Anyone have any experience with ADX cars? It look very much like the L4 slider. I have been offered a complete rolling chassis with 4 and 6 battery trays for 100.00 It comes with hyperdrive center shock mount, IRS front aluminum castor block, HPI center shock, and blue steel t-plate. Any starting setup will be appreciated for a smooth flat carpet oval 160 ft run line. Thanx

I wouldn't buy a car that is no longer made it doesn't have any parts support.

Hard to disagree with pepe... I love my old Trinity cars, but making parts is getting old...

I beg to disagree, ADX from the looks of it is 99% Associated. Only the main chassis was cut to be a slider. The original L3 and L4 are solid chassis, Greg and Brad saw the need for more battery placement and thus result into an ADX which started the boom in specialized oval cars ~ KSG, Hyper etc....I may be wrong.

Worse comes to worse, if it's in good shape pick it up. For another $100-150, at worst, you can convert it to a Silva, or the myriad of other conversions out there. I worried about the carbon fiber on the TRC & Trinity cars I was running... Sucks having to cut plates with a dremel....

Todd, I hear what you say. It is a pain to cut carbon fiber. Funny you mention " conversion". Just about everyone of the oval cars out there is an innovation of L4. The 2 most important part of the car , the front suspension and the rear pod,is still an Associated original design. That is probably why Assocaited has not come up with an update of L4 other than adding a slider. I guess, if it aint broke, don't fix it.
Rock On, L4

I am not sure if there is going to be any updates. We an a solid L4 chassis last year at Snowbirds in 6 cell but I am not sure if anything is going to come of it..

I asked the same question to T.A. recently and there is no plan for an improved L4 or a possible L5.Maybe if Silva makes a fully updated version or other folks present a similar model but with better rear pod (not having to fight putting the motor in it).

I need some input on a new product. I am currently testing a side shock mount that will let you move the shocks up and down like on some of the higher end race cars (no names needed). These mounts would let the shock length be longer so you can use less preload on the side springs but the proper length if you use the associated plastic ball cups. The top mounting hole will let you set the shocks level with the ground, and I know this is a good thing for cap tire racers because this is what i race. I tried my prototype design today and had good results, I qualified with the second fastest qualifying lap and qualified second in the heat races. Got in a incident in the race and the battery tape broke so I didnt finish too well. If anybody is interested in these let me know... Im not just making them for myself and would like to get rid of a few sets. Oh yea, my associated car drives better than my hyperdrive now with the side shock mounts and a ksg center mount! As soon as i get the final version of these done I will post a pic.

Thanks
John Mcdonald

Ive got the cad drawings coming for these and already found somebody to anodize them blue. now just got to find somebody to cnc them. pics will be up real soon.

Thanks

JMC - why dont you make it an Arc instead of an L shape so it won't change your preload? Just a thought .......

jmcdo28
12-10-2006, 05:11 PM
i thought about that, but it complicates it some. i am going to give the machinist the drawings and also a hd pro3 tower to see if he can do the arch. I know this project is taking some time but i have a job, a small business, and 3 kids! trying as hard as i can, but thanks for the suggestions.

L4 discontinued? Probably although I suppose there are still quite some parts available. Hey I think it's been out for what?! 4 years if not a little more?

For sure I've been confirmed by AE that no L5 in their plans at all. Therefore , Silva parts should be considered. I havnt raced much pan cars for 1 1/2 year (in fact I decided to drop this class) but last times I bought Silva parts instead of AE.
