View Full Version : [[[ Rc4less Foam Tires ]]]
JPG333 01-04-2006, 12:42 PM Thanks for the feedback on the Niftech softener. It has been about 5 years since I have ran the stuff. I remember it being good, but being as we allow paragon up here I have not had a need to keep using it. Now it looks like it is time to find something else being as Paragon is getting harder to find.
The reason I asked about stickyness is that some Traction compounds like TQ8 or TQ orange make a tire more sticky and does not offer much in the way of softening. TQ works great for rubber on carpet, but not so much on foam. I have found that the sticky softeners are great in the begining, but do not last a run on foam tires. The car will tend to get loose half way through the run...
I will give the Niftech a shot if I can find a place to buy it with out having to pay C.O.D.
Also, Has anybody tried the Paragon 2 that is coming out to replace Paragon???
Or has anybody tried Stick ET???
Any feedback is appreciated...
Jim Glasgow
katf1sh 01-04-2006, 07:01 PM stick et is ok used outdoors..but in florida on asphault alot of us use trinity tire tweak almost 90% of the time.
sticky tire sauces are only masking an ill handling race car.
as far as i know paragon two is called traction action. paragon will be available nation wide before months end.

Jim what is happening is that as you run the front tires are starting to gum up (get real sticky) thus giving the front a ton of traction. you can do a few things to stop this the first is use less. it isn't necessary to compound the whole front tire. usually I start by doing half of both then adjust accordingly 2nd do the on and wipe off asap method. third is clean the tires after every run.
I ran the Paragon traction action and liked it. it was alot like Jack the gripper but better.
davepull 01-04-2006, 09:05 PM no more worries guys Paragon is back in stock or back in black lol sorry that was cheesy

mbeach2k 01-04-2006, 11:18 PM are they not making the original ground effects any more?
davepull 01-04-2006, 11:33 PM yes they are still making it they just ran out of the 8oz containers and people panicked
katf1sh 01-05-2006, 01:22 PM i am not a believer in any of the "best" threads or that there is a "best" of anything.
i prefer nif tech on carpet and will use it at the birds
i prefer tire tweak or sun tan lotion when racing outdoors on foams
very few tracks do i use red dot or stick et at anymore. i use nif tech exclusively on carpet. i trust superior hobbies will have cases of paragon at the birds for sale. they have in the past and i assume they will again.
i would worry more about tire selection than tire sauce. the correct tire selection will be very important. a new set every run at the birds if one can afford to do so would be nice as well. tire management is very important at the birds. alot of us will scuff in 3 or 4 sets of tires for the birds. running the same set back to back is dicey at best. washing the tires after every run is very important. some use warm water and hand soap ..while others use lighter fluid or motor spray. they cannot be allowed to sit very long with that paragon crap on them after the race. they will go marshmellow on you scary fast. if you choose paragon less is more and wipe the tire super dry before the race and do not allow it to soak into the tire for a long period of time. i see guys apply it while in line for there heat and wipe it off seconds after applying it.a few guys hvae tried dry tires without success though. honestly if there is a carpet track in town and they do not carry nig tech and paragon i would be scratching my head. we have 0 carpet tracks in florida, but i can pick up a can of 4 or 5 carpet tire sauces at my local hobby shops. TQ hobbies has nif tech and superior hobbies carries everything else.
maybe bruce has to start selling some tire sauces for the rug?

David Butts 01-09-2006, 10:48 PM Bruce, There were but a couple of cars that weren't on orange power tires this weekend. I can finally say carpet is fun. I didnt beat everyone but only a few stock racers beat my times. Like the afforementioned Tom Pedano, His brother Stephen and Dave P.

Hey Dave, Orange rims on all of um would be nice. There are a lot of excellent tires out there for racers to choose from. So we'll just take as many spots as we can.
I didn't think I'd ever hear you say Carpet was fun.
Pedano, Pedano & Pulifaco, sounds like a law firm to me!

