hrtpumper 04-25-2005, 02:48 PM Hey guys,
Just got the silva built, wondering if you guys are running side shocks in outer hole on the cross brace, I am running offset pod, and could you guys give me you shock length. Just want to make sure I get full travel on this sweet ride. Thanks Mike
Monti007 04-25-2005, 06:22 PM Mike,
I think just about everyone runs their shocks in the outter hole. I am not to sure on length.
FYI Silva concept cars TQ'd both Brushless and 4 Cell mod at this past ROAR carpet nats.

chuck47 04-30-2005, 05:39 PM Ok Silva guy's I got a questioin on center springs:confused: How does the strength go which is the softest to hardest? The first two springs both measure .044 and the second pair both measure .049, obviously I have the springs but they weren't labeled (which I think would be a big help) to let us know what we just bought.
rccarmaverick 05-01-2005, 01:40 AM They come with a chart when you buy them. Gold, Silver, Copper, Black is the order, Gold being soft, Black being the stiffest.
chuck47 05-01-2005, 08:13 AM rccarmaveric thanks for the information that's what I needed to know. Just to let you know I can read and there is no chart in there that's why I was asking. I think they should put one in there it would be easy to do and not cost too much:)
captain11 05-01-2005, 08:53 AM chuck47 I believe they are written on the header card.
Daryl Silva 05-01-2005, 12:31 PM Chuck: There should be a sticker on the bag with the spring rates. I'm sorry that set didn't have them. You can also go to www.silvaconcepts.com and get all of the info you need. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

John Maher 05-03-2005, 07:33 PM I have 2 of the IRS 1/12th oval cars, and I love them both. They are always flying. Ask the guys at Hobby World and Stricklands.
rccarmaverick 05-03-2005, 08:06 PM Thanks for the feedback, I am picking mine up tommorrow!
JPHRacer 05-03-2005, 09:39 PM Monti it was a flat outdoor asphalt that was pressure washed and cleaned really well then a few good coats of rootbeer were laid down. Lots of grip. 180' drive line with 1&2 a little wider then 3&4. lap times were 4.0 sec.
DW
Daryl Silva 05-04-2005, 01:38 PM DW how did the motors run? We tested alot this weekend with them at Tamiya to get ready for the Reedy race. The box stock motor was the best motor I ran all day.

John Card 05-04-2005, 03:36 PM Daryl - where are you guys running the battery tray on a short flat asphalt oval?
Hey Daryl
Dave's stuff was fast and effecient.. His time in the main was a @ second faster than my T.Q. on saturday when the track was better.. I lead the first 3 minutes 15 seconds or so than Dave starting charging about the 30 sec to go he passed on the front staight and never looked back finishing stronger than me about 2 seconds ahead..He had it rockin. The crowd went crazy!!! It was totally awesome!!
I was so happy he finally has got things going and i hope it keeps up for him!!
When you guy's shipping front springs?
JPHRacer 05-05-2005, 12:24 AM DW how did the motors run? We tested alot this weekend with them at Tamiya to get ready for the Reedy race. The box stock motor was the best motor I ran all day.

They were off the hook. Never had that much rip before, ever. For a 6x1 it finished strong. I had 6 runs on the same set of brushed and will still run them more and more. They look real good.
The best thing is that in the second round I undergeared the motor and scorched the comm, but the brushes were uneffected by the over reving.
These motors are the next best thing in my mind.

dave w 1 05-15-2005, 07:48 PM x factor won again at marshalls r/c this weekend again this car loves 4 cell stock!

