I curently run TRC green rears and TRC blue fronts. What would be the equivelant compounds in RC4LESS tires?

JPG333
11-15-2005, 04:53 PM
Before running RC4Less tires, I used to run TRC White (25-30)or Green Rears (30-35) with Blue fronts (38-40).

I race on the Calandra "Fast Track" Carpet surface.

On RC4Less tires, I run White (25) or Cream Rears (30) with LF: Black (45), and RF: Black (45) or Hard Black (50) depending on tire wear and track bite. I am a big fan of the exotic tires. You will find that with this RC4Less set-up, your car will react similar to how the TRC green and TRC blue tires react on your car now. You will also notice that your lap times might be a tenth faster and that your tire wear will be less and will wear more evenly going to a exotic foam tire combo.

If this is your first experience on RC4Less tires... I think you will be very pleased with the Performance, Quality and Durability of RC4Less foam tires. Bruce's prices are great too!!!

Hope this helps out...

It would be helpful if you could tell a little bit about what class you run to get you a good starting point for your class. It may also help to tell what kind of surface you run on. Flat track, Banked, High bite carpet, Low bite carpet, Asphalt, etc...

Thanks for the reply. To answer your questions. I race an open wheel SK modified. It's a stock motor, 6 cell class. I run on a small med-hi traction flat paperclip carpet oval (RC Madness in CT). The car runs an associated dynamic front end and a rigid mounted rear. The chassis has an offset layout to put most of the weight on the left. Green rears and blue fronts or blue RF/green LF is the best combo for the track. Hope this helps. I attatched a few pics of a fellow racers bare chassis to give you an idea of what I'm working with. If you need a pic of my chassis fully assembled I can get one to you tomorrow evening. Thanks.

Tazz,

Nice pics... RC4Less tires will look sweet on your open car.... I built a few cars similar to what you are running. I had an RC10 car that had a lefthand chassis on it with a Stealth 2.25 tranny. I used to race 6 cell stock and 6 cell mod.

If you like a car that is planted in the rear, I would go the following setup:

White rears and depending on how much steering you like, you can go with Grey or Black fronts.

If I were setting it up for myself, I would go with White rear and Black fronts with the rears fully softened with paragon, and the front soften the full Left front, and soften the right front from the inside/out according to handling.

I think you will be very impressed with the durablility of the RC4less tires. I know from experince in an open wheel class that durability is definatly nice to have especially when there is no room for rubbing fenders.

Best of Luck,

Jim Glasgow

Bruce or ???

I've run ONLY RC4Less on my oval cars (stock and 19t) for a year now...

But I also race 12th scale onroad, so now I'm drooling over the new tires... The question (as it always is) is What do you recommend? I normally run (with JACO or TRC) -- Purple fronts and Gray rears -- sort of the "industry standard... I'm wondering about RC4Less Purple fronts and either White or Tan rears... Anyone here run 12th scale onroad with them yet?

Hi Tom, several guys have tested on on-road and have had good success with a couple of different combinations. Tan Rears (C35R) and HardBlack/Gray Fronts (C50/40F) have worked well on several tracks and then a lot of guys on both carpet and asphalt have given good feedback on Magenta fronts(R40F) and pink rears(R35R).

I have been using RC4Less donuts on Jaco rims for a while now with great results. I just got my first set of mounted tires/wheels from Bruce and I have to say the wheels that he sells are the most stiff/well made wheels and tires I have ever seen. Having a flexible wheel is not a good thing. It defeats the advantage of having good rubber if it doesn't keep the rubber planted on the track.
Just my 2 1/2 cents!

Should be a veritable sea of orange rims, Both big and little this coming saturday at the Hobby World Monster Mile in Jax Fl. The first annual(hopefully) turkey shootout featuring both oval and onroad on the same day will be held. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that the RC4LESS foams will tq all oval classes and bring home the bacon.

On the first showing with the new 12th scale Tires during last weeks warm up race, New Smyrna beach Floridas own Mike Bean blistered the big track with the first ever 38 lap run by a little car at this fast track. He was actually on a 39 lap pace early on and it looked as if he would be the first racer to hit that elusive mark with either scale car but it didnt happen. Afterward Mike was overheard saying nothing as he doesnt talk much. Now Mikey has the dreaded track record car target and there are several guns with their sights set on him. Saturday will be beautiful and the track will be fast. Who knows. Oh yeah, There are a small group of guys shooting for the 10th scale 19t record too. Hmmm, All the new batteries? Great tires? Beautiful weather? Wish y'all were here.

Till the next jumbo cup of coffee,

I just receive my RC4LESS rear tire.

I order the 25, 30 and 35 hardness, the first thing I have done with it is to unwrap them and check the hardness with my durometer.... And beleive it or not, all the tire except one are dead on the hardness that is suppose to be, the one tha was not exact is a 25 that read 27... not a big difference.

The last time a bought three pair of rear tire (from another brand), I did not find a single tire to have the good hardness.

Way to go RC4LESS

Well its happened. During the turkey showdown at the Hobby World monster mile saturday. All the oval classes had the record books rewritten, Several times during the day and it continued into the mains. Stock, 12th scale and 10th scale 19t all had blistering runs turned in by orange wheel shod race cars. The track was great, The competition unbelievable and the weather could not have been better for an outdoor event in late November. This was truly an "You should have been there" event. If you want to go scary fast on foam tires this is the track to do it at and the orange wheeled RC4LESS tires are the hot ticket to some fast times.

Just got my RC4Less 1/12 tires... Man they are sweet!!! They are a mini version of the 1/10 tires that I have grown to love over the last year!!! I have run 1/10 oval for about 15 years now, but I am just now getting into 1/12 oval.

What is the ideal tire diameter for 1/12 scale oval. The RC4less 1/12 tires are about 1.98 new. In 1/12 On-Road I run about 1.75 tire diameter. Just wondering if any of you experienced 1/12 guys have any suggestions for me on what size to cut my tires down to???

jim just like 10th scale when ride height is not an issue smaller is faster. bumpy tracks require ride height and most 12th scales need the 1.8 tires to make ride height. it can get expensive cutting them down to 1.70 each week.

Bruce,

Last Friday, RC4Less 1/12 tires made their debut up here in Mt. Vernon, WA on my 1/12 darkside Outlaw Oval car and my friend Pete's 12L3O. When the night was over it ended up being RC4Less 1/12 tires taking first and second place in the A-main. I won and qualified second, and my friend Pete TQ'd and took second place. It was a very close race between Pete and I. The bottom line was RC4Less 1/12 tires were the ones to beat. We answered a lot of questions from our competition about our new RC4less 1/12 tires during the coarse of the night, but come time for the main event, the results spoke louder than words could express. The 1/12 RC4Less tires felt awesome and consistent all night long. They wore really well racing on our brand new CRC Ozite.... On my car I ran LF: Pink RF: Magenta and Pink in the Rears. My car felt very stable and was very fast. My friend Pete ran Purple Fronts and Pink rears and he absolutly loved his car. This was one of Pete's first RC4Less tire experiences and he was strong competition all night long.

Also, I TQ'd and got second place in 6 Cell Mod Pan with 1/10 RC4less tires. I had a qualifier with some tough traffic and ended up getting into a bad accident, flipping 4 feet in the air and landing on a wooden bench at the end of the back stretch. The accident was so bad that I busted a VCS shock piston in Half and I ripped the wing off of my car. To my surprise... All 4 of my Orange RC4Less Rims and tires were still in perfect shape! I could not believe my eyes. In the past some of the other tires that I have used, before converting to RC4Less, would not have survived a 6 cell mod accident like the one I had Friday... I have got to hand it to you Bruce these tires are Tough and the Performance is Outstanding!!! ...... On my Mod car I had the following 1/10 RC4Less coupounds: LF:Magenta RF: Black and White in the Rears.

 Everything is Good here up here in RC4Less tire Heaven!!! I am sittin' pretty with an orange RC4Less tire Halo and lovin' every minute of it!!!!

I've been racing R.C. Oval for 16 years now and this year was lucky enough to add RC4Less as one of my very first sponsors. I'd just like to say out of all the tires I've ever run on these tires have by far performed the best and have been the most durable. The yellow rims I'd previously been running on the previous year had alot of glueing problems in the last few years, which would cause the foam to come up around the edges and have really bad vibrations. We race 6 cell mod up here in Mt Vernon washington and that really puts the tire/glue and rim to the test. I haven't ever had one problem with glueing on the RC 4 less tires. Another problem I've had with other brands of tires is the rims holding up. In 6 cell mod, I've seen the orange RC4Less rims stand up to some amazing accidents and come out totally fine. Probably one of my favorite things about the RC4Less tires is how true they are. Straight out of the package the rims and foam spin amazingly true, this is very important for modified racing. RC4less tires get amazing grip and have really good wear. Its impressive to me how much grip some of the harder tires have like black and double black. Its really great that in my opinion, the best quality tires available for oval now can also be purchased at some of the lowest prices in the industry. For any of you racers who havent tried them. Take my advice and give them a try. I mainly 1/10th scale pan. On my first night of racing 1/10th scale mod on RC4Less tires I won the Amain. The second night I added almost a lap and a half to the 1/10th scale mod record. I have been borrowing a KSG car and running a few races. I loaned some of my RC4less 1/12th scale tires to my friend Pete Kinsman and he added a lap to the track record in 4 cell stock on his first full run on the tires. In his 12L3O he ran pink rears, purple right front and a magenta left front. The car was amazing through the turns. My fellow rc4less teammate and cousin won the a-main his first night out with his new darkside 12th scale oval car and RC4Less tires. Not sure what tires compounds he ran, but RC4less tires were 1rst and 2nd. Bottom line is in a short time the RC4less tires are racking up muliple records and alot of wins and showing they're great quaility buy holding up great. In 1/10th scale stock, I love the cream rears, they are just the right compund. On the front in 1/10th I like a black RF and A Grey LF. If any of you guys have trouble with your tires gumming up or getting sticky after running on ozite, cleaning the tires in between races with denatured alcahol works great. It dries quickly and then you can go resume your normal softening strategy. If anybody ever has any questions for me concerning RC4Less products or any aspect of carpet oval racing.....please feel free to email me at any time at Lester24@verizon.net and I'd be glad to help. As any of you that have dealt with Bruce Triplett before know, he is a heck of a nice guy to deal with and always takes good care of you and gets your orders out fast. Its great to have a RC company out there that focuses on oval racing and provides so many quality oval products at great prices. More and more people are taking notice of the cars with the orange rims that are running up front.

