I dont think classic had a regional in 2001, maybe in 1997 not 2001???????????

Classic's last regional was in 96' And nats in 98 and 02
So it has been almost 8-9 years We want another one...lol I vote for classic

This really needs to be announced soon. Not everyone can drop everything and travel for a weekend race. We need to know soon. please.

What spawned our interest in hosting the race, to be honest, was I received alot of emails and instant messages from guys in the region wanting some banked track experience, asking for a race at Classic...moreless in an effort to get ready for the Norrca Nats, the ARCOR open and the big Manufacturers / Oval Masters race in 2005 which are all on banked tracks this year. So I turned to Walt and said the interest is there, lets see what we can do about hosting this race.

I guess I dont see what the big deal is in picking a location...2 tracks are interested, both seem capable of hosting the race..Classic always draws a good crowd, I have never been to Grand Rapids so I cant comment on them but I am sure people will support them as well....so flip a coin, whoever loses out hosts it next year, simple as that ???

Or we can have it at the new flat track in Toledo.......or maybe not. My guess would be they'll get the Nationals since Radical Rick's is closed down now.

but it is in the same state.. giving the mich racers two year of close racing, and the rest of us two years of 6 hour rides... we need it to move around more to give everyone in the region a chance at not traveling so far.. belive me it help people attend the race... everyone isnt going to travel every year.... its been a long time since it has been on banks.. we need some banks again...

Hey, what about Indiana? Kenny, if the bid has been closed I'd understand, but if not, we could talk to the guys in New Castle. It's pretty central to everyone, plus, it's Snowbirds sized!

Why not run it at Classic? Walt put down new carpet 2 years ago and made it no smoking, which should help out the crowd seeing that we all dont go home smelling like a cigarette. Nice track and fast!!!! I vote Classic!!!!!

Kenny,.. Has there been a banked carpet National or Regional since you have been the Region 5 director? If i can remember right,..i have been to or followed all the nat's since i started racing in 96 and banked tracks have had higher attendance? Maybe i'm wrong can someone tell me.

I'm NOT tyring to start trouble, but I have to to say this.....

I've been following this thread since it's beggining, back when everybody was begging somebody, anybody to step up and host it. Just as soon as we made the decision to do it, and made the post that we would, someone says their track would also do it. Again, I'm not trying to create any problems as I'm sure Kenny will make a fair and reasonable decision not based on who was first or whatever. So..... let's all wait for him and see which location he's choosen and stop with the I want it here, or I want it there. After all, if everybody from Michigan and Ohio made a post saying they wanted it closer to them, this thread would be a zillion pages long!!

i still vote for classic... i have to drive 6-8 hours either way.. ive not run a bank track in 10 years... i think it would be great.. seems like the last few years roar has been all flat tracks.. and right or wrong i do not think it should be held in the same state twice in a row.. that will hurt attendance... roar has nopt been in the ohio area much a of late.. i think with this the roar numbers for the region can go even higher..

one or the other, we just need someone to step up and announce where this race is going to be. I know we are all busy and have other lives away from this website and even away from r/c car racing. But the turnout of this race depends on getting the track time to advertise the race. So will someone please go check on Kenny B to make sure he is still alive and has access to a computer?

Yes, one is Classic which I believe to be in Ohio,
the other is the Great Lakes Racers Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I don't get it...... theres no reason why it should take this long to choose a location...Kenny I'm sure your a busy guy, but theres a certain amount of responsibility that goes along with being region director.....I don't doubt
that you are a busy man and I'm not trying to be mean or anything just saying
that this stuff should have been sorted out a long time ago. I'm not boycotting roar or anything and I still plan on attending the race no matter where it is held because of the simple fact that I love to go racing. But its a shame that its going to end up a few miles away from where it was held last year. It would be nice to race in some different places and on some different tracks. I hope this isn't going to hurt the turnout.......

Probably the same reason the 19T rules changed 2 hours before the Spring race and one week before the summer race.....

well it should'nt matter where the race is at you all should be able to race and have fun its just a hobby ........... and you should be able to adapt to either style of track like nascar does .....................

I don't think that is as much of an issue as having the race in the same geographic location 2 years in a row.

It would of been nice to get an answer.. Some of use would have to make planes, But i guess no one cares

me21..... as I stated pages ago, we are willing to host the race. As soon as Kenny gives us the go ahead, we'll get things started. Until then, I don't know what else to say.

ok. so my home track can't have this race. boohoo. I wonder where in Michigan or Wisconsin this race will be held next year? I think it may be time for a new Region 5 director. Perhaps someone who will allow a race that is more than a 4 hour drive for them?

Cool, Maybe we can move it back to Ohio for atleast 1 year, I would like to see the Regional (as a warm up and The Nationals both next year not trying to be selfish but last time they had the regional and the national at the same track we had over 100 at regional and over 170 at the national, And i can say that was one of my favorite nationals ever, So next year i would like to see Classic Hobbies get at least one of the races. Any of you Roar Members remember what BANKED tracks are like......LOL ( didn't mean nothing by it) Well in closing Good luck to Kenny and all of ROAR I hope to see things keep moving foward and keep this hobby fun.

from what i hear. the nationals is going to be in ohio... but not classic.. i had heard it will be at josh cyruls new track halo hobbies. kind of odd they may have pick nats already, but not regionals... makes u wonder...

I e-mailed with Kenny yesterday, He has been swamped at work and busy with family obligations when he’s been home. That’s the reason you have not seen him post much in the last few weeks. I believe the plan for Regionals is to rotate to Ohio this year at Classic. He said he would contact Walt this week to pick a date.

I don’t know if it’s on the ROAR site yet but the Carpet Oval Nationals will be coming back to the Midwest this year at Josh’s track in Toledo. The last time the Nats were in the Midwest we had a great turnout at Scotty’s. I hope to see even more entry’s this year.

I missed that one. I guess will know more after Kenny and Walt talk this week. I do know there is no specific time Regionals have to be run. It may be next month, or could be pushed back till after the first of the year with no problems. So I think they would have enough time to promote the event properly.

Sonny, Only one problem with waiting till after the first of the year, there would be no 2004 regional, then next sept. we would alll be wanting another regional in the fall and the 2005 regional will have already be run. It's too bad things weren't sorted out a little sooner than Nov. I would have liked to have attended this year.

I know back when Classic first offered we were looking at Dec 4th or 11th as we didn't want to conflict with the Norrca nats which many Roar Reg 5 guys planned on attending this month.
