yokman 09-22-2005, 08:22 AM pennzoil is gone at the end of the year, going back to nascar.chevy is gone at the end of the year also.tomas enge still has the rockstar sponsership so i look for panther to only run him next year.i dont know why panther dosent find a way to keep him?he is finally running good.i go to 4 races a year, but it looks like it is going down to 1 race next year.scott sharp.....boooooo.scott speed has been the fastest in practice so far.looking pretty good for the usa in A1.and ya there first race is this weekend but so is watkins glen so a few drivers will be absant.
j21moss 09-22-2005, 08:54 AM shoot, I'll shoot in between them and go to Chip Ganassi... He'll know what to do
yokman 09-22-2005, 03:23 PM but i just got this from kitch the team manger at panther....
Jeremy:
Thanks for your note. Nothing is set in stone for the 2006 season and right now we're very focused on the last two races of the year. I will tell you that everybody at Panther loves Tomas Scheckter and our plan is to bring him back with us in the #4 car. There are still some issues that are unsettled and you never can tell how things pan out at the end of the day. He's a special talent and a great fit with this team.
I hope all is well.
thanks,
Michael Kitchel
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
mcRacing 09-22-2005, 04:32 PM yo man what is a ball park price for one of the oval cars and do you offer spares
rockin_bob13 09-22-2005, 05:47 PM See rcindycars.com GRX chassis for oval. 77.50 BC
yokman 09-22-2005, 07:28 PM what kinda rear pod are you guys running?
WhirlinGraphics 09-22-2005, 07:56 PM yokman, thanks for the info. Hopefully Panther can come up with the additional money in the off season to keep Tomas on the team? The IndyCar Series has weakened a bit the past month or so but I look for some exciting announcements in the coming months ahead.
According to the Team USA A1GP site Scott Speed is the only announced driver. Scott Sharp will only be a consultant type and possibly used for PR purposes (you have to admit he is great with sponsors). I'm hoping that Jeff Simmons will be given a chance to race as well.
Check out this Toyota ad premonition.

chad
yokman 09-22-2005, 08:38 PM chad- iwas there to see that and i was telling my wife....he's dead, he's dead.they had a crazy wreck the day before in the pro series race.that is a nice ad.
rockin_bob13 09-22-2005, 09:38 PM We designed it to use the Associates front end and rear pod, Tamiya/Duratrax bodies and wings. McAllisters work also. Many choices. I've seen 'em run with Hyperdrive motor pods. Tx BC
WhirlinGraphics 09-23-2005, 04:23 AM Briscoe's crash was one of those deals where even sitting on the couch at home I was nervous in possibly hearing the worst. I was fairly certian I had seen him moving his hands after coming to rest so that made it a little more bearable. Still, he is an extremely lucky man.
Hey, RCIndyCar guys, excluding body and tire items and using a 10L3 'donor' chassis, what else will I need to complete a GRX chassis?
chad
kato71 09-23-2005, 10:11 AM yo man what is a ball park price for one of the oval cars and do you offer spares
You can check the website, prices are about $70 and up...
All of the cars can run on Oval and all the cars but the GRX can run Oval and On-Road, you can run the GRX on-road but with the offset front-end, may not be the fastest.
These are production cars and the parts are still being made so there is plenty of spare parts. Many of the parts used for these cars are the same that Associated created for their cars so unless they stop making those parts you will have a vast amount of spares. The T1, GRX and Cosworth2 are mainly made up of AE parts so unless you break one of the parts that are part of the original kit, you can replace the parts at your LHS that sells AE parts.
There is also two kits that are NIP being sold on eBay (http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-1606754-2202639)http://www.awltovhc.com/image-1606754-2202639 cheaper then what you can find online.
yokman 09-23-2005, 07:28 PM chad-here is a question that is right up you alley.i race at fast times about once a week and i cant go faster than a 25.9.the real fast guys are running in the 23's.how the heck are they doing it???i know i am not the smallest guy,but 3 seconds is alot to pick up.i get 17 sometimes 18 laps in 8 min. though so thats not to slow.i feel that i know the fast way to get around there but dang 23's.
WhirlinGraphics 09-24-2005, 12:42 AM Jeremy, you have a PM.
I haven't worked at FastTimes for about 3 years now. I'm about as far as you can get from asking the right person about a good track time there. I'm 6'3" and about 200 pounds, not the best fit in one of those cramped race karts. I never was with the very fast guys basically because I never got out on the track to practice. You probably already know the key areas are the hairpin turn and the 'corkscrew' up by the glass wall. The hairpin is most important because you are full throttle for the full perimeter of the building after that point. I would also imagine those quick times are turned with a pack of fast guys running together after their tires have sufficiently heated up? Are they still using basically the same karts from a few years ago?
chad
yokman 09-24-2005, 10:18 AM yes they are still using the same carts.hair pin is no problem.i keep the gas to the floor all the way around and use the brake to slow down around that corner.i get through ther real fast and the corkscrew is my favorite place to pass.the tire thing might be right on though.you could fit into them,i am 6'0 240 and fit no problem.maybe it that gravity and friction thing.lol
kato71 09-27-2005, 06:28 PM Hey, RCIndyCar guys, excluding body and tire items and using a 10L3 'donor' chassis, what else will I need to complete a GRX chassis?
chad
Front and rear wing; you can pickup front wings @ the Website, you can also pickup wing mounts and then you need a rear wing, commonly used rear wing is the Kimbrough wing cut down, then get some wing buttons...
WhirlinGraphics 09-28-2005, 09:13 PM Thanks for the info, kato71.
Am I right in thinking that Parma no longer produces and IRL body?
chad
j21moss 09-28-2005, 10:11 PM chad..nope..on parma..but you can go get on from durtrax
WhirlinGraphics 09-29-2005, 02:12 AM Thanks MossMan but in that case I'll stick with the McAllister. I like my body to have a driver figure in the cockpit but not if it is the size of a mutant alien! :freak:
chad
kato71 09-29-2005, 07:39 AM Parma will make the body again, I believe it was going to cost $30/body and I had to order 100 or 250 of them, can't quite remember it was several years ago...
Retail I believe was originally $19.95 or something close to that, so obviously inflation has to be calculated into making older bodies.
j21moss 09-29-2005, 08:55 AM I think the Mccallister body is too wide... they fit pan cars.. stick with either the Durtrax or the tamiya bodies... they will be kewl if Parma does remake the IRL body
rockin_bob13 09-29-2005, 05:55 PM Mossman, you got a Indy ready for Stout? I got mine all set.
WhirlinGraphics 09-29-2005, 07:09 PM McAllister body is the most scale looking. Duratrax is not anywhere near scale, sidepods too small, helmet way too big! I can't remember how the Parma body looked, anybody have a photo they can post or send?
chad
j21moss 09-29-2005, 07:14 PM rocket BOB!!! The Tamiya is always ready!!!!! for any track!!! can't wait!!! go ahead Chad and get that boat anchor body.. just be nice and move high when we come by you in a freight train.. besides it racing not concourse!!!
WhirlinGraphics 09-29-2005, 07:18 PM Oh, I forgot Moss, you would still be running a 12" wide NASCAR body if you could. :p
chad
j21moss 09-29-2005, 07:19 PM nope got rid of the boat anchor car.. only in figure eight!!!
kato71 09-30-2005, 01:14 AM McAllister body is the most scale looking. Duratrax is not anywhere near scale, sidepods too small, helmet way too big! I can't remember how the Parma body looked, anybody have a photo they can post or send?

http://www.rcindycars.com/IMAGES/spitfire7.jpg
WhirlinGraphics 09-30-2005, 02:03 AM Oh, I was under the impression they did an IRL body. That looks like a CART Lola. Still like the McAllister the best.
chad
ernneal 10-31-2005, 10:34 AM Hey.. what servo fits the new servo mount you guys have? I picked one up in the store thinking it would fit a servo I already have.. but it doesn't.
Thanks,
Ernie
(I may get this thing done.. okay started.. one of these days)
rockin_bob13 10-31-2005, 09:44 PM It was designed for the JR DS3421 servo. In stock at HT Indy. $84.99. When you gonna bring that out to Stout Field? BC
dwcnascar 10-31-2005, 10:14 PM I bought a futaba micro and with just a fine touch from the dremel it slid in nice and snug. Great job on all the goods Tim.
kato71 11-01-2005, 10:41 AM Hey no problem, glad that I'm producing/selling things that you racers enjoy using. I have some more parts in the pipeline that hopefully will be coming out by the end of this year.
Yes the Servo mount was designed around the JR Micro Servo, this part was actually designed by Roger, one of the racers out of Cincy, so I have to give credit where credit is deserved. But I also have gotten a futaba to work as well with a little shaving of the metal, the screw holes aren't perfect but you can make it work. I'm not sure about HiTech Servo's though and if they work...
ernneal 11-01-2005, 11:59 AM As soon as I get all the parts in the darn thing. If nothing else I think I'll at least try to bring my TC or something for the next race. Thanks for the setup help with the TC, Bob. Its much more enjoyable to drive now! haha
Anybody know if a Futaba S9650 Servo would squeeze in that mount? I just like to be difficult.
kato71 11-02-2005, 10:53 AM I believe that is the one that I have, would have to go back and look at my equipment... But again with the Futaba would will need to open up the opening a little bit to get it to fit in there.
rockin_bob13 11-02-2005, 10:59 AM I have one, the same as the 9650, but analog, there would be no screw holes left in the mount to fit well. Needs to be one slightly smaller.
Did you beat the "Rock"? BC
ernneal 11-02-2005, 11:14 PM yip.. the Rock swears that I'm running a 19t arm in my stock can.. haha I guess he can't understand someone beating him fair and square.
I finally got some new bearings to put in the slug though and some other parts that you recommended so it might get even uglier for him. haha
Anyways, I guess I'll just go for the JR servo so you'll probably be seeing me soon. I ordered a new pod for the Indycar today. I guess now I just need a few odds and ends and I'll have everything to get it going. (Body, center shock, speed control, etc..) geez, I need more cars!
rockin_bob13 11-03-2005, 09:26 PM Good job Ern. Keep up the good work. BC
rockin_bob13 11-07-2005, 09:33 PM Hey Ern, thinking about coming down on Friday. What is the track called and where is it? BC
ernneal 11-10-2005, 09:59 AM Cool Bob! I hope you can make it down. I'm thinking about heading to Stout field Sat. if I have a car left. haha The track is at the fairgrounds and it is pretty much the only building there. You'll see cars parked all around it. You should be able to look it up on Yahoo maps or something. You should try to get there around 5:30 or so to make sure you get a table.

Mach10_shooter 11-10-2005, 12:15 PM ernneal, sent you a PM.
ernneal 11-10-2005, 03:22 PM Hey Chris.. I emailed you back. I was a little too long winded for a PM. oops!
Hey Bob.. I picked up the Servo and should be set other than a descent body for the Indy car. Hopefully I can get to screwing it all together this weekend.
j21moss 11-10-2005, 10:55 PM Sweet eddie...bring the Indycar..more the merrier!
ernneal 11-15-2005, 10:43 PM Is the HPI body worth a hoot at the Velodrome? There is a seller on ePay that has quite a few of em. I snagged a few just in case but thought I'd give the rest of you a heads up.

j21moss 11-16-2005, 08:26 AM since they are hard to come by it wouldn't hurt to get a couple,, Thanks for the info
kato71 11-17-2005, 12:15 AM They are not that bad, I had run one for awhile and was able to get 17 laps, might be able to get 18 laps with it now. Or you can go with the Duratrax body, those are still available and have some clean lines and currently is the body of the top drivers that are getting 18 laps at the Velo.
ernneal 11-17-2005, 12:24 PM Thanks for the Info kato71. I snagged a couple and hopefully I'll be able to make it over to the Velodrome next year. I've only had the chassis for 6 months and just now started working on it. I can't get myself to put the Duratrax body on there. It looks too much like an IRL car. I work for the other guys so if I can't find a Lola body that'll fit an F1 body will have to do. :)
j21moss 11-17-2005, 12:52 PM YO.. you can still get in Tamiya-Rahal-Hogan 94T Lola...<GASP!!> Cart body.. I beleive HT can still get them.. pricey but comes with wings and decals
yokman 11-17-2005, 05:29 PM Irl Rules.
kato71 11-18-2005, 09:31 AM Yeah HT-Indy, Bob is selling those through the store, he bought a whole bunch from a guy in Japan. What you can do is have your Bosses give you the technical drawings for the new chasssis that you have coming out and we can get a mold done of it, although its not quite Velodrome Aerodynamic...
Well Ernie you need to get that car together
ernneal 11-18-2005, 12:28 PM Bob told me the other day he had one left. So, I'll have to get it for you guys to dodge at the Velodrome. ;) I just got the car done last night other than a body mounted and some tires but who knows when I'll be able to come play at Stout field especially with the change to Friday nights.
I've been on em here about getting some RC cars again. I have an old Tamiya Rahal car sitting in my office for a reminder. ;) We do have some approximately 1/8 scale models of the Panoz car. They look fast to me, but I'm not sure the wood would hold up to me trying to drive it at the velodrome. lol
The IRL started out as a cool series. All ovals, american teams, drivers, tracks.. but now it is turning into the old CART. I guess this isn't a good place for racing politics though. hehe What can I say, I'm just a racing fan and I like anything that goes fast and makes lots of noise.
....The one that rules right now is NASCAR.
k7king 11-18-2005, 12:37 PM Both Series seem to have there place. Only prob I see is nobody knows the drivers. Poll anyone and they can rattle off 5 Nascar drivers easily. Is it better racing. Nope. Just better marketing. Everyone wishes they would go back together and build one series. Half the races oval, half road courses. Tony george runs the 500 only. Then run alot of the races during the winter on saturday nights.Nothing to compete against then.....Start the races in Novenber finish them in May at the 500 tell me I'm wrong.
