Hi-

I am new to slot cars but have been doing R/C for about 10 years now.

I recently got a slot car, out of curiousity, and they seem to be a lot of fun!

Anyways, I am looking to see if anyone has a controller that would be able to handle a wing car, not that I am up to that level but it would be nice to not have to upgrade. Right now I am running a spec car at a local track. But like I said, a good controller is a nice thing to have.

If you have any in great condition, let me know and send me pics at

dave_yee (at) hotmail.com

I am in Canada, and I can give you good references from other sources.

Please send me an e-mail, I check that more than this forum, but maybe not for long!

Cheers

Dave

Here's some auctions for Parma controllers (http://search.ebay.com/parma-controller_W0QQsokeywordredirectZ1QQfromZR8) . Basic controllers sell for around $20.

Thanks very much!

Any advice on which one to get - lower Ohms equals better power?

Cheers

It's a personal taste thing........but most 1/24 racers use the low ohms resistors. The higher the ohms, the more range of acceleration you'll get as you pull the trigger. Low ohms make your controller like an on/off switch.

There's probably some more hard core 1/24 folks over here: http://www.oldweirdherald.com/frames.html

do you know what motor you are going to run? If your in to it I would jump into a Difalco electronic fully adjustable. But if your on a budget go to at least a parma turbo pro 2 ohm.I have all external resistor controller and the electronic,I would not buy a $20 controller because they are just junk!Wing cars are on the money end of this slotcar deal,it cost some $$$$ to go fast and stay that way Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the input -

I'm a total knob when it comes to slot cars, but I can hold my own in RC...

Cheers, and thanks again for the advice...

just my opinion but a wire chassis with either a mura group 12 or a group 7 open motor, wedge body with side dams, front diaplane, and a rear kicker bearings, 64p gears 3/16 axle, 13/16 rear tires, and a 2 ohm or smaller wet wound stacked resistor with barrel heatsinks in a parma sebring controller, with the purple controller leads/copper alligator clips is the way to go. i have seen an "electronic" one catch on fire (once was enough). besides no need to buy a wire chassis make it.
