Things have been going well. I ran a little dirt last summer (ick!) and a half (assed) season of 12th scale at Louie's. Other than that it's literally been years since I have been racing. I am looking at jumping back in head first here shortly. Been scooping up bits and parts for a few weeks now.

You still living the oval life? I just might give the circle another try.

Track is super smooth....Real Nice....nicest flat track I have ever been on.....Not to Big..Not too small..or narrow...real nice..looking forward to racing there this Sept....
.
Hey Bojo....Glad more people showed up..would you believe it took me 2 3/4 hr to get home ....got slammed with traffic...In Maine and In Boston....That is why I would think Saturdays evenings are best for weekly racing......At the SOS..ask around...I would bet most would rather race Sat. Evenings........
.
1 hr. 40 min to get there..........2 3/4 to get home...go figure

to the other......thanks...Trying to fix the track at Swansea.....if they see for themselves what a smooth track layout is..Maybe some will come up on a Saturday to try this place out.....

Hi everyone, I plan on making it to practice there on Sunday. I guess the decission to be a ROAR track is a cost saving method and I have personal reasons for not renewing my membership after being a member for 12 years, but I'll give it a try. So I'll see you guys Sunday, and see how things go from there.

bojo

Bojo,
That's not fair, it's not about not wanting to support the track or the 25.00 ROAR membership fee, it's about being forced to join an organization in order to race at a particular track.
Bob T

It's not too different than real racing.
If Lee USA has a big race, and I race at a non-NASCAR track,
I can't race the big race at Lee, unless I get a NASCAR license..
SO..... what do you do...
Leave all of your expensive race stuff home, or bite the bullit and
spend a couple of bucks and race?
Joining an organization doesn't mean you endorse it, it only
means you joined. You don't have to promote them, you don't
have to like them, you don't have to do anything...
A lot of tracks are going that route, because liability insurance
is so ridiculous today. If tracks carried their own decent insurance,
they'd have to charge 20 bucks a week to race.
Nobody wants that.
ROAR for this application, is merely a 'group' policy.
If you're racing at a track or own one that does not have insurance,
then you're foolish.
If Screamin' Banshee Ultra Super Dooper R/C parts came out
with a 15 cent part that they charged 20 bucks for,
but everyone swore by it, you'd buy one in a minute...
I just look at it as 'an expense'.
I don't like it either, but the alternatives are worse.

Jim,
I've been to the track, I think it's beautiful.
Could use some more speed, but what else is new?
I'm going to try to make it this Sunday for some more practicing,
and experimenting...

Please forgive me, but I'm not sure which "Jim" you are!!
I haven't been reading HT that long, so I really don't know many
screen names.. I met "Bud" last week, and Jeremy.
Give me a hint... (OR your name! I have a good idea though  )

Whats up with the 35 racer limit?

Hey dancingd, yeah things are slowly getting back to normal (somewhat). I rode by after getting off from work - hardly no traffic at 7am. But I like the Super Buffet, all you can eat and a little of everything including some Italian dishes.

Yeah I guess I will join ROAR but I see the dues are $30 a year and that was the cost the last time I renewed. Is this a cost saving by joining through the track?

bud3738

Mobile mIKE...the pit area isnt as big as Swansea....It could probably pit 40 guys

but 35 would be comfortable......Unless 20 show up with as much crap as you..you and nick going...Im already Signed up

Glad to hear things are starting to get back to normal, I'm sure it has been a tough time. Were you able to see the track, when you stopped by? I'll see you there tomorrow.

If you are an existing ROAR member then it will cost you $30 to renew.

If you are a new member you can sign up at Maximus for $25.

Whats up with the 35 racer limit?

Mike Voccola

Hello Mike,

We have spoken on the phone a few times. To answer your question as to the 35 racer limit. Being our first big race we wanted to make sure there is plenty of pit space. We do feel confident that would could accommodate 45+ racers, but we would rather see how things go with 35 at this point in time.

Look forward to meeting you in person.

Maximus
