So far we've had Denise Richards play a brilliant space pilot, and a brilliant nuclear scientist. Yoiks!

Born in 1971. At the time of TWINE she was 28. :freak:

Why she's old enough to lust after with a clear conscience!
Thanks John!

I don't think the age difference complaint is completely accurate. I have encountered many upper 20 (Denise Richards), lower 30's (Halle Barry) age women very attracted to Pierce Brosnan in his late 40's (but not Roger Moore at the equivalent age).

uh so lessee:

Sean Connery....1930 fb 1963 ra 33 lb 1971 ra 41
George Lazenby.1939 fb 1969 ra 33
Roger Moore......1927 fb 1973 ra 46 lb 1985 RA 58
Timothy Dalton..1946 fb 1987 ra 41 lb 1989 ra 43
Pierce Brosnan...1953 fb 1995 42 today 51

So what can we conclude?

Moore is really Dick Clark?

Lazenby has a great bio (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0493872/bio) (2nd one)

and Brocolli (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0110482/bio) was once a coffin maker, while Connery (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000125/bio) was once a coffin polisher. Coincidence?

Cut and paste didn't work?

These are not real ages, it's movie ages. Just like real ugly and movie ugly. Movie ugly is a pretty girl with glasses and baggy clothes. Movie age is looking the part. 35 year old teenagers, and 60 year old starship captains, are common.

I always had a soft Spot for "Never Say Never Again" Simply because of Barbra Carrera! lol So I guess I should have said "Hard Spot" Sorry couldn't ressit Anyhoo TREK ACE You mentioned Adrian Paul, and that's interesting cause' he reminds me ALOT of George Lazenby (And BTW I thought ..."Secret Service" Was a decent Bond Film But for me it's like Trying to get used to the other Doctor before McCoy took over on Trek TOS. Anyway yeah Connery IS BOND but Live And Let Die is My favorite of the Moore Films (Jane Seymour is VERY easy on my Eyes lol) I love the Theme Song for View To A Kill by Duran Duran! It reminds me of the old "UFO" TV Theme. The Film it's Self was pretty weak I mean Come on who's believe GRACE JONES as a Bond Girl? Come to think of it who's gonna Believe She's a Girl at all!!! LOL Sorry Btw I agree with one of you who said you needed an older guy to be an experinced Spy,I mean Look at that "Bourne Identity" Matt Damon just looks to kidish for my Taste.

Bana chosen as next Bond: report

11:57 AEST Sun Aug 1 2004

AFP - Australian actor Eric Bana, star of films including The Hulk and Troy" is the surprise new choice to take over as James Bond, a report said.

The beefy 35-year-old had beaten off competition from British actors such as Jude Law and Ewan McGregor to take over the role of the super-spy in the long-running series of films, the News of the World said.

Current Bond, Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, has stepped down after four films following a row with producers, the Sunday tabloid title said.

Bana was still negotiating with the series producers but they were hopeful he would take over for the 21st title in the series, due to begin filming later this year, the paper cited an unnamed "insider" as saying.

"Eric is the guy they want but he has a reputation for being demanding. They want to modernise Bond and turn him into a youthful, suave and modern hero to compete with the likes of Spiderman and Keanu (Reeves) in the Matrix," the source said.

Bana was formerly a popular comedian in Australia before grabbing attention in 2000 film Chopper, in which he played a real-life character, a famous - and famously violent - Australian criminal, Mark "Chopper" Read.

He has subsequently appeared in a string of US blockbusters, most recently playing Hector in swords-and-sandals epic Troy.

The James Bond films, based on the novels of Ian Fleming, have proved hugely successful ever since the first title, 1962's Dr No, in which Sean Connery took the lead role.

NOOOOOOOOOOOoooo! http://forums.instagiber.net/images/smilies3/zbanghead.gif

Bana has absolutley NO screen charisma. I can't stand to watch him. And I don't think either The Hulk or Troy were considered very big successes. Who's making these knuckleheaded decisions?!?!

