View Full Version : Silva Concepts!! JH Racing 01-23-2007, 10:04 PM Same here my Silva has been running really well for me how can I get some t-shirts and decals. Monti007 01-23-2007, 11:17 PM We don't have a line of motors. Team Checkpoint is a totally different company owned by Steve O’Donnell. Duane is the lead engineer and product developer for Checkpoint. He also designs all of our products for Silva Concepts. Thanks for all the great reports. Our new battery tray will be done on Thursday with a few new components. Thanks again everyone!!!! Thanks, Daryl Silva Silva Concepts Team Checkpoint Maybe one day I can get on the "A" team so I can get the cool new stuff? Haha! -Monti- ToddFalkowski 01-23-2007, 11:31 PM Maybe one day I can get on the "A" team so I can get the cool new stuff? Haha! -Monti- Dang, I was hoping I could get the stuff from you!!! Was hoping to make Fort Wayne this weekend, but won't... Good luck to the Silva guys that run it... Think I'll be able to head there Sunday to watch... Frustrating, as I think I'm onto something good with mine... swtour 01-24-2007, 02:02 AM BigMatt, You were dialed in SMOD SILVAS - I only made SUNDAY, but I'm glad my son and I made the trip up...GREAT Racing, and as always Ruben did a great job. I had really hoped to be able to chase Dana around in the "B" to see if I made any improvements, but I had to change a "T" Plate after the 2nd round...and was able to make a couple laps before the main...then when I switched out the battery...I grabbed the dead one I practiced with...instead of the charged one. Oh well, twas fun anyway. It was great to see 80+ entries for a West Coast OVAL race. Kenwood 01-24-2007, 08:45 AM Maybe one day I can get on the "A" team so I can get the cool new stuff? Haha! -Monti- Yeah I was going to come and ask you what the story was...LOL... Sounds like your in the dark too.. Daryl Silva 01-24-2007, 11:07 AM No one is in the dark. Monti knows what we have coming out. They new battery tray for sure. The other components depend on graphite supply. We are changing a few of our components to thicker graphite. We will have a bunch of stuff at the birds. If anyone has any questions feel free to email me at silvadaryl@hotmail.com Thanks Daryl Silva Silva Concepts ToddFalkowski 01-24-2007, 11:13 AM Thanks for the info Daryl! After putting about 5 runs on my tires following your 15-20 minute soaking advice (generally 15) my tires softened a full 10 points!!!! PS- Thanks Daryl for the advice to use a Copper center spring, worked fantastic while I was TQ'ing, Winning, and setting track record at the Silva Race in stock :) In fact thanks for sponsoring the race too :) Monti007 01-24-2007, 10:08 PM How many times are you running your tires per day? I have learned to stay away from derometer readings because all they do is make you worry! HAHA. -Monti- JH Racing 01-24-2007, 10:42 PM What will be different on the battery tray. ToddFalkowski 01-24-2007, 10:51 PM ....I have learned to stay away from derometer readings because all they do is make you worry! I have to agree... Bought a durometer- between fumbling to make sure I got accurate readings and "chasing ghosts", I said hell with it.... Pull tire from bag, true to size, put on car, destruct, repeat... Works for me... kgbracing 01-24-2007, 11:56 PM well in addition to reading lower on the durometer you could just tell by feeling the tires that they where NOT right. you could FEEL the softness and they had an almost spongyness to them. kinda hard to describe :( I ended up putting paragon on the centers of the rears and edges of the fronts and immediately wiping it off and found my car to have immediate traction and be pretty consistent. kgbracing 01-24-2007, 11:58 PM What will be different on the battery tray. I heard that the tray will fit newer cells. Hey if that works for you than fine, the best methoid on preping tires is to be consistant. If you do the same thing every time than you are not going to have problems. Good luck! -Monti- JH Racing 01-25-2007, 08:54 AM That's good I will needing one . kgbracing 01-26-2007, 09:33 PM Hey if that works for you than fine, the best methoid on preping tires is to be consistant. Troy Meridith Beero 03-18-2007, 01:52 AM I ran a personal best 68 4:02 in MOD at classic hobbies, also taking my first mod win, great car. How can I get a t-shirt? Joel Biro burbs 04-11-2007, 04:08 PM Well i have never been a fan of the silve side shocks.. I had three sets in the past and all of them leaked.. , I recently aquired a set of the teflon coated ones in a trade.. I built them up and again they leaked.. I have built them, and had other build them and they still leaked..Now with that said I went down to lefthanders shop this past week, and picked up a pair of the new style end caps with the plastic insert. I also picked up a pair of the o rings for the end caps.. I built the shocks, and no leaking.. They feel super smooth.. The new end cap makes them so much better. I have always run the standard vcs shocks due to there smoothness.. I can say with this new style cap, i will be running silva shocks from now on.. I cant wait to run them this summer.. ToddFalkowski 04-11-2007, 08:58 PM I just built one for my 12th scale car (as I believe the hard anodized ones are the only way to fly... No leaks, smooth as silk... Works for me! Beero 07-09-2007, 11:58 AM I used my Silva X-factor to take 3rd in Brushed Mod this past weekend at the ARCOR paved worlds at Freddies Hobbies in Ravenna Ohio, Dayrl Silva finished 4th. I can't thank Daryl enough for all the help this weekend. Joel Biro beachbum2007 07-11-2007, 11:21 AM My Silva spec truck has been on a tear for the last 5 months at Thunderroad in Va and has been nearly unbeatable (Lost 1 main and 1 heat in 5 months). Before that, I was running an adx with moderate success, but this Silva is something else. Looking forward to more great products from Silva!! Monti007 09-11-2007, 11:53 AM I just wanted to wish everyone best of luck this up coming racing season. If you have any quetions let me know I will be more than happy to answer them for you. As for up dates to set ups I have changed the way I have done some things towards the end of last season and over the summer. One thing that I do now is run a hyperdrive center shock mount. What this shock mount does is move the shock further back and allows it to be adjusted easier. I know that over the past months, or years that I have not been the biggest fan of the protofrom HD dodge body. But now I am starting to like this body more and more every time that I run it. One trick that I found that makes it work is to add rake when mounting it (approx .400 to .500). I know this seems odd but this is what I found this body needs. As for the THD I think that with the way I am mounting the Dodge now that the two bodies are really similar however the Dodge tends to be a little tighter off the corner. Again good luck this racing season, and please post your questions or advise so everyone can share in the information. Thanks -Monti- Josh Keller 10-01-2007, 07:26 PM .....
