View Full Version : [[[ Rc4less Foam Tires ]]]
tfrahm 12-20-2004, 01:20 PM I've noticed others haven't had much luck in getting answers to questions like this, but I'll try my luck....
What RC4Less foam would replace JACO/Murdock Black Dot rears?
What RC4Less foam would replace JACO White Dot rears?
What RC4Less foam would replace JACO Green Dot rears?
I know I can compare durometer readings, but I'd rather hear from RACERS who have actually run these tires and can actually say that 'x' handles just like 'y', etc...
RC4less 12-20-2004, 05:41 PM Good Job RC5150 That K&N is a tough nut to crack for sure.
Hey Dave, and I thought you only turned left & right. There is hope for your yet!! Thanks for the good words.
20TN40 - That might be something in the future but not on the books right now
Thanks Sponge!!

Yeah I was curiuous about the same thing
HOOPD1 12-20-2004, 06:19 PM I bet phil B could answer your question tfram, phil runs the orange hoops and has ran every other rc tire made since the begining of time;)
So come on phil hook a brother up with the 411.Im intrested also.
philb1 12-20-2004, 09:56 PM Have not run Jaco for a while, but here is how I would compare them;
Blacks= RC4Less are firmer than Jacos of late, have run RC4L black on RR without the car being loose though(4 cell stock)
Whites=RC4Less vs Jaco, have not run Bruce's white yet, would recommend the cream compound.
Green=Hard to compare synthetic to exotic, would suggest tan compound.
Am sure Bruce can help you out with compounds, drop him an email or call.
RC4less 12-23-2004, 09:12 AM Hey guys check out the Snowbird Nationals link. We have posted the 2005 Snowbird Bounty Match. If you are going to the Birds you need to read this post and the post on the www.rc4less.com home page.
Thanks and have a Merry Christmas!

travymoto1 12-23-2004, 11:27 AM Bruce, I've been running the orange meats for a few sets now and they have been great. Just curious though...why no 30 shore natural rubber rear tires? To compare to say a TRC or Jaco "Pink".
btw...I've starting to practice my cross body blocks, suplex, and turnbuckle head smash etc. lol :D
RC4less 12-23-2004, 12:42 PM Hi Trav, are you checking your TRC & Jaco's with a MaxMod durometer gauge, or some other kind of meter that reads in shore ratings?
The turnbuckle head smash shounds like a winner!!!
Bt
travymoto1 12-23-2004, 04:23 PM BT, to be honest I'm just going of of what the manufacture states. TRC's pink is supposedly 30 shore, Jaco ? , and your pink is 35? What I am really looking for is the equivalent of Jaco grey, pink, black , and purple. any imput would be great.
travymoto1@cs.com
RC4less 12-23-2004, 06:00 PM Trav I don't have a direct conversion chart from Shore ratings over to durometer except normally a 30 shore would be a 35 durometer. Here is a link from a previous thread regarding durometer readings from manufacturer. Would be a good starting point to compare to.
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=73735&highlight=durometer
.
travymoto1 12-23-2004, 06:08 PM BT, that sheds some light on the matter. I was always under the impression that shore was the unit of measurement and a durometer was the tool to check it.
mbeach2k 12-25-2004, 08:34 PM at our track so far no one has been able to get the orange hoops work, i'm sure that the tires are ok, but i'm wondering if it might be the older style ozite that might be the problem or if pargon ground effects is just not the right compound. is anyone else having a problem on a certain type of carpet or compound?????
travymoto1 12-25-2004, 09:13 PM Bruce can chime in, but he told me that the RC4less exotics have 5% more rubber than other brands. This gives his tires a bit more grip and about 20% more durability than the other brands. Therefore you can usually run a harder tire an still get as much grip as another brands tire.
You may be running too soft a tire all the way around + the ground effects = a tight condition.? or loose whe you try to grap too much wheel and the car breaks loose?
tfrahm 12-28-2004, 11:10 AM OK -- I now have some of the RC4Less tires... LOVE the orange wheels!
(off topic: Bruce is the man -- my package was sent Priority Mail, and on CHRISTMAS DAY, at 10:00 AM, they delivered it! The guy didn't look like Santa, and his pickup was burgandy, not red, but WOOHOO!)
Anyway -- I have a little over a week before the next race date... My tire truer is an old COBRA 'Trackside' (uses 6-cell pack and an old stock motor for power) -- how hard will these sexy tires be to true down? From "feel", my guess is they could be hard to cut (good news in terms of long wear, not so good for my tired truer)...
Anybody ever convert a COBRA 'Trackside' to a more robust power source?
davepull 12-28-2004, 11:25 AM intergy sells a truer now for like 90 bucks it's the blue one,
http://integy.automated-shops.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=2335&p_catid=57&sid=4wSJJh10QJjI8eH-35104237079.50
one of the guys at the track has it and it works pretty good. they have a couple of others that are price well too.
http://integy.automated-shops.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_main.html?p_catid=57
as far as the tires go they cut pretty good. I don't trust my truers cutting blade enough to do the size and go method. so I just alittle off each rear takes alittle more time but who cares.
davepull 12-28-2004, 11:27 AM oh yah bruce's arbor is the best one out there. will work with everything but T&M rears.
tfrahm 12-28-2004, 11:55 AM intergy sells a truer now for like 90 bucks it's the blue one,
The truer looks like it only has a touring car hex arbor...?
Q-ball 12-28-2004, 12:47 PM I'm publicly thanking Bruce for the wonderful customer service I/my wife received when calling to place an order.
My wife always says I'm hard to buy presents for, so I gave her a list of 6-7 things from RC4less, the part numbers, and Bruce's phone number.
She called and placed and order. She knows nothing about R/C cars. Bruce was very helpful. The next day she got a call from Bruce telling her she had won the drawing for the month and that he would be including more items in the package. She was nervous not knowing what extra should be included, and Bruce told her he'd take care of everything.
It pays to have someone who knows what racers need. What a great Christmas morning to get more than I expected. Both my wife and I were VERY pleased with the order we placed.
Thanks Bruce!
travymoto1 12-28-2004, 01:01 PM The truer looks like it only has a touring car hex arbor...?
it comes w/ a touring arbor. You have to buy one for onroad/oval like the RC4less arbor that does 10th and 12th scales
Tommygun43 12-28-2004, 07:43 PM at our track so far no one has been able to get the orange hoops work, i'm sure that the tires are ok, but i'm wondering if it might be the older style ozite that might be the problem or if pargon ground effects is just not the right compound. is anyone else having a problem on a certain type of carpet or compound?????
MBEACH please check your PM's!! And yes they work good on every type of carpet :D.