Not exactly "big time", but my trusty orange rims took me to two TQ's and two A-main wins Sunday, with a track record in 19t (64/4:01.35)... It's only small club racing, but a win is a win!

Stock (Terminator Pro):LF=Gray, RF=HardBlack, LR=Tan, RR=Black...

19t (Carpet Pro): LF=Pink, RF=Purple, LR=Pink, RR=Magenta...

Just to echo something someone else said earlier -- these tires take abuse! Club level racing can really be rough, and in my second winter season on these tires, I have only had one "chunk", and that was NOT the tire's fault -- a massive hit from another car actually CUT out a small bit of foam -- but even than the glue was strong enough to hold onto some ofthe rubber. And a minor dent in the rim, but NO damage! In fact, I'm still running that tire on the RR of my 19t car, including that track record run Sunday!

Unbeatable value, performance, and quality!

Your right TOM club race or big race, 2 A-main wins are 2 A-Main wins, and matching TQ's make it extra sweet.... good job. Do you guys race on ozite?? I have a black/tan set of rears and have not tried them out yet. Have only tried the creams in the rear for stock and I was so happy with them, I didn't even try anything else. Wonder if the black/tan rear combo would work for me. Maybe atleast put a tan on the right rear in stock. I know exactly what you mean about these rims being tough. On the first mod night of our series, I was practicing 6 cell mod pan with my trinity car with the floating rear end, I was going full speed and hit a 52oz stock transmision jalopy type car that spun in front of me. went into and end over end flip, caught about 5 feet of air and smacked the car into our buildings steel garage door, then it bounced of that and smacked one of the racers chairs before landing on the concrete floor. It was one of those wrecks that makes a really loud noise and everyone goes......"ooooooooooh" it knocked my front and rear end all out of alignment. Shattered my thunder wing, cracked the body, ripped the threads right out of the ball cup in the middle shock so center shock was just hanging. Ripped the guts out of one of the VCS shocks. Totally accordianed a battery that was glued well. Pulled the speed controller loose. ruined the diff and both rear axil bearings. After one of the worse wrecks I'd ever had, the only thing I could see wrong with the tires is that one had a very faint fine line where the body had rubbed during crash, all rims were fine. After way more wrenching that anyone would ever wanna do in one night, I won the A-main on the same car and same tires. Those things are tough. If you wanna check out what our club has going on, we have a club website at.... www.NORARCOVAL.com (http://www.norarcoval.com/)

Good luck at the track,

Lester

Our local club track is a bit out of the ordinary... The carpet is sort of an "indoor/outdoor" carpet (very short loop, etc.) -- New racers that visit find it very hard to get hooked up. Once you get hooked up, it's fine and the racing is close... Second round of qualifying Sunday, the top three of us were in the same heat of 5 cars, and 0.83 seconds separated 1st-3rd... The Tan/Black combo on the rear REALLY works for me working together with the Gray/HBlack fronts... The car is balanced, and the hard right side tires reduce the tire wear (this carpet also seems to be a bit hard on tires!). I like my car to turn off the LF and drive off the LR and this combo works that way! I run my battery tray exactly centered on the wheelbase and full left. The LR tire is tucked up next to the pod, and the outer edge of the LR and LF tires line up with each other. I stay with a centered pod -- just "feels" right for me...

Even with this carpet, I run fairly stiff side springs (AE Gold) on both side shocks, because the bite is good enough with the orange rims that I need those springs to hold the chassis flat and reduce roll in the corners.

I think what will be the ticket this year will be very close to what Tom mentioned. HBlack RF, Black or Gray LF, Black RR & Tan LR. Som Mod guys will probably stick with 3 pinks and a purple and just stay after keeping the tires cleaned after the track gets soaked with paragon.

Hey I wonder if you can put a drainage system under the carpet much like I did with my yard to drain away the excess? Bet the digging for the trenches wouldn't be as hard on the old back! :-)

push is the easiest thing in the world to cure. but no my car was good...as always there is always someone faster.

the reason i run that combo is we do not allow paragon crap indoors in florida. niftec works great! the next indoor race may allow paragon so i will test out that new combo.
