Question for the silvas.. I just bought a silva t plate, with the steer slugs... I for the life of me can not find where i put the slugs.. i cleaned my bench, and i think they got tossed.. this was an expensive t plate, and i was wondering if it was possible to replce just the slugs. I didnt see them available without the t plate . Id hate to throw out the t plate and never run it.. thanks

my email is boxerking1@charter.net or post here thanks

Mike,

I've got the slugs for a Silva plate I bought a year and a half ago. I'll give them to you next time I see you if you can wait. I'll look and make sure I still have them tomorrow.

I went looking for the slugs, but they look different than what is in the Silva pictures now. I'll describe so maybe someone familiar with the Silva stuff can explain.

I have on blue slug that does not have a raised part to fit the slot on the plate, just a spacer. I have one blue slug that does have a raised part to fit the slot and appears to have a centered hole. Finally, I have a black slug that has the raised part and an offset hole. I bought my Silva plate the carpet season before last. Now it looks like all the slugs are silver and it comes with 3 different ammounts of rear stear. Was there a previous version of the bar that I had or am I missing a third rear stear slug and the second plain spacer?

Mike,
I'll give you what I've got when I see you next and hopefully they'll work for you.

Pat

I've made some changes to the 10L4, now running the Silva chassis (short wheelbase standard IRS pod), IRS shocks, Darkside adj shock mount running a standard pod arrangement for flat oval track. Would switching the offset pod setup or adding the rear steer tbar help in turn and exit of car. Present setup is okay but feel it should be able to carry more speed without suffering turn in or exit speed or how it handles at times coming off - pushy/loose when turning under slower cars.

Daryl,
Hi, this Bob from R3designs, I am going to change the battery tray back to the 10L4 one and put the X2 rear Pod conversion on the X Factor so that I can see if there will be any difference between sprung and unsprung weight in the same general spot on the car (left rear). I'll let you know how it goes, the test is this weekend. The X Factor is a great car, I just want to see if I can make it even better. If you don't know what I mean by the X2 rear Pod Conversion, I have a thread on here, check it out. Talk to you soon.

Well, Putting the X2 Pod on the XFactor worked great, it seemed to calm the car down which made it smoother to drive however, I did not sacrifice any speed, I qualified 2nd in the A Main and finished 2nd, 1 lap off the track record because of traffic not because of the car. Overall I think the X2 Rear Pod Conversion complements the X Factor. Here are a few Pictures of the combo.

Ran my Silva car for the first time yesterday at our carpet season opener. It was pretty good out of the gate. I made a few changes and got the car running very well by the end of the day. Very good car.

I have the silva side shocks on my rip car! Is there a trick to put them togather as far as how much oil to put in them? It seems like to much oil you can compress them? Is there a way to bleed them? If you have any tips i would appricate it.

Thanks

All i have to say is I LOVE THE X-FACTOR,,, I ran flat track for the first time in my life last week and car almost drove it self, So i went to the ARCOR PA State Race, last night,( remember only second time ever running flat track) I quilifed 5th in the A main, and the X-Factor also quilfied 3rd in the A Main, It was for sure the most dominate car on the track all night, the 3rd place quilifer, got put down almost a half of lap right off the start and came back to finish 2nd, by only .01 sec., And also ran the fastest lap time of the night. This is all 4-cell stock........

I just started running the X-Factor after a 12+ year hiatus from pancars. WOW!! Still need to work a bit on the set-up. Seems to push alot all the way thru the corner. Not uncontrollably just takes to much time to get through.
I'm considering a caster adjustment. I have a spacer on either side of the upper a-arm on the left. two spacers in front of the a-arm on the right side.
Will this be too drastic of an adjustment?

thank,
Scott

To me caster is a fine tune adjustment.. I never notice a diff feel in the car by a castor adjustment, unless the car is really good and i looking for a slight change..

Thanks for the set up me21.

I need to get some serious practice time in to see what changes I need to make. I feel like I'm pretty close for the track that I am on. So I will take baby steps!

thanks,

Props to Zig for help with my car....

Got my car sitting on the front row this past weekend. X-Factor is so smooth to drive and turns like I have never felt before.

Great car.....Looking forward to this weekend already.

Just a question on the X factor, what advantages does it have over the L4? It looks very similar to the L4. I'm not starting anything just want more info. Different wheel base or more left side wt etc??? Thanks.
