RC4less 11-29-2007, 05:49 PM bruce, your going to bring extra tires to the custom works race right?
That's for sure.
I will bring a new product along. It is a conversion kit for the MaxMod tire truers to size them up so it will accept 1/8 scale tires. I know this race doesn't have 1/8 class but many of the guys that race 1/10 also race 1/8 Late Model.
See you there,
Bt
TinManSEP 11-29-2007, 08:35 PM Bruce, to add to Kat's report on Minnreg top three on RC4less in 19 turn!! 1st-Tom Pedano, 2nd-Paul Schaub, 3rd-Some guy named Tin Man!! That's for the awesome "Orange Power" (RC4Less spring on all 5 in my car)
katf1sh 11-29-2007, 11:02 PM don't forget you can't win carpet races on orange wheels! i gotta laugh when i hear that! tom pedano whooped a very strong field on orange wheels!
RYR28 12-02-2007, 11:56 PM Hi Bruce... I ran a personal best 63 laps at MTR today. Qualified second and finished second in a strong 19T field. RC4Less tires and springs are where it's at! Thanks for the great products and support!
Chris
tfrahm 12-09-2007, 01:31 AM I have a small request... I'm a fan of RC4Less tires too, but seeing a post about a win, or TQ, or Track record with "Orange Wheels" doesn't HELP the rest of us... Could you please add things like track (CRC carpet or?) (Flat or banked) -- and could also say what foam compound you used...
If everyone did that, we would quickly have a great "book" on what tires for different classes or tracks...
My reason for asking isn't arbitrary -- we are getting a new carpet oval track locally for the first time in 2 years... It uses a short-loop carpet, and my "old Stock class setup" doesn't seem to be "hot" anymore. (I ran LF=Gray, RF=HdBlack, LR=Tan, RR=Black) -- this setup is super LOOSE -- I need almost 5 OUNCES of LR weight -vs- RR weight... Sheeeze!
David Butts 12-09-2007, 10:28 AM Could you please add things like track (CRC carpet or?) (Flat or banked) -- and could also say what foam compound you used...
Okey dokey, I ran 13.5 at my home track, Hobby World in Jax Fl yesterday, 350' + outdoor asphalt oval with slight banking.
Heres my setup from another post but dont let yourself get caught up in howmuch lr rr split you have. 5 ounces really isn't all that much and if you check your crossweights, I bet you'd find you have a lot less left side weight than you thought. Adjust it till it drives good for you and then look at the numbers. Not the other way around.
These little 13.5 are extremely fun to race with and plenty fast too. I always try different things with tire combo's and gearing and yesterday was no exception. For the main I ran a 4.90 rollout. Yep, Thats a 4 with a .90 after it. Turned the fastest laps of the day inclass and may have been about one tooth to high or maybe not. My last lap was only .4 off the fastest and I did have a pretty hard hit after I drove through the paint(ok, all the way through the paint and touched the pipe:rolleyes: ) and the car slid and then traction rolled while leading into the turn 4 wall real hard, Recovered and never lost the lead.
And here's what I ran, The 05.5 OPC, Paint by Focker Yota body with the large PRP wing, 88/63 gears with 2.18 tires, As for tires? Ofcourse I used the awesome RC4LESS foams, Purple LF, Red RF, Purple RR and a narrowed on the outside Pink LR, Associated silver center spring and Assoc gold L and Blue R sideshock springs. Red on both fronts with heavy lube, Centered t-plate with offset pod and since I broke my 0 deg rearsteer slug and do not have another, I ran the .25. First time I've run rearsteer at HW since the straights are so long but it worked and I think I'll leave it and try some more next time.
I won both quals and the main with this and I had 14.8 ounces on the lr
OOPS! I guess I could have lied about the springs but I ran what I own, Bruces are better but I just have'nt bought them yet. :drunk:
haagar 12-09-2007, 01:42 PM My reason for asking isn't arbitrary -- we are getting a new carpet oval track locally for the first time in 2 years... Sheeeze!
I am running LF=Cream, RF=Black, LR=White, RR=Gray/White on Bruce's recommendation and the car was tight. This is also on hook and loop carpet. I put a BSR (I know, it's all I could find) black on the right front which felt softer than the RC4Less and the car was better. I am going to order some RC4Less grays and see how the car feels with that.