I say: if an Aussie is acceptable - Hugh Jackman is your man!

Well... I didn't like him in "HULK", but I thought he actually carried "Troy". Hard to say what he'll be like for Bond. I think HJ would make a good bond.

What the hell?

Anyhoo, I wish Pierce would do one more, and I wish it would be a classic spy piece instead of an effects romp, so we can see just how good he is as a real Bond rather than a prop in an effects scene.

I can see Ewan Mcgregor as Bond after "Down by Love", he's already got the tux!

How about bringing back Spectre? I'm kinda getting tired of Bond taking on Corporate crazies, drug kingpins, underhanded Generals seeking power and the old forms of goverment or some megalomanica. I don't know? Maybe in todays world it just wouldn't work, but with the right Bond and the right story?....just maybe.

Drug crazed hollywood producers try to make the world barf by making lousy movies. It is up to Bond to shut them down for good.

You do make a very good point.
These are the same people who at one point thought the first Batman movie should be cast with Bill Murray as Batman and Eddie Murphy as Robin. Oh...the pain...the pain.

Would SPECTRE work today? Of Course. We have Al-Queda(sp?) and Bin Ladin. SPECTRE would just be more ambitious and motivated by greed. All these wealthy bad guys are just Blofeld one shots with plans of global domination or terror anyway. Pretty much the same thing. In the Gardner novels SPECTRE is run by Blofeld's daughter. I don't care for a female M but female Blofeld would be great. In TWINE Sophie Marceau was deliciously evil and I wished she would have escaped to return again. Had the script been written to reveal she was Blofeld's daughter would have been excellant.

"News of the World"?
British tabloids shouldn't be a source for any kind of "news".

If it ain't Bana expect that tier of actor.

No Jackman, no Law, no MacGregor, no other big paycheck, established star.

If EON is ditching its current star over money why would they then hire a big cheque from the get go?

Brosnan wasn't exactly lighting the big screen on fire with "Nomads" or "The Lawnmower Man".
Dalton was and is a minor character actor.
Moore was a TV star.
Lazenby wasn't a thespian but a male model.
Darby O'Gill:Little People Harder wasn't beating down Connery's door.

The next movie is almost guaranteed to be a box office hit on the franchise name alone so long as the actor remembers his lines and hits his marks.

All those people were well known, at least visually. Dalton wasn't happy in the spotlight.
The reality is a spy is anonymous, like Alec Guinness' Smiley. The reel-ality is that the audience wants a de-boner swavie dude. Bana is kind of...not.

Lewis Collins, the movie "The Final Option" and the British TV series,MI5,and the Professionals, would have made a great Bond.

Well, perhaps it's better to say I thought he was the best thing in Troy. I personally didn't hink it was that bad a flick.

It doesn't matter who plays Bond. The series is pretty much dead.
Esp. since "Chubby" died and he daughter took over. She made Bond
sooooo Politically Correct you really have to wonder whats next....
"License to kill". Becomes "License to mildly slap you"?
And I still can not believe that the producers passed up on Bond
going after Terrorists. That only would have added another 20 years
to the series. James Bond was he most successful during the Cold War.
I guess they didn't want to upset the French. Or give Micheal Moore
a stroke. Yeah, that would be just awful.

Funny you said that. After seeing "Goldeneye", I had a friend tell me, "YEAH! It's about time Bond got back to kicking Commies around. That's the way it should be."

Maybe a Bond series perpetually trapped in the 50's-80's?

Update:

Eric Bana has rubbished the reports of him being the next Bond. He's said he has no interest in the part.

Did anyone see Quentin Tarantino on Jay Leno this week? Leno asked about the rumours of him directing a remake of CASINO ROYALE. Taratino admitted he had started the rumours himself. He did say that if he did do it, he'd like Pierce Brosnan as Bond, he'd like to do it as a period piece (I think he mentioned 1964), and he'd like to be true the more Mickey Spillane-style character of the book.

Somehow I don't think it's going to happen.
