM tom and steve i ran 3 magentas and a purple at the speedway race..what flavors did you guys run? davepull 03-24-2005, 05:59 PM 3 pinks and a purple. that is the set up for hw. if you want to free it up a bit magenta rr. katf1sh 03-24-2005, 06:51 PM dave have you tried magenta rears left and right side at hobby world? car was stuck at speedway race with 3 magentas.. David Butts 03-24-2005, 07:16 PM dave have you tried magenta rears left and right side at hobby world? car was stuck at speedway race with 3 magentas.. Shhhhhh. Dont let the Kat outta the bag. davepull 03-24-2005, 08:06 PM dave have you tried magenta rears left and right side at hobby world? car was stuck at speedway race with 3 magentas.. yah you get alot more forward bite with the pinks. the one thing you have to remember is these tires are harder than thother brands. our purple is a 45 while trc and jaco are 40. i know Tom P and Bear ran the 3 pinks. Bear played with the Magenta rr. I was running 3 pinks at sticklands which was good for 5.1'S Chris Garland 03-24-2005, 08:18 PM Shhhhhh. Dont let the Kat outta the bag. I ran mag rears with purple fronts and it was awful at HW. put a pink on the LF and it was awful.. 3 pinks and a purple. is the best formula. I ran 3 pinks and a purple at stricklands and so did Tom P and Steve P. we were the only stock cars to run a 5.6 /5.7. and qualifed 123 katf1sh 03-24-2005, 08:22 PM ok than i will try both at hobby world and strickland next time out. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2013, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
