View Full Version : Info on Oval Racing in florida please
Intimidator 08-11-2004, 01:03 PM Seen some threads about RPM Speedway and Strickland park.
I am new to the area and about 1 hr away from each area.
Never really done any Oval racing except a little dirt oval back in NJ but only for like a month, also did some touring car racing but thats was only a few months also. So I am pretty new to organized racing.
Was wondering if I could get some info on what type of tracks each place has and what classes they run. I am really interested in running some dirt oval with my B4, will modify it to be a dirt modified if that helps or some ashphalt oval if there are any touring classes, i have a factory team tc3.
Will run carpet oval if there is no place to run above cars would prefer not to have to buy a nother car when i have good ones already.
Any info would be apreciated
Thank You
rcgen 08-12-2004, 06:12 PM Strickland RC park in Daytona/Ormond Beach has a little of everything. Friday Nights they race touring mostly nitro and very few electric. The second Saturdays of the month, Mike Bean host an oval race. Racing starts at 5pm classes are 4c stock, 19t, 19t truck, 12th scale, touring oval, "Rat" class. The other saturdays for off road.
Not real sure about RPM's race schedule. There is an oval race this Sunday, indoor carpet. Come by and check it out. Classes are novice, 4c stock, 19t, trucks, 12th scale and touring oval. Check for the FOCAR threads.
OBTW, I race at Hobby World in jacksonville on Friday nights. Racing start around 8pm. Every third Saturday we will be racing too...Classes are Legends, pro-spec, 4c stock, 19t, and breakout all are oval and of course our touring class all on a flat slightly bank asphault.

Intimidator 08-17-2004, 11:05 AM Ok first my name is Ed, that short enuff for ya?
I live in Titusville, Jacksonville is kinda a haul and Branford is even farther.
I went to RPM yesterday and was fooling around with my TC3 on the carpet Oval.
1 of the guys there, dont remember his name, talked me into going to strickland this sat to run my B4 on the offroad. So i'm gonna head there and check it out will probaly go there on a sat they are running oval to give that a try also.
Thanks for all the info and hope to get to meet some of yall out at the tracks.
Intimidator 08-25-2004, 11:50 AM Hey yall talked about races at RPM on sundays but from what I see the FOCAR series runs on monday nites. I ran there this past monday in the touring oval class, what a blast.
But where can i run oval on a weekly basis, even if i have to buy a pan car, that would be a little closer to me than Jacksonville or Branford and be on the weekend. I will be going to school mon-fri at nite in a couple weeks and need weekend racing.
Otherwise im gonna have to race touring or off road but am having alot of fun with oval and would like to stick with it.
For all you strickland guys i will be there in sept for the 2 day race looks like its gonna be alot of fun.
98Ron 08-25-2004, 02:39 PM Oval every Staurday night in Ft. Luaderdale, high banked concrete oval.
I live in melbourne and make the 2.5 hour drive every chance I can.
Oval racing in Fl in mainly west coast, orlando and Jacksonville.
Intimidator 08-26-2004, 06:28 PM Orlando would be perfect, West coast about a 2hr drive Ft Lauderdale would be over 3hrs for me kinda a haul.
