A&E this sunday, sept 13 starting at 8 pm and then rerunning every two hours, will air an abridged "Star Wars:Empire of Dreams", which allegedly is one of the extras from the DVD set. Apparently, A&E cofunded some or all of the DVD supplements; brilliant businessman that Lucas is.
Also, AICN speculates Georgie appearing on PBS' Charlie Rose tonight. I checked me local listings http://www.zap2it.com but came up blank on the Rose thingie.

This is the so-called definitive documentary, but doesn't have any comment from Gary Kurtz in it? Probably minimal stuff at best from Dykstra, and nothing from Jim Nelson?
Yeah, gonna give this spin-control exercise a complete miss. Lucas could teach even Paramount about spin control. Winners get to write and rewrite the record books, I guess.
Trek Ace 09-10-2004, 11:21 AM I would sure love to see the Robert Guenette documentaries released to DVD. Although he passed away last year, I'm sure his estate could benefit from the release of these classic doc's.

Yup. I'm not a wholesale detractor of the current works, and wouldn't mind most of the alterations if the originals were available alongside them...but the contributions of Gary Kurtz (especially) and others are key to the success of Star Wars ("No bloody 'New Hope' or 'Episode Five'!"), and have been systematically written out of the official Lucas History: Latest Revision.
Last night, Lucas was disscussing THX. Was too tired to watch - anybody catch it? (Ziz, is that offer still open? Sorry I got sidetracked.)
Trek Ace 09-10-2004, 12:43 PM Not to mention Marcia Lucas' contributions.
soloboy5 09-10-2004, 03:17 PM I wouldnt exactly call it free , you have to pay for cable or satellite to get that channel!

You're not kidding, she was a great cutter!
terryr 09-13-2004, 01:55 AM The early auditions were interesting.
MartinHatfield 09-13-2004, 09:14 AM There were interviews with Gary Kurtz, John Dykstra and numerous other contributors to the original trilogy. Marcia Lucas was mentioned, but an interview was out of the question due to stipulations in the divorce papers.
I personally loved all of the behind the scenes footage, and the chance to see the "original" opening crawl...without the "Episode 4: A New Hope" tag added. It was so cool to finally see the proof that it had not been there all along.
I can't wait to see what's missing from this doc next week.

Take that, johnny-come-later fanboys!
No one filmed Walken's audition? Did he audition?
Prowse has nothing to say? Still bitter?
Very entertaining and not as much of a hagiography of Lucas as one might think.
OK maybe I'm wrong on that last point ;)

I was prepared to say you're definitely wrong on that last point, but I had to check a dictionary to see if 'hagiography' is really a word...:drunk:
