View Full Version : Official RCIndycars Thread WhirlinGraphics 11-19-2005, 08:33 AM IndyCars are impossible to drive at places like Chicagoland and Montreal in 6 inches of snow! :p The Bridgestone Blizzak Snow Tire 400? chad  ernneal 12-01-2005, 09:48 PM Here ya go guys.. an evil Champ Car to dodge when you are lapping me. haha http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/ernneal/CC-RC.jpg Its not Velodrome ready with this body but it'll work for Stout Field or wherever. ;) Its an old Associated Penske PC-18 body, by the way. I like it because it is a little taller on the sides and the side shocks fit under it easily. :) kato71 12-02-2005, 07:36 AM Hey it lives! Just don't hit anyone! Otherwise that body/front wing wont be long for this world... j21moss 12-02-2005, 08:58 AM sweeet!!!! It's Target time!!!!!!! LOL...I have one of those bodies... I thought it might work on that car.... Associated made it for the wide oval chassis years ago... I ran that body back in 1990 at the very 1st Veodrome race ever held there...Man am I old or what???? Matt Graves!!!!! don't answer the question!!!! just shut up!!!!!! LMAO!!!! ernneal 12-02-2005, 09:27 AM Hopefully my front wing will last a little while. I have a Tamiya T93 wing underneath it (the high speed version). I have it cut down and some bumper foam filling in around it. I'll try to get some laps on it at my local track in the next few weeks. Bob was saying something about a New Years Day Indycar race? j21moss 12-02-2005, 03:08 PM oh yeah.. there will be plenty there to run!!! rockin_bob13 12-02-2005, 03:11 PM Your car need to get a little head. Heads are required on open wheel cars. Stout Field, New Years Day Race, let's all bring the open wheel cars out for some trophy action. BC ernneal 12-02-2005, 03:15 PM Ohh.. NOW you tell me I need a little head in there. Can I use anything or does it have to look like a drivers helmet? Would say, a Paul Tracy bobblehead work? haha j21moss 12-03-2005, 09:53 AM yeah..but make sure his "big" head is a little loose so we can smack it around a couple times!!LOL kato71 12-04-2005, 06:01 PM Yeah has to look like a driver's head, no cartoon character's heads allowed. mGraves 12-08-2005, 11:50 PM Ohh.. NOW you tell me I need a little head in there. Can I use anything or does it have to look like a drivers helmet? Would say, a Paul Tracy bobblehead work? haha I think you mine as well paint a target on your car............and I'll buy dinner for anyone that puts you over the boards!!!!! k7king 12-09-2005, 08:20 AM Looks like I get a free dinner. I have plenty of practice wrecking Ernie. Captain Chaos. ernneal 12-09-2005, 12:05 PM Sweet.. I'll just stick myself over the wall. Will you buy me dinner then? :) So much love in this class.. I've already been punted off the track and haven't even made a lap yet. haha Yip, I think k7 will be getting some free dinners out of this. k7king 12-09-2005, 12:44 PM What kind of walls do you have at stout field?......wanting to know how much stunt driving I was going to have to do. What is a good starting gear ratio? rockin_bob13 12-09-2005, 01:58 PM 20/116 @ 2.3" tires. Ern, did you find a little head for that car? I found a box in the back room that has a spare little head in it if you need it. BC k7king 12-09-2005, 02:28 PM Ern always needs a lil head........ ernneal 12-09-2005, 03:01 PM I heard that Mike! No, there are some with those HPI bodies. I'll just use one of them. I just like keeping you guys awake in here. :) ernneal 12-20-2005, 11:49 AM How many open wheelers are going to be at Stout Field for New Years? K7King and I are going to bring ours. Need to get my driver in the car though. Its running, just headless for the time being. rockin_bob13 12-24-2005, 05:15 PM Big money race at the annual Race Street Raceway's New Year's Day Race next Sunday. Always a good time and the best way to start off the New Year. R C Indy's will be there. BC ernneal 01-03-2006, 10:17 AM Well.. what a bummer. Sorry I couldn't give you any competition on Sunday at Stout Field, Bob. Looks like I still have some new car bugs to work out. latemodel100 01-26-2006, 12:11 AM Got mine on order waiting patiently, if I can get it before this weekend BOB I will bring it and the other parts so you will have it to work on it............ Thank you Darrell j21moss 01-26-2006, 08:05 AM oh Bobby!!!!!!! any open wheeler's this weekend????? I might run a 2nd car this weekend.. let me know??? Taz_S 10-07-2006, 11:17 AM the website not worrking any one have photos or the car?? kato71 10-09-2006, 11:22 PM the website not worrking any one have photos or the car?? I just checked the site and it is up and running... http://www.rcindycars.com is that what you are trying to get to? kato71 12-04-2006, 12:43 AM Long overdue, but the website has been updated! kato71 06-06-2007, 03:27 PM Re-post of mxrich: The RCIndycars Spitfire of Ned Smalts win round #2 in Cumming, GA on May 27 at the Sugarbowl raceway. Up against the current World Champ Heath Mahar with his Hyperdrive F1 and the #2 driver with an MLP car and the #3 HPI driver Brett Mcgee Neds pulled it off with some serious smooth driving. Some local drivers with Tamiya F103's and Hybrid Associated cars kept the crowd on edge in the main and cheered as the lead car tagged the wall to give Ned the lead which he help to the finish. Not too bad for his first F1 Tour race. Ned Is from the Easley, SC club and now plans to enter a few more of the tour races to gain points for the Spitfire...go get'em Ned! kato71 06-06-2007, 03:33 PM Additional News and what is happening at RC Indycars... New Baby is starting to sleep through the night...yeah! This allows me to get some other work done and this is what I'm working on: Newly designed rear cross brace for Spitfire and another one for Cosworth, Cosworth2, Thunderbolt, T1 and maybe also the GRX. Indycar/IRL body, if all goes well, will make other bodies to fit the cars IRL / CART / F1 Decals Designing a new Spitfire front-end Designing a Front end that will work on Cosworth, Cosworth2, HPI F1, Tamiya F103's. Redoing the front end of the GRX for both short and long track front end adjustments. No ETA on this stuff as family and full-time job take #1 & #2 time slots...but I'm working on the stuff and will release as I can get them done... mxrich 06-16-2007, 12:11 AM Looks like the next F1 Builders Cup may again be in Carbondale, IL on the carpet. I'll put the date here once the info is out. Is RCIndycars going to unseat Hyperdrive this year for the #1 Cup? It will soon be time to throw down the smack and throw out the rules. Current champion Hyperdrive will return along with MLP and NIKKO. New guys on the block will be the Alpha F1 team with their new F1 car. Chances are very good that HPI will return also for a rematch since they tied with Hyperdrive for 1st and came in second only by position. Serdar Aytemiz from Turkey is trying to land a deal with Christian Keil and/or Chevron models (the cyber F1 cars) to have a team ready also. This guy is fast. He ran away with the 6 and 4 cell classes in the F1 AllStar tour race. Time to get the Spitfires warmed up! 67-4-fun 06-16-2007, 02:41 AM right now the spitfire holds the track record at the indy velo this year in brushless 10.5 by me, but don't know how long that will last before I break it again LOL!!! just having fun!! JP mxrich 06-16-2007, 07:49 PM That's me also. For some reason they keep putting the walls too close to the track, and I keep turning the cars back into kits. Some reassembly required. mxrich 06-17-2007, 10:51 PM I keep going to your forum to keep an updated eye on stuff. What are those weird post's people are putting on there? I'm not sure I want to open them. Maybe it's nothing but I wanted to check first. kato71 06-18-2007, 08:12 AM I'm shutting down the forums for now, too much hassle with phishing posts and some of the guys check here and some check at other sites, so I will just try occassionaly to go around to the different sites and see what is happening. But if anyone has a problem or question they can also email me directly through the website. mxrich 06-20-2007, 01:08 PM OK, I was wondering about it. That is probably the safe thing to do for now. Here's some more news. We are putting together a Builders Cup race on the same day as the racing cars (F1) for touring cars. You remember them right! The ones with doors, cupholders and floormats. :) This plan was to get more coverage for the F1 race since everyone has a car with those spool down windows. Should be a ton of fun. Can't wait. This may be none of my business but why does RCDiver magazine go to Indy every year with touring cars and drive them in a circle when you are right up the road with cars made for that and the F1 races? Seems like they would be very supportive of a local car builder in a setting such as Indy. kato71 06-21-2007, 01:46 PM This may be none of my business but why does RCDiver magazine go to Indy every year with touring cars and drive them in a circle when you are right up the road with cars made for that and the F1 races? Seems like they would be very supportive of a local car builder in a setting such as Indy. Working on that actually, just never have the time to get it done. But hoping to work out a deal with them to have the Indy guys running Indycars. Typically they prefer to go with people that Advertise with them and since there is no budget or available funds to advertise in their mag, it makes it a little more difficult to get them to go with it or even listen to you. IndyRC_Racer 06-21-2007, 05:30 PM The Spitfire looked good last race, but I gave it a run for the money with my GRX Velo chassis in qualifying. If not for the spin between 1 & 2 I think I would have won. Just check my lap times (http://pdxracing.sytes.net/indexhome.html). When is the F1 builders race? If it is close to Indy I'd be interested in participating. I've got a Cosworth Chassis that I'd be willing to setup and if push comes to shove I'd be willing to pull the original ThunderBolt prototype out of mothballs! 67-4-fun 06-22-2007, 02:38 AM Yes Brian you and I are pretty close when it comes to speed and laptimes, In the main you would have probably won, after the track cools in evening, my car pushes alot for the first half of the race then twards the end when the tires get heat in them it starts to grip better, still something I have to work on but luckly the mains in the next two events will be ran under the sun maybe!! I know I enjoy the close racing!!! JP IndyRC_Racer 06-22-2007, 10:03 AM Yeah, but as the saying goes you must first finish to finish first! I need to clean the gremlins out of my cars for the next race. I think the Spitfire might have a slight advantage with the battery placement down the middle especially over the bumps at the Velo. I had similar issues with push at the beginning of a run, but just took a bit of tweak out. I bet if you put my can on scales it would be fairly even side to side. mxrich 06-22-2007, 06:04 PM Working on that actually, just never have the time to get it done. But hoping to work out a deal with them to have the Indy guys running Indycars. Typically they prefer to go with people that Advertise with them and since there is no budget or available funds to advertise in their mag, it makes it a little more difficult to get them to go with it or even listen to you. Well, that may change. As in force it on them. Alphacat has connections and may try to get the builders cup at Indy next year. That would be a breakthrough for everyone. He will be racing with us on the 1st and again on the 15th for a meeting at an eatery somewhere in TN to work out plans for this and other things. mxrich 06-22-2007, 06:08 PM The Spitfire looked good last race, but I gave it a run for the money with my GRX Velo chassis in qualifying. As far as I know it will be close to December this year. There may also be a cup race for the doorslammer touring cars also. You know, the cars that have cupholders, floormats, and say "baby on board" in the back window. :) I'll keep everyone posted. mxrich 06-23-2007, 12:46 PM Yeah, but as the saying goes you must first finish to finish first! I almost forgot, it will be roadcourse racing on carpet this year but may move to asphalt next year. We like the indoors to dodge the weather for this race. kato71 06-26-2007, 02:18 PM A thought, HobbyTown is going to be racing outdoor at their parking lot in Greenwood (Just south of Indy) around Sept/Oct. Maybe they can be talked into a F1 Cup race weekend at the end of August to officially open up the track? mxrich 06-27-2007, 10:30 AM How many local racers can you get there. I don't know about a cup race this year but there needs to be one in that area. Actually, Alphacat, you know this guy I'm sure, has mentioned doing one at the next F1 race there since he seems to have good connections. Now that would be a killer event for everyone. Let's hope he can git-er-done! mxrich 07-04-2007, 03:09 PM Looks like the second weekend of December will be the next cup race. Get a carpool or two ready and lets race! More info to follow soon. mxrich 07-06-2007, 07:18 PM BIG NEWS! After round 3 of the F1 AllStar Tour RCIndycar driver Ned Schmaltz has taken the points lead from Hyperdrive with his Spitfire! It's on now. Can't wait for the round in Monteagle, TN, this is going to be great with Hyperdrive, HPI, and MLP only a few points behind Ned. All the other brands are also very close in the series. I love racing! kato71 07-08-2007, 11:36 PM BIG NEWS! Great news for Ned and RC Indycars! When is the next race in TN?!? mxrich 07-11-2007, 07:36 PM The next points race is this Sunday (the 15th) in Monteagle,TN. If you have not heard F1 is looking to be at the Snowbirds this year as a new class. People are already making plans for it now. I'm not sure of the format but you can contact rcthunder@aol.com for info. In other news we are now supporting new clubs in the area here for F1 racing. We give them assistance and other things to get them going and encourage them to come to our series when they can as we will be visiting them at every chance. We have also offered to sponsor the trophies for the BlastF1 series and the SLCF1 racers with top five trophies at each site. Things are looking Mo'fun for F1. Next year will also have some changes for the AllStar Tour. We will not visit as many out of town tracks as we have in the past but a couple will stay as is such as Carbondale,IL which is a great show on it's own and we don't want to miss that. Now's the time to pass the word...Do You F1? kato71 07-25-2007, 02:36 PM The next points race is this Sunday (the 15th) in Monteagle,TN. Is that for September? kato71 07-25-2007, 02:41 PM Hey wanted to say congrats to Jon Perkins who has become the man to beat in the 4300 Indycar Class for the Velodrome. He has just set another new Track Record at the Velodrome: 19/4:13.29 with his Spitfire Chassis! Let's see if he can beat more records at the Velodrome Nationals Aug 11th & 12th, way to go Jon! IndyRC_Racer 07-25-2007, 03:41 PM Way to go Jon Perkins for finally breaking the 19 lap barrier in 4300 Indycar. It gives us all something to shoot for! mxrich 07-25-2007, 07:22 PM Is that for September? That was the July event. The next one is July 28th in Calhoun,Ga and then it finishes in Dalton,Ga the 4th weekend of August. After that is a ton of local special events for F1 until December when we finally get a break. Then start testing again for 2008...whew! Congrats on the Spitfire setting a new record! That is one serious racing car. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