wowracer1 05-16-2005, 10:58 PM Any Silva Concepts guys coming to the NORRCA Nat's Memorial Day weekend in Henderson,TN
hrtpumper 05-18-2005, 10:57 AM Any concrete set-ups yet, going to msa this weekend to try the X-factor. Thanks Mike
hrtpumper 05-22-2005, 07:59 AM Well ran the car last night and was pretty good for first time out on banked concrete. I have not raced a cap tire race for about 6 years, about 3 tenths off of the fast guys in the main.
Well I have a couple of questions?
1st This was at msa in crossville tn, the batteries really need to be all the way to the rear for this track and with the x-factor tray it is difficult to move the tray any further back because of speed control mounting, would I benefit from running a 6 cell tray to allow the batteries to move back.
2nd wing pretty much has to be run on pod here, I threaded wing mounts into the toplate holes of the rear pod but would like to know if I should run the l4 toplate that has wing mount holes readily available.
3rd, and again the question arises about being able to run a larger spur gear, How much would the IRS extended pod plates change the handling of the car. I think on longer banked concrete tracks such as bms the car may benefit from longer plates.
Thanks for all the help guys, great car fun to drive and very happy after the first race I believe with a few tweaks I am going to be in great shape.
Monti007 05-22-2005, 03:58 PM Mike,
1) I would consider MSA more of a flat track that handles like carpet. For that reason I would run the batteries up three holes like we do on most carpet tracks. Make sure that you do not have the battery extender tray on backwards.
2)I do not think that the L4 top plate will fit....and if it does fit then the geometry will be off. I would not run it.
3) I would not worry about the size of your spur gear, a bigger or smaller gear will not show any performance difference on the track. As for the longer pod plates I am not a big fan of them. If you really want to run a bigger gear get a set of Kimbrow offset ride heights they are cheaper for one and will give you a little more room. If you run the car in the long wheel base position the car should be long enough with out the plates. I would try sliding the right front back .040 to .070 for MSA and keep the left side long.
If you want to e-mail me your set up and tell me what you car is doing I think I have a good grasp of MSA and should be able to give you some ideas. As for BMS set ups I am not sure at all. I plan to be there Wednesday of the nats to test.

hrtpumper 05-22-2005, 05:47 PM Monti, thanks for the help
The tray is not on backwards, he he, When moving the batteries back I was worried about rubbing the tire.
Well I was running the tray 3 holes up and the car was running well, my main problem was driving the correct line he he
Well in the dreaded turn 4 I would lose the rearend when trying to cut it off, but I believe the main problem was not getting in the corner well, the car was pushing a bit and by the time I had lost enough speed the car would lose the rear end.
How much you guys space out the left rear?? and give me an email address
I ran 38
winner ran 39
Thanks again
Love the car
JW Housley 05-22-2005, 09:31 PM Hey Mike.....winner ran 39 with 2 spins!!!!!!!;)

Ernie P. 06-02-2005, 10:24 PM With all the chatter about Silva (very good) shocks on this site, I have yet to see anything that looks like a set of actual instructions on the proper way to assemble the things! All the little tips and tricks, IOW. Has any one actually put together a set of "racer" instructions for building the Silva shock? Thanks; Ernie P.
JPH Racing 06-02-2005, 11:41 PM Ernie: Check out www.swiftracingproducts.com (http://www.swiftracingproducts.com) look in the "Technical" section for articles on these shocks.

Ernie P. 06-03-2005, 06:29 PM Jake; thanks for the pointer. I'll check it out. Thanks; Ernie P.
hrtpumper 06-04-2005, 09:00 AM Hey guys,

It looks like the blue is 0, silver 1/2 degree and black 1 degree??
Is this correct, thanks mike
rccarmaverick 06-04-2005, 08:17 PM Blue=0
Black=.15"
silver=.20"

both are rear steer t-plates
hrtpumper 06-13-2005, 03:38 PM Oh yeah need to run wing on pod also, maybe a toplate with wing holder holes, I have just used the rear screw holes on the top plate to attach my wing holder. I was thinkging of cutting a toplate myself with an extra set of holes for a wing holder??
Any other ideas, Thanks Mike
Daryl Silva 06-14-2005, 12:12 AM If you have any questions on what you have you can check our website at www.silvaconcepts.com. Sorry for not getting back to everyone but been busy traveling and finishing up the motor project.

hrtpumper 06-14-2005, 07:08 AM Daryl,
On the website under the rear steer t-plate there is only one picture and it is the t-plate with the 2 triangle slots. I am wondering which rear steer t-plate I hae that doesnt have any slots. thanks Mike
JPHRacer 06-14-2005, 02:06 PM Solid is the med-soft.
narrower 2 slot is med
wide 2 slot is firm
1 slot is softest