This was basically the first time out with this car and I equaled my best run and was about 3/4 of a lap of the fastest car. Making some setup changes and we'll see how it goes this week.
tfrahm 12-09-2007, 04:18 PM Thanks guys...
Haagar -- You confirmed something I was picking up when I went back through the last year or so of this thread. Back when the RC4Less tires first came out, I started running them and the idea was run "firm" tires in a balanced combination to reduce rolling resistance... Now I see more of a trend to softer tires all around to bring up the overall "bite"... I suspect part of that is just that motors, batteries, etc. keep getting better, and as raw speed increases, you NEED that extra bite to avoid drifting the turns...?
David -- After I read your post, I realized you were right, for a couple of reasons... For one, if it handles, the LR "wedge" doesn't REALLY matter, and for the other, I dug back into my notes from the last time I raced oval (two years ago), and realized I ran a lot of LR weight then, too, so It wasn't as bad as I thought... It also occurred to me that my tires are two years old -- I've stored them carefully, but they are not "fresh", although Pargon seemed to bring them right back to their old "feel"...
So far I have been attanding "test and tune" sessions (track isn't officially open yet), and using brushed (Co27) power... However, once racing starts I will be running a GTB/13.5 Pro combo. FWIW - My current car is an old, but well loved Terminator Pro, and the chassis I will be running the 13.5 in is a RACEtech Mac Attack (T-bar, not "floater" pod)... Old Iron, but it's what I have, and both are chassis I know well..
COOL FACTOR (This semi-club track is the brainchild of a "kid" that raced with us when he was in high school and college -- now he's in NASCAR and is sort of returning the favor)... I assume we'll be buying our computer supplies at Office Depot now... :)
MK Race 12-09-2007, 04:37 PM Hey Tom, great news about you guys getting a track again. Where can we get info?
Any chance that the "kid" might show up?
tfrahm 12-09-2007, 05:04 PM Mike -- Nothing official is available yet, but tentative plans are to start with Wednesday nights (that's the "club" racing aspect) and to keep it low key.. (You have a PM)
Carpet is Gray short loop, roughly 80x48' (4 rolls of carpet wide) -- only one support post in the whole track, right in the center, well out of the way. Brand new AMBrc3 system -- Personal Transponders ONLY (some "house" PT's will be available for "rent"). (They are talking about a plan to put in a projection system to show the race computer screen on the wall behind the pits.) Classes are still "up in the air" -- lots of talk about 4-cell 13.5 oval (some will run 27t brushed mixed in unless car counts support splitting them out), 13.5/27t sedan OnRoad, 13.5/27t 12th scale onroad, and Sliders ("street" tires, not foams for "stock" -- Mod is unknown) are a "go" (lots of them from the local dirt oval)... Some locals are heavy 6-cell racers (offroad, dirt oval, sedan onroad) -- some talk of letting 6-cell 27t and 4-cell 19t run together, but that is pure speculation...
It is assumed that the host may attend at times, since Wednesday is his "day at home" most of the time... Besides, I owe him a re-match (my claim to fame, documented by an autographed photo is that I beat him in a truck race -- "toy" trucks not NCTS, but it still counts... LOL!).
tfrahm 12-27-2007, 11:36 AM Our new "host" has been a regular, racing with us the last couple of weeks, using borrowed cars (he doesn't have a car of his own)... I may have to "sponsor" him with one of my spare rides -- he hasn't been having much luck with the car another of his buddies has been letting him use (old "Swizzle stick" SSE)
Even though I have the current stock/13.5 track record (45/4:00), I need ideas for a setup. The track is starting to get a good "groove" and is really changing fast. Right now, everyone is still running a very firm RF to mellow out their cars, but I think pretty soon we will be running more normal combos. Cream LF, Hard Black RF, Pink, Cream or White rears are working in varying degrees, but I can't think that such a hard RF is the fast way to go... At a minimum, I think the RF will be a Black by next week...
I'm going to have to order some tires, so any advice is appreciated...
katf1sh 12-27-2007, 06:57 PM carpet when the bite comes up....green lf black rf

David Butts 12-28-2007, 07:09 PM I'm going to run the 4cell 10.5 Sprint car class at the Da'Birds next month. Unfortunately, I can't run the awesome RC4LESS tires at this race but you can bet I'll have Bruce's springs on the car.
Last year the class was a blast running 6cell stock and looks to be more fun this year.
Now where's my heavy rate springs?:woohoo:
latemodel100 12-28-2007, 08:17 PM Happy New Year Bruce.............. and the RC4Less Team

David Butts 01-08-2008, 08:24 PM [QUOTE=RC4less]Hey Dave, can you paint those spec foam wheels orange??!!
Bruce, Lastyear Stepen Pedano made us up some nifty RC4LESS'esque wheel covers. Maybe he'll do it again. Theres always the orange monokote trick too.
RC4less 01-08-2008, 09:04 PM Bean-Schmean........
Hey Rich, he already called me to find out what class I'm running. Then he changed his entry to run what I'm not entered in. Go Figure. The last time he signed up on my frequency and when the computer sorted the heats I would never see him.
See you there. Bring the crutches and knee braces. Bean will be calling for the EMT's for sure.

Bruce. We need to work on this total lack of confidence you seem to be exuding. So just how bad do you expect to cripple Mr. Bean? :woohoo:
garacer08 01-08-2008, 11:05 PM I need some help with foam tires on a flat asphalt track. I am looking at running .09 nitro, .12 nitro, and maybe 17.5 or 21.5/lipo. This will be for the Daytona Spec.race. I have not run foam tires since the early 90's on dirt at the Sugar Bowl.
RC4less 01-09-2008, 07:05 AM Hi garacer08, at Daytona 3 pinks and a purple RF is a good starting point. Maybe a magenta RF. Start them out at about 2.20 diameter and they will wear into a little reverse stagger. Some of the nitro guys can chime in here. I don't think they are running anything harder than 3 pinks on the rear & LF, but you never know.

Sounds like Bruce is gonna apply the FIGURE 4 ......... lol.
jenzorace 01-09-2008, 03:52 PM I recently bought 4 d.o. purples For my carpet edm. I ran a 10.5 motor and 6 cell in my gbx. Thats right 4 purples. When those things heat up the lap times drop. My fastest lap was the very last lap of the day. These things are so durable. The competiton seen me running these, they all ordered some. Now there keeping up with me. Thanks rc4less.

Thanks alot! I guess I need to get a tire truer also. Are there any tire truers out there that will work for capped tires also. I have some that I would like to true up some that I have had for a while but never run because they were not trued up that well.
RC4less 01-09-2008, 08:29 PM GA, those must be some old, old radials. BSR's radials are 99.44% pure as far as being round. John works super hard to make sure his quality is top notch or it doesn't go out the door.
Hudy, OFNA, Integy all make good truers. I would look here on the Swap & Sell threads for a good used one.

RC4less 01-14-2008, 09:51 PM Hey guys for anyone who finds the web site hard to access over the next few days, I'm switching web hosts and going to a different shopping cart system.
Spell that headache......
Anyway, I hope the switch is seamless and I'll be tweaking the new site over the next few days to make it even easier to order and see products.
If you see any bugs feel free to email me rc4less@hotmail.com

Echeconnee 01-14-2008, 09:56 PM looks like the Macon racers are going foam on a weekly basis as the concrete oval is gone!

David Butts 01-15-2008, 07:53 PM Nice run in pro 19 Bruce your car was Dialed!
I concur with that, I was listening watching online, Up until that little traffic incident late, He was catching Rich a couple tenths a lap, Could'nt really see the cars in the video but the lap counting screen was awesome.
Allthough Rich is my hero(don't tell him)I was pulling for the catch and pass that never happened.

Sorry to hear it Clifford. About the track that is. Or maybe, Just maybe that you'll be running more sponge racing now. :woohoo:

Dpreston 01-15-2008, 09:29 PM I ran rc4less tires also 3 pinks and a purple
RC4less 01-15-2008, 09:31 PM That was a blast and the loaner car was pretty good all day. I'll have my clone of that car at the Birds. There were a lot of orange tires with several guys doing well. I ran Pink Left side tires, Magenta RR & Purple RF. Cleaned them every run with motor cleaner and quick wipe on wipe off of Jack the Stripper before the run. Only the inside half of the RF each time. I had the RED compound ready for the RF but the bite didn't get crazy enough for that tire.
See everyone at the Birds.

Just change your bookmark to www.rc4less.com (http://www.rc4less.com) You probably have the old site bookmarked. It is up and running with almost 98% of the products loaded. Just a couple more categories to finish up tomorrow and Saturday.
Thanks

RYR28 02-04-2008, 09:39 PM Thanks Bruce for the great products. RC4Less tires and springs helped me to finish 3rd in the 19T A-Main at the Birds. A black RF, green LF, white LR and gray/white RR was the setup that worked for me.

I keep seeing references to 'Green' foams from RC4Less, but the web site doesn't list them unless I'm just missing something..?
katf1sh 02-05-2008, 01:33 PM shoot bruce an email and order them up!
RC4less 02-05-2008, 11:17 PM Tom, I've been selling green donuts to customers for a long time. I also sell the wheels seperately. Let me know if you need anything.
Thanks to everyone who chose RC4LESS tires and products at the Birds. Chris Lawson whipped the old man in 19-turn with a 3rd place finish. Mike Bean made a great A-Main showing in 1/12 mod and I think he finished 3rd.
See everyone at Daytona. I'll be back at home in 1/12 scale ready to make amends for last year's rough driving in the main......... NOT!
Thanks
