View Full Version : Racing City Hobbies Track Repairs Info
NASCR3 09-02-2004, 01:24 PM For those of you who might be wondering, yes the track IS being repaired. Myself, Ken & his son started last night. The back stretch has been completely pulled up from the exit of 2 to the entry in 3 and other sections will be done as needed on a spot by spot basis, the worst of it as some of you saw was the back it was UGLY, but it looks like it will lay back down just as smooth as it was before. This was THE Saturday night place to race in 2004 and 2005 should prove to be no different. Call Ken for the fall schedule @ 518-792-7272.
P.S. If any of you are in a giving mood & have some spare time we could use some extra hands on this.
Thanks,
John
The Jet 09-02-2004, 05:11 PM John,
U-L-G-Y for sure, LOL, but didn't much effect the car. I'll be looking forward to the first race. All kinds of new stuff on the way

Later, 10%I ran there the other day and i couldnt do anything. I pulled it after 1 pack. It would catch the body and in the corners the tiling was coming up so it would catch the car mid corner and shoot it to the infield. My new KSG CS is dialed tho. Looking forward to another action packed year. With alot of traveling this year. Anyone who wants to take me places feel free to ask
disruptor10 09-05-2004, 08:00 AM great to hear ...can't wait for saturday night action ...............wooooooo

track is good, no racing this weekend. There was last week 4 people showed and 2 of them was their first time. Needless to say 2 busted bearings and 4 broke body posts later the night was finnaly over  i had wayyyy more fun in open mod mini-t lap times of around high 4's to low 5's and now that i have my mcallister dirt mod body on it it should be evern more fun!!
NASCR3 09-16-2004, 03:21 PM The repairs went well the back stretch is 110% better than it was. It's as close to being a "POOL TABLE" as we can get it. There are a couple of new patches going into 3 but they fit perfectly NO BUMP. The only thing that we may do and I emphasize the word may, is the center piece in the corners. they're not great but until we get some cars on them to see if there is a problem i don't want to mess with it. So everybody come on up and give it a try.

RCRacer45s 09-17-2004, 07:04 AM i love racing!
harrington! i heard you were wussin out this year man :p ...hope to see you around I had a blast last year. This year should be good once people start showing up and all. see ya 'round
harringBONE 09-17-2004, 07:47 AM heck yeah, although the racing budget has been cut this year, so we'll be racing stock. i cant wait, SGF always has a stout stock crowd, and i like racing there, great place. i hope they get the yearly bugs worked out again, last year the track was wicked fast, mod pushing low 2.9's!!!! dont blink
The Jet 09-17-2004, 04:05 PM  What do you mean "Stock".
19 turn wont cost you any more than stock, and you can go faster :dude: .
You didn't wear a skirt last year LOL.

disruptor10 09-20-2004, 04:11 PM All i can say is the track is way better now then it was when i raced on it in august....hats off to Ken and whomever for doin all the work......now all we need is some more guys to show. See you all soon ...big D..............
Ziggy 09-21-2004, 06:35 AM I am planning on coming out this Saturday (9/25) is there any interest in running mod this weekend? Also if Pedro comes out as well would we be able to run mod if there was just 2 of us?
Zig
weee37 09-21-2004, 09:07 AM did they fix the big gap in the carpet coming off of 2 up high? or is that a new challange we get to deal with?
harringBONE 09-21-2004, 06:01 PM brian,
me tripleh, gimp and jet were the only ones brave enough last year. my guess is that it would probably be just the 2 of you.
The Jet 09-21-2004, 09:12 PM Brian, if you wait till next week I'll be able to run with you guys, and maybe we could talk HHH and Gimp into it.
Would love to race with you again.