jmracing 01-10-2006, 12:16 AM not the right thread but our thanks go out to Bruce for the door prizes he sent to K/N Rcspeedway.again thanks big time Bruce.John

davepull 01-14-2006, 03:32 AM Kat's car did some flips and spins that would make a olympic figure skater proud. lol what did I tell yah about listening to Ronnie. lol count me in this year for Charleys, Kat
ClutchRC 01-14-2006, 09:56 AM Like Dave told you Kat. Don't listen to Ronnie about the setup on 1/12th scale.
First off you probably have a hard time seeing through all that smoke let alone all the rolling and spinning out.:dude:
Just check out the pie chart to see what you would have really turned. :jest: Your right Kat I received $20 bucks to spin out in front of you in the 2nd qualifier.
We would inviite but we really don't like you?
LOL :D
cneyedog 01-14-2006, 10:18 AM Like Dave told you Kat. Don't listen to Ronnie about the setup on 1/12th scale.
uh, does that mean you SHOULD listen to ronnie about the 1/10th scale ?.....muuuuuuuuuhahahahahahaha
Kat's car was very very good in the main but the traffic was ferocious.
Curt, maybe you should ask Bean about your 1/12th scale ?...... hehe
ClutchRC 01-14-2006, 10:26 AM It is to late Rich. He has turned to the Dark Side of the Force.
I just want to know who paid Kat to spin out in front of me in the 1st qualifier?
ClutchRC 01-14-2006, 10:28 AM As far as the traffice goes. YOU GET WHAT U GIVE.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:freak:

JPG333 01-16-2006, 07:13 PM Bruce,
It was a long weekend of racing up here for the BDC Carpet Cup oval race. The over all results were great for RC4Less tires. In 1/10 scale 4 cell Mod the top qualifiers and top 4 finishing cars were on RC4less foams.
I ended up winning the event Sunday and TQ'd and got second at the Club race Friday night and Les O'dell TQ'd for Sunday's race and won Friday night.
John Glasgow TQ'd and won the 1/12 4 cell Modified race and the Top 3 cars in the 1/12 scale A main were also on RC4less foams. I also ran 1/12 scale Mod and placed 2nd. Both John and I were driving Darkside outlaw cars.
RC4less tires also TQ'd and Won Modified Open wheel, which is like a legends class only the cars are old RC10 style cars with Stealth transmissions.
In Fridays club race, the entire 7 car A main was all on RC4less foam tires.... This is pretty impressive considering in November the only people on RC4less foam were Les O'dell and Myself.
Also... My 1/10 4 cell Mod setup in my L4 oval car were as follows:
Surface: Ozite Oval
Track size: 85x36 line: 185
RC4less Tires: RR: Cream LR: White LF: Black RF: Purple
Tire softener: Paragon (Black can)
Motor: 10 single
Batteries: IB3800's
Chassis set-up: VCS shocks 30 weight oil, w/ Blue Side springs, IRS Med/Soft spring steel T-Plate, standard rear pod position, Wolfe front in-line axles w/ Wolfe springs: LF: progressive silver spring RF: Standard Black
spring, Center Associated VCS macro shock with #2 pistion and Copper TC3 spring. Darkside Shark center shock mount w/ shock in 2nd hole from the top. Battery position to the rear in a 6 cell tray w/ an RC4less reciever pack in the front of the Tray.
In 1/12 scale Mod the winning and second place tires were:
RC4LESS 1/12: Rear: White LF: Purple RF: Grey/Black
(I know it sounds weird to run this combo in the front, but it works awesome)
Anyway just thought I would share all of this w/ the RC4Less faithful!!!
Will talk to you soon,
Jim Glasgow
Everett, WA
RC4Less
Three 01-24-2006, 06:08 PM What tire compounds will I need for the Snowbirds race in 1/10 4 cell stock?
How many sets of tires will I need?
To what diameter should I cut the front tires? The rear tires?
Any idea on the rollout required?
Thanks!!!
davepull 01-24-2006, 06:23 PM I am going to try this
I ran
LF gray RF black
LR cream RR tan
I liked it. tire size I would start @ 2.18 3 sets should be enough. just make sure to clean them after every run. lighter fluid works great as does motor cleaner.

Lester24 02-02-2006, 01:19 PM Just wanted to wish Bruce and the other RC4less team drivers good luck at the Snowbirds. I predict a whole lot of orange in victory lane. Would love to race the birds with you, but just can't afford it this year. I really wanna make it next year. Also thanks so much to Bruce for his help this year, its been an honor running for RC4Less this season. RC4Less tires are top notch quality, and I've never been happier with another tire in my 16 years of racing. Hope you guys have a great time at the Birds.