davepull 12-28-2004, 08:08 PM tommy do you have some info to share?
Tommygun43 12-28-2004, 08:34 PM just thought I might be able to help Mbeach. Especially if he runs a ksg + flat track, which I believe he does.
I'm not bragging but I will say I have ran these tires at 5 tracks and won at 3 of them. They worked very good at the other 2 tracks. Sunday I won and set a new track record in Massena NY, I was the only one with RC4L tires (22 cars in stock). 2 racers there were in the "A" at last years 'Birds and one was in the "B"...some very fast racers. They took me some time to figure out but I believe I'm faster now with these than what I was running before. My point is if anyone is having trouble getting them to work it is most likely the car not the tires or of course just the wrong hardness of tire for the track.
Also, I've been having VERY good results using PHILB1's method of applying traction compound and wiping off immediately. The tires hardly soften up AT ALL when using this method and traction is still excellent. So thanks to Phil for the suggestion.
Tom
davepull 12-28-2004, 08:58 PM so what compounds are you running?
Tommygun43 12-28-2004, 10:08 PM Most of the time cream lefts and gray rights, or a slight variation like a white LR or black RF.
davepull 12-28-2004, 10:17 PM I am running his tires on asphalt now but I had no idea what to run at the birds. I think that with the high amount of traction that builds up there black rights cream or tan lefts. What do you think?
Tommygun43 12-28-2004, 10:39 PM I really think cream lefts and gray rights will work at the birds even when traction comes up. Time will tell. Its crucial not to let them soften up though. Grays should read about 42 durometer. I'm talking stock of course.
lordraptor1 01-04-2005, 08:27 PM you have mail gezer
jflack 01-04-2005, 11:56 PM ...............
jflack: I had the same results....
A couple cars at the local rug have been running them.
NO CHUNKS & NO BROKEN wheels for either of them since the put them on.
Great product from Bruce!
Razoo 01-05-2005, 10:12 AM Tommy-
Will Tan Fronts and Cream rears work OK at GF? I usually Use TRC Blue Fronts and Green Rears and I like that combo.
Tommygun43 01-05-2005, 12:57 PM They will work fine. Thats a soft RR for glen falls, might be a little faster with a harder one.
Razoo 01-05-2005, 01:06 PM If it were any faster I couldn't drive the damn thing :) !
tfrahm 01-10-2005, 12:52 AM Wow! WOW! After my first day of oval racing with the Orange wheels/tires... WOW!
Used almost no tire sauce (Paragon) at all, and for what little I did use, I went to Phil's wipe on/off routine... After practice and racing, tires show no wear that I can measure with my calipers! Ran my fastest runs of the season!... Gray LF, Hard Black RF, Tan LR, Black RR... I think I could go one step softer on the LF for a bit more aggressive cornering, but I started with Bruce's recommendation, and it was nearly perfect!
My best (current track record) before was 57/4:01.23, with my second best previous run of the season 57/4:02.61...
Today I ran a 58/4:03 in practice (not really "fair" -- I temporarily had a clear track all to myself, but to my knowledge, that is the first 58 run by anyone under any conditions on this track)... Then all 57's in racing, with my best official run a 57/4:01.29 to TQ, and my WORST of the day was a 57/4:02.82 for the A-main win...
Hey! It's only club racing, but I'm a BELIEVER! ORANGE Rules!
rctom243 01-10-2005, 10:03 PM Nice Job Tom!
RC4less 01-10-2005, 10:10 PM tfrahm's post gets a big ol
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
from the NatureBoy.
Good Job Tom!
Bruce
BRDRACING 01-12-2005, 10:23 AM Tfrahm what class were you running?
Brooks
tfrahm 01-12-2005, 11:12 AM 4-cell Stock -- 118' carpet bullring.
tfrahm 01-12-2005, 01:02 PM Hmmm... Can you tell I like Orange in general... :D
RC4less 01-12-2005, 10:39 PM Way to go Travis!!!!
Tommygun43 01-13-2005, 12:14 AM WOW that really looks good!!! Good choice on the Pontiac, I stocked up, I have 5 new ones hehe.
tfrahm 01-13-2005, 09:23 AM WOW! That IS one sweet Pontiac! I only have one HDF Pontiac left -- "saving it" for special race(s)... I've also stocked up on some Bolink 'pro lite' HD Monte Carlo's -- I love them for short tracks!
If those are RC4Less stickers, I gotta get some... If it's paint -- NO WAY! -- no talent with an airbrush! :(
TinManSEP 01-13-2005, 10:30 AM Hey Tom, guess BT is just trying to get a leg up (pun) on the figure 4, after all the car does have a "4" on it. Have to agree, so far the best way to treat the tires is "wax on, wax off" no need to let the sauce build up in these tires. I have been running them since the beginning and not one seam has split, not one tire has been out of round, and only one small chunk (crashes don't help). And most of all Bruce's service has been the best in the business.
Tin Man
BRDRACING 01-13-2005, 01:18 PM BT that is a slick looking car!

BrandO 01-13-2005, 09:33 PM The wheels have kind of grown on me. I like blue cars and they seem to look ok. The wheels are as tough as nails. Believe me last week was a torture test. Not one cracked wheel after many trips in to the wall. I have been very impressed. And you can't say enough for Bruce and his service. Last order only took a couple days to get my new skins.
My turn to show off my new Dodge. Yup it's got a Hemi!

BrandO 01-15-2005, 10:03 AM I am looking for some orange wheel advice. I have been running the RC4less foams on a 160' runline flat carpet oval. I have been using the black fronts and the white rears. I have plenty of grip as is. I was thinking maybe I could go with a bit harder compound. Mostly to cut down on the amount of scrub in the corner. I was thinking maybe a cream RR and a hard black RF or maybe a purple. I am open to some suggestions. Let me know what ya'll think.
SDL98 01-15-2005, 10:11 AM I'm not a pro but I run stock at a somilar track have run a Black rr gray lr hard blk rf and blk lft frt sometimes a gray rr and a tan lr guess it depends on what class you are running
BrandO 01-15-2005, 10:12 AM Ya I guess I should have mentioned I am running 4-cell stock.
tfrahm 01-17-2005, 12:25 AM Hey Philb -- What tire setup would you run for 4-cell Stock at Chillicothe? What about 4-cell 19 turn?
philb1 01-17-2005, 07:27 AM My current stock combo is tan LR gray RR tan LF black RF
19 combo is pink LR magenta RR/ gray RR if less traction pink LF hard black RF
I use TQ8 and TQ Max depending on track bite, start with max rears/ 8 fronts. As traction comes up try max LF, or 8 on RR to get the car to rotate.