NASCR3 09-23-2004, 06:43 PM  Holy ?@#!, I knew someone woluld have to say something negative. That track is 110% better than it was a month ago, and since when did we start racing on pool tables! Ken, Chris & I literally busted our asses to get it back close to where it was last year. No one else offered to throw in an extra hand so don't criticize for what you wouldn't do yourself, but for Wee and those of you worried about the gap coming out of 2 it's way out of the racing grove about a foot in from the outer wall. I don't know anyone who "RACES" out there. However if it becomes a HUGE ISSUE of course we'll repair it, and by the way if you are racing out there maybe you should consider a different hobby like pottery or knitting because you are definately not up to the task in this game.
John:mad:
P.S. If you want to see a track that's rough try attending a week long event on a temporary track where they race 24/7, by the end of the week there isn't even a track left you're racing on the plywood sub floor!!!!! I think some of us need to learn to appreciate what we have right in our own back yards instead of bitching about the small imperfections. We didn't have to repair anything, but the racing was so good last year that we felt it was the right thing to do.
RCRacer45s 09-23-2004, 07:35 PM aww old high and hard wont be thrilled haha. I know a few of us might be in maine this weekend and wont be able to come to the show this weekend.
The Jet 09-23-2004, 09:12 PM I love small talk...
but JOHN, why dont you say what you really mean ;) .
weee37 09-23-2004, 10:08 PM lmao, cheap entertainment.
disruptor10 09-23-2004, 10:19 PM WOW...nicely said John......some people just don't appreciate what they have ya know...........Big D
FASTALJR 09-23-2004, 10:54 PM I LOVE CARPET!!!! whens dirt start again.
NASCR3 09-25-2004, 04:47 PM Just to clarify, the "gap" is less than 1" wide starting at the outside wall, extending in about 18". WAAAAAAAY outside the racing groove and absolutely not a factor in any way. Not even worth mentioning, but since someone did, wanted to clarify.
"DIRT IS FOR PLANTIN TATERS!"
harringBONE 09-25-2004, 09:26 PM get er done john. i know that the hhh crew cant wait to get back to racing city.
RCRacer45s 09-27-2004, 11:11 AM so what went down over the weekend. who was there? results?
Razoo 09-27-2004, 03:43 PM The track is fantastic, any gap is a non-issue. If you came to a race then you would know that. As far as results go, Dave LaRue set a new track record with his truck with 76 laps!! He had a fast lap of 3.82! Next week he races with the cars :jest: . 6 trucks were in the main and again Larue won with one of the Smiths coming in 2nd. I'm pretty sure Chris Taylor won the pan car main, don't know the rest of the order, it also was a 6 car main. Mini-Ts once again were a blast, yours truely set a new track record with 59 laps. Minis had 2 mains, stock (sort of), and modified. It was nice to see some new kids come and race the minis. Pretty soon Ken needs to come up with some rules for the 2 divisions. All in all it was a fun night with a nice turn out, a few chairs were knocked over by some over zealous driving :D and everyone got their moneys worth. Looking forward to next week, I'm thinking about bring my pan car so please go gentle as this will be my first time with a car.
RCRacer45s 09-27-2004, 03:45 PM prepare for the Mini-T record to come down. Ive got my new Dirt Mod body and the thing is planted now no more lifting all the way around the corner. oh and ive got a ball diff now so my truck wont pause off of the corner
disruptor10 09-27-2004, 03:56 PM  Hey RAZOOOOO ..the chair thing was a classic ya know ! SWEET !!
Razoo 09-27-2004, 04:37 PM Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the mini-t record was set using my old motor, I put the new one in last night  .
Dave, I told my wife about the chairs, now shes afraid to bring the kids to come and watch :freak: !!!!!!!!!!!!!
disruptor10 09-28-2004, 10:06 PM  kens gonna have to turn the benches around so we can see whats coming at us LOL ...nice:wave:
RCRacer45s 10-01-2004, 03:13 PM Role Call....whos coming and whos running what. im in for mod if anyone shows! Plus i got my mini-t for anyone who wants to challange me.!! Track record is going down this weekend (in Mini-T) !!111
