HEY GUYS putting my silva car back toghter on a small 115 ft ozir track what t plate are ya using most also are you running offset or straight up this is for stock tight corners

Monti007

Dave, I would run an stock associated .063 or .075 stright cut t-plate and run the pod centered.

Keith I would normally run a hotter motor than a nine turn at a velo but if you are to run a nine gear around 2.65 with the motor pulling 17 amps at 1.5 amps (18 to 24 degrees of timing). It should shut down a GFX at three volts for sure.

Well I dont uderstand this but I will hope it will come across. The new silva shocks have the larger whole for shock shaft as well as the white spacer/insert for support an leakage.Anyhoo there hard to find(the white piece on the cap through shaft). The kits ordered by my hobby shops dont have them. They go bad alot and no replacement.I had the hobbyshop order like 100 individually .MYthing is they need to be in the updated rebuild kits.

Yeah I got 2 new rebuild kits from lefthander and they didnt have the white insert that goes into the shock cap, I used my old one but was wondering if it forgot to get put in or what. I didnt even use the white spacer that came with the rebuild kit, shock built great and felt great but I wanted to change that piece also?????

I will say this they leak like a sib and should be in the rebuild kits and are not.I now see why alot of fast guys use the trusty reliable original associated shocks.

Daryl, Monti,Duane etc..
I am in a bit of a rut with my X-FACTOR. We finally got to race this past weekend in NORCAL "GROUND POUNDERS" & i was two laps off pace in 19 turn! Good enough to start 4th in the A but not good enough to run with JAKE, DAVE, AC etc.. I can't seem to get the car to turn anymore"no front bite at all"!I have tried several changes, springs, tires etc.. Jake & I are going to take a look at the car this week but I would still like some X-factor Drivers advise as well! I am not use to being two laps off pace. I will e-mail my set-up to whom ever so we can talk about some changes. Appreciate ANY help. Thanks. George. I race against 18 Maverick cars & two pro 3's. I am the only X-FACTOR driver in NORCAL.

I was looking at the picture of the front end on the website and I was wondering who makes those upper suspension arm eyelets? Are those stock Associated pieces? Thanks!

Monti007
05-28-2006, 07:55 PM
Kraig those are stock assocated shock ends for the TC3/4 part number 7217. I have run them off and on over the past few years no real difference in performance you will have to drill out the threads to fit the camber turnbuckle.

Maverick have you had a chance to run yet?

I ran the car this past weekend. I had alot of trouble with traction, car would have been perfect for drifting! I stayed with what You & Daryl gave me for set up help, Car was just a bit too loose. Next race is fathers day, i will be tuning more aggresively for that race. I really wanted to just do the changes you guys gave me the last race, but it wasn't right for the track, so i did alot of drifting. Anyways we will get it there! Thanks George.

Monti, I just got a Silva chassis. How do you mount the wing to the pod for the Tri-Clone race?

Monti007
07-11-2006, 02:37 PM
just use long set screws where you would normally mount the top plate, and then screw on your wing mounts.

I ran flat asphalt last year at a FOCAR race and ran rather respectable with running BSR pinks and a purple right front for tires. Gold LR side spring Blue RR side spring and a Silva copper or black in the center on an .063 stright cut t-plate. I always seem to run an off set pod and mount the wing to a Protoform HD Monte body. Run the battery tray up three holes and all the way out. I would like to slide the rt front back another .040 from all the way up. Red front springs left and right and I try to run around 3 degrees on the right and 2.5 on the left front for camber. That is the basic stuff except for oil which is around 50 wt in the center and 35 in the sides which I pretty much run at every tack. If you have any other questions just ask.

The set up that I posted for Jman should get you close. As for the center shock I run a KSG mount on my cars and range from the third hole from the top to the third hole from the bottom. On asphalt I would say keep it towards the top you can never have enough rear bite.

When I mount my side shocks I use CRC 1/12 hex ball pivots. They are about .030 shorter than medium length ball studs. http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/modules.php?name=Shopping_Cart&file=product&c_op=viewprod&prodID=1361

I hope this helps and keep me posted on any other questions or comments.
