hankster 07-18-2004, 10:25 AM New race... new thread!
FishRC 07-20-2004, 11:14 AM The only bad part is having to wait so long for the next race... Aug. 28 is soooooooo far away.
Joe Pillars 07-20-2004, 03:30 PM I just got our tickets to come back home so Ryan Cavalieri and I will be there for sure. I have heard allot of other people will be coming. It will be a great race.
KevinDog 07-20-2004, 11:31 PM Joe. Do you remember what "ruts" are????
Joe Pillars 07-21-2004, 10:59 AM Yeah, I cant wait!
Littleman11 07-21-2004, 08:27 PM I'll be making it to this race also. Hope to see all of you out there!
Brayden
snickers 07-23-2004, 03:23 AM what's-a-matter brayden? couldn't hang with the big boys at FTMS?
tommckay 07-23-2004, 08:27 AM Ouch. That was harsh. Not all the "big Boys" are at FTMS, And with Pillars & Cavalieri appearing at MARS Vicksburg, I would say that is where the "big boys" will be. Besides, Brayden can do both next month since the dates are not conflicting. We could too, if we had money...... (well me.) Wouldn't be suprised if Horne showed up to race with them, but probably not, he wouldn't want people calling him a hypocrite.
dakotah97 07-23-2004, 09:34 AM I talked to Brayden at the Jackson race. He lives in Vicksburg!!! :)
perfectstorm 07-23-2004, 02:13 PM I noticed that Brayden took 1st. in 4wd at the last FTMS race. Kinda sounds like "hanging with the big boys" to me.
EAGLECLAW 07-23-2004, 10:10 PM Could anyone tell me,What happened to Jason Jucubsyk? I have been out of the rc world since '99 and the last time I Went to a Mars Race He was one of the best! I for everyone wondering am not at all any good! I Just enjoy watching the good racers that go to the big races! When I Was going to the races, The good guys were Jason and Joe Pillars, Chuck Lonergan,Adam Drake,Kevin Nigg, There was a Kid from Schoolcraft that was pretty good. His name was Tony something a big red hair kid.
Like I said I am a fan and just curious to where are they now???
KevinDog 07-26-2004, 10:21 AM Jason has been running some gas truck. He's been to a couple races at VORR this year -still fast as ever. It wouldn't surprise me if he showed up at the MARS race just for fun (If he still has any electric stuff). Chuck has been at most our races, I don't expect he'll miss any of the rest this year. The "tony" from Schoolcraft sounds like Tony Galloup. We haven't seen him this year at all. I don't know what happened to him. Drake is still racing, but we haven't seen him. I think he's running in another series. For the few folks that have "disappeared" they've been replaced with many others. We're getting 40-60 racers at every event. The next two should be even bigger with MARS around the corner. Get out there and check it out. We are doing a night race this Saturday. Heats start at 5pm.
Joe Pillars 07-26-2004, 12:27 PM Hi EAGLECLAW,
Jason Jakubczyk has taken some time off of racing lately but will be at the Vicksburg MARS race.
I moved to California and am living with Adam Drake. Adam is working in the R&D department at Team Losi and is racing allot. I am working for Team Orion in the R&D and customer service department and also have been racing nonstop.
If you have a chance to stop out to the Vicksburg MARS race it should be really good racing.
KevinDog 07-26-2004, 01:11 PM Joe,
Bring your "domestic partner" with you. :)
stunnergraphics 07-26-2004, 01:22 PM Myself, and Al would've definately come to this race, if it wasn't for a little conflict with my WEDDING.
I tried to re-schedule, but the for some reason, my girl wasnt down for all of that, lol.
-Brian
Joe Pillars 07-26-2004, 03:03 PM Domestic Partner?
KevinDog 07-26-2004, 05:48 PM Merriam-Webster Definition: either one of an unmarried heterosexual or homosexual cohabiting couple especially when considered as to eligibility for spousal benefits
Littleman11 07-26-2004, 06:38 PM I think everyone has already stated the reasons I am coming to Vicksburg to race. Thanks guys.
As for which races have the "BIG BOYS" I'll have to see after I race at Vicksburg. I'm pretty sure Joe and Ryan are going to be the "BIG BOYS" at Vicksburg.

Joe Pillars 07-27-2004, 11:27 AM Kevein-Ha Ha, I know. I dont want to bring one or two home, because then I couldnt have any fun when I get back.
Brayden-Whats up? How are things going? Are you racing allot?
groundhogg 07-27-2004, 07:21 PM Well, Joe, this would be the MARS race to attend.
The VOOR boys have practically guaranteed a flawless racing experience at MARS.
Littleman11 07-27-2004, 09:15 PM Joe,
Things have been going pretty good. I've been racing as much as I can around here.
BTW, if you and Ryan need pit space we will have plenty of it.
See you at Vicksburg.
Kevin,
Have you guys made a pit lane for gas truck at the track yet? I'm planning on racing gas again this weekend. See you then.

KevinDog 07-27-2004, 10:07 PM Nope, no gas lane as of right now, but we'll look at that tomorrow night. We plan on going to the track to fine-tune and play about 6pm if you wanna come out.
Jesse, we all know that nothing is guaranteed, but I do know we will be allowed to camp at the track for MARS. As for things that will go wrong.... I expect the track to rut horribly, it might rain, and we might lose power and run out of toilet paper. If there weren't little disasters it would not be the mars experience. :)
Joe Pillars 07-28-2004, 03:13 PM Brayden-Yeah, We will need a little help with a place to pit so if you can help out with that it would be awesome. I talked to Jason and he said he is going to race at Vicksburg for sure. We are all going to run Modified Buggy and Modified Truck. Ryan and I might bring our 4wd also.
One of the main reasons why I came back for this race again is because how awesome the VORR crew is with track preparation and smooth race schedule.
What tires should I plan on bringing? I have a good idea but just want to be sure.
KevinDog 07-28-2004, 03:32 PM Joe, I'll be running mod buggy too. I've only run proline steps on my buggy at our track and they seem fine to me.
Littleman11 07-28-2004, 07:41 PM Kevin,
Couldn't make it out tonight.
Joe,
No, problem on the pitting. I'll be running mod buggