NEW YORK -- The Wayans have long been a family of Hollywood. Now, they will be a family of monsters.

Keenan Ivory (http://entertainment.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=214703), Marlon (http://entertainment.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=221428) and Shawn Wayans (http://entertainment.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=174921) will write and produce a new film based on the 1960s sitcom, "The Munsters," Universal Pictures confirmed Wednesday. The brothers are making a contemporary adaptation of the story of a monster family that never quite realizes that their ghoulish ways are different.

No casting has yet been made official, but in the last Wayans written-produced film, "White Chicks," Marlon and Shawn starred as well.
The trio has also collaborated on the multiple "Scary Movie" comedies and "Don't be a Menace to South Central while Drinking Your Juice in the Hood."

The original Munsters TV show ran from 1964 to 1966. Since then, Herman, Grandpa, Eddie and the rest of the family have appeared in numerous made-for-TV films and the late 80s sitcom, "The Munsters Today."

... and expect a DVD release of "Blackenstein" to coincide with the film's theatrical debut.Well That would be Cool I could put it with my Mint condition Copies of "Blackula", "Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Jive" and "Abbey",A Blaxplotation "Exorcist" Ripoff the One-Sheet Reads: ABBEY DOES'NT NEED A MAN...THE DEVIL IS HER LOVER NOW! lol The Exorcisim on the Disco Dance Floor is a Riot!! lol I used to Work at one of those Beautiful old 1930's Movie Palaces, the Kind with the HUGE Screens and Lots of "Art Deco" But saddly like most of these Dinosaurs, before they were finally torn down completely,These Classic old Theaters Either became Churches OR in the Case of the "Towne", "State" and "Colonial" in Richmond Va. These Theaters Spent their Final Days Showing "Epics" Such as " Blackbelt Soul Brothers", "Carwash" and the ALWAYS Popular "Disco Godfather" (I swear this one is a real Movie!) lol I gotta admit though Just like Quintin Tarentino I really learned alot about Films (good and bad...Mostly bad) AND I collected a Buttload of One-Sheet Posters and Lobby Cards (11 x 14 Photos ) from Movies that are in a few Cases considered "Cult Classics now Days. I have whats refered to in "the Biz" lol a "Six- Sheet" From "Coffy" (Pam Greir) HUGE or Original Lobby Cards from "Enter The Dragon" and a BUNCH of AIP Films "The Incredible Two Headed Transplant" Ray Milland's Head Sewed on to Rosey Greer's Body! ya' gotta love it) or my FAVE. Poster of all time! FUTUREWORLD with Peter Fonda (All it is is a Guy with a set of hands yanking his face off to reveal the Transistor Radio parts beneath!) The FX in this movie Ain't quite on the Par as the Terminator, but for some reason I Love this Poster! lol Anyhoo I know I veered WAYYY off Topic but in sumation I guess There was a Time for everything See Through Plastic Pants, Blaxplotation Films,And Even "New Coke" Yeech lol Although they say Everything that Goes out of Style WILL come back again, like "Bellbottoms" there is just some things they should leave alone Like "Coke Cola" or "The Munsters" Just my Opinion.

Well at least Rudy Ray Moore isn't remaking "The Munsters". I can see it now:

Dolemite IS Herman Munster in: "Avenging Disco MunsterFu@!er!"

"Now Eddie, you look like a poof!
'Cause you wearin' velvet
And yo' doll is a werewoof!
Got that slicked back hair
It look like a process!
If you don't stop actin' sissy
'Gonna' kick yo' white fop a$$!"

LOL Sorry I Know I veered off Topic But I have So many Great Memories of workin' at this old Theater that looked JUST like the One in "The Majestic" That Jim Carrey Film. This was the Only Chance I ever Had to See "Godzilla VS. Megalon" (or any other Godzilla Movie) On a BIG screen Oh and I don't count that American version.lol Anyway Just look at Some of the CLASSIC And even NOT so Classic Motion Pictures or Television Remakes that have been or is GOING to be Attempted:

PLANET OF THE APES
SHAFT
SOLARIS
GODZILLA
THE ALAMO
For Some Reason I've Choosen not to list the "Re-Imagining" of Properties from one medium to another such as the soon to be released Live Action version of "Fat Albert" from the Animated Saturday Morning Classic. Didn't look to promising to me from the Snipet I saw. While I'm mentioning it What the heck Became of that "Garfield" CGI Kitty? I have a little Cardboard Cut out I gave the Kids But the actual Film Seemed to just vanish. But My point was about How this "Re-Imagining" Fad of late is,(IMHO) just giving us Pale imitations of the originals I began this to reach this conclusion Waaaaay Back in was 82' or 84'....? uh whenever John Landis gave his take on the Classic Twilight Zone only Landis' "Vision" Cost lives. well that probly isn't being quite fair, but hopefully you understand my Point? OH one of the BIGGEST Offenders (Again Only my Opinion here) That "Van Sant" Guy remaking "PSYCHO" with Vince Vaughan as Norman!?! Okay, THAT I might have forgiven but THEN Mr. Van Sant decides to change that Horror Movie Icon "The Bates Mansion" into some kind of Cross between a Bungalo and "The Courtyard by Marriot"!!!! AGRAHHH But Still to be fair I think I saw ONE good remake in my Short Lifetime,That would have to be John Carpenter's "The Thing" Say,I wonder if well live to see a remake or "Reimagining" of "Star Wars"? lol I hope Speilberg Does a Better job with his "War Of The Worlds" or Peter Jackson does a little better with his "Kong" than Dino De Laurentis did in 76' lol

Oh man. I just heaved all over my keyboard.

Just when I thought NOTHING could be worse than Adam Sandler starring in a Longest Yard remake, I get treated (?) to this pile of steaming excrement.

Why do things have to be "updated?" I know, I know. It's a rhetorical question. I know all the sad reasons and I'll write a novel if I start up - and I'm sure no one wants me to do that.

Lost in this vile thread are Lonfan's theatre memories. You should start a brand new thread on that topic alone. I have similar fond memories of the ones in my area. Plenty of old lobby cards and one-sheets wound up in my hands when theaters closed or cleaned house. I'm a member of a grassroots organization here in San Francisco that is desperately trying to save the grand old single screens. For a city so rich in history and teeming with "enlightened" citizens, you'd think something could be done to stop the razing of these movie palaces. In the last ten years, we've lost The Royal, The Alhambra, The Regency,The Coliseum and others. There's really only two left in all of SF.

But I digress. I'm gathering my torches, rounding up several hundred villagers and storming the studio that greenlighted this abomination of an idea.

Gee, I need to get in touch my feelings.

Gee, I need to get in touch my feelings.LOL Beautifully Said! And Thanks for the Mention Yeah This Type of thing just Angers me to no end! one other thing PY- I was in Frisco one time while in my Patty Hearst Phase (long Story lol) Anyhoo I was in a REALLY bad neighborhood called "The Tenderloin" does that sound right? Well I recall That as late as 1989 you could actually SMOKE in these Theaters (I saw a Triple Bill of Exorcist III/Robo-Cop2 and Sumptin Else I can't recall) The Fact you could Smoke in a Public Theater was just Amazing to me even Now! (Especially Nowadays in this PC Climate) But Again we Digress SORRY

What the hell were you doing in The Tenderloin?!?! Yep, that's about the worst neighborhood SF has to offer. Crackheads, muggers, prostitutes, drug dealers, etc. And...uuuuhhh...my friend told me about that neighborhood.....yeah, that's right....a friend told me about it.

Based on the film titles, I'd say you were at either the St. Francis or Embassy theater on Market Street. Both are closed. The last time I went to the St. Francis, many years ago, I was in the lobby and one fine gentleman picked up another equally fine gentleman and threw him onto the glass candy counter - shattering both him and the counter. Of course, this being the St. Francis, we walked on by and went in to see the movie.

Anyone who gives a damn about preserving the old movie houses should do whatever they can to help. Once they're gone, they're never coming back.

It's so Big they actually have to let it down in Sections to Clean. This Chandiler has appeared in a couple of Films (along with the outside) This fact and some others have caused this ONE Old Classic to be Spared! The City Was able to get The Byrd Theater on the "Historic Landmark" List so No Wrecking Ball IN FACT Last I herd The COMPLETELY restored Things as they were in the 1920's including Dressing the Ticket Takers and Concession Girls Like Vintage Flappers and Cigarette Girls and Bell Hops!
