I am changing the gaskets and oil seals in a B&S 100900 engine. I pulled the oil sump (bottom crankcase) off the engine and a small plastic piece fell out. It is hollow and cylindrical and almost resembles a plastic thimble. It is yellowish in color, about 3/4" tall, and has a tiny hole at the top. I don't know where it goes when I reassemble the engine. Do you?

I'm going to try to post a picture, soon.

I have looked at the parts list and cannot find this piece.....Please have a look at a webpage I made to illustrate my problem. White grubs ate my lawn, so I need this motor back on my tiller ASAP!! Thanks!!

When looking at your picture (the one of the governor ) that piece should go into the middle of the governor gear set up. It should fit in between the two metal weights that go back and forth when the gear spins faster and slower. What that piece does is press on the governor arm to control your speed.
If need be, just go to a small motor dealer and ask to see the governor assy (pn. 297249) for that motor and you will know what I'm talking about.
