Our track is 84' long by 38' wide. A bit small maybe, but we sure have fun.

i was talking about the glr track.. there web site said 60 laps in the results area.. showed only stock classes run.. all mains were under 5 cars..which usually means track is tight.. or small... regionals should be minimum of 8 cars on the track... 10 is what it should be
For what it's worth.....
Yes, you may be correct about the track size, but I thought you should know that the track the nationals will run on is even smaller than ours.

Halo Hobbies is hosting the Nats this year and the runline is going to be as close to Snowbirds as possible and the outside demonsions are 82x36.

I will do what I can to attend based on Traveling funds and time frame (fits in) I don't care if the track is large or small.

We worked out the logositics last week as well as the nationals setup wiht Josh and his wife Angel. Nationals are April 21 to 23 AND we will be having the ROAR Region 5 Carpet Oval Championship also at Halo Hobbies on March 11 to 13. The same classes will be run at the region race as nationals.

I have forwarded the national flyer up to Fred to be posted on the ROAR website. I will see where we can get the region flyer posted as well here. If you want, e-mail me and I'll send you the flyer.

The classes are for 1/10th and 1/12th are: 4-cell stock, 4-cell 19-turn limited modified and 4-cell modified. These classes cover the four required and the two demonstration.

i don't see any brushless classes mentioned, whats up with that??????????????????

erock1331

Looks like they offered 6 total classes -

4 manditory:
1/10th stock
1/10th 19T
1/10th Mod
1/12th 19T

and 2 demonstration:
1/12 stock
1/12 mod

IMO, it seems 1/12th scale is pretty much die-ing other than the Birds. So if anyone does run 1/12th, they will probably all decide on one class.

Even though I dont run brushless I would like to see em run to check em out.

ok what the heck is going on, why are the brushless guys being shunned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
up hear in michigan we have roughly 16 racers running brushless 4300 and 5800 in pan car and the count goes up daily. now we are adding them to trucks as well. roar is way off base on this call and someone needs to wake them up so they can smell the coffee. people are actually excited about these classes something that i have not seen in the oval venue in a long time!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll get more info posted this weekend. I hope to get up to Halo in person on Sunday. I'll get with Kenny and Halo and get all the info you need. This came together very quickly and the details will take some time to get all worked out.

Kenny suceeded big time on getting this race all setup. It's my job now to get the hand-off from him and I'm very greatful for his help. I have no doupt that Halo will put on a great show.
Please stay tuned.....

Thanks for the "hint" of support erock....oh that's right I pointed you again. I am sure John would love your help in Ohio. Then we'll see how it works out. Send John oyur number and he'll get you to work! We need a race official for the race for the region race...I am sure you'd be fine! BTW...the required classes for oval are 1/10th stock, 19-turn limited modified, modified, and 1/12th mod. National guidleines offer two additional classes for the track to choose. For nats Halo decided on 1/12th 19-turn and stock as demonstration.

As far as the region race....I would suspect it will be bring oyur own stock. Tech in and tech out. This has worked just fine for the past three years. We'll confirm with Josh.

As far as all three days.....I think we'll try to run all the qualifiers on Saturday ( 2 or 3) and maybe one round on Sunday with the mains. Use Friday as an arrival day and practice. Agian we'll work out the details with Josh.

No body is being shunned. Read the rule book and guidelines. The host track would like to run what they have posted. That is there right as the host. I was disapponted about no brushless and agree brushless would be great...but it is not a ROAR decision....so stop throwing the blame. If you want to participate in the event, come and race the classes offered.

BTW..erock John won the bet!

Been there done that brother, I did the ARCOR state director for about a year. You either have to be a racer or a director, not both, they just dont mix and you cant be truely effective at both. Racing is what got me into this hobby so that is what I chose, to remain a dedicated racer. That is why I bowed out and resigned, instead of just ignoring my duties.

Actually I was asked to take the Reg 5 position a while ago but declined for my reasons above, I would rather race then play the politics game. Just not for me.

But I give credit to the new director John, he did email back within one day.

That is all I ask is some respond to questions.

So I am sorry John for my negative views above which i will edit out.
I wish you the best of luck in your new position.

The region didn't need any sorting out. The only race that didn't scheduled in the calendar year was the region oval carpet. It has been set up now just in the spring. I have always accepted the error in not getting it assigned sooner. Region needing to be sorted out....don't know where that info came from...check Rev-Up. I'll put our record up against any other region from where we came from in the last three years.

Kenny I replied to your email.

I apologize for taking cheap shots at you and ROAR.
Like I said as long as I, as a racer, can get the info, I am happy.

John has responded very quickly to a couple of my emails which is awesome.

Hopefully this open line of comminucation continues between ROAR and the racers

ok...it is 2 weeks away. any entry forms available?

jkohan
02-25-2005, 11:27 PM
Entry form is still being finialized as are some of the misc questions.

I can tell you that most likely Friday Practice, Saturday Quals, and Sunday mains. 99% change the motor will be a "Bring your own" but it must be ROAR legal. THe classes are whats holding things a bit. They are trying to work in brushless but the jury is still out. Personal transponders will most likely be required, as they will be with the nats for sure.

I'll continue to pry for more infomation and post it when these details are 100% carved in stone......

Andy and davz , I will grab a flyer this weekend and post the info as soon as I can, hopefully Sat. night. As far as transponders, personals would be really nice, but we are barrowing some for the March race. I know Josh is trying to get in some personals so you can buy one if you need them. For the Nats, personals are mandatory per ROAR rules.

Attendance at all regionals is my new responsibilities with the ExComm.

there a race in akron at classic hobbies today the arcor open so most of the guys from there are staying home to race there they may have come to the region 5 race if it was on another weekend just my thoughts as to you did the scheduling for this race ...........

03-12-2005, 12:45 PM
my mistake its next weekend the arcor open and the cost for this race i think is a little high for a run your own motor race ...........

Kenny B
03-12-2005, 12:57 PM
$30 is nothing for a weekend race. We as drivers often over look the trophies/plaques, the time of personell (nobody works for free), electricity, rent, etc. It's a deal! You can spend $20 goign to a movie now with ticket and food at the show....

Kenny B

Rocketman
03-12-2005, 01:28 PM
but your forgetting the cost of gas, to get there food and a motel room for the night also so your spending maybe 100.00 before you get there ......

Kenny B
03-12-2005, 09:44 PM
The cost to get there is yours cost not the hobby shops. Should the shop offer a discounted race to accomdate travel costs? Then why be a shop? I am sure the major league baseball teams or football teams or NASCAR tracks don't give you a break for your travel costs. These costs are part of the hobby.

Travel costs are one of the reasons the events are rotated to accomodate everyone the best we can. I know first hand expenses!

Any Results??

Kenny B
03-13-2005, 02:40 PM
I know attendance was low and they were considering running a one-day event when i talked to Josh on Saturday. The low result was my scheduling the same wekend as the Michigan race at Lansing.

I am sure nats will have a much better attendence.

Kenny,

If you mean the on road race in Lansing that had nothing todo with entries. I think in MI there might be 5 guys that race both on road and oval.

Kenny, out of all of those people in MI that run oval and onroad, the total at Lansing for the weekend was, 2... Me and Kevin Marcy, I know because I counted twice.....

The other guy was Walter, He was working or sick all weekend and didn't race anywhere....
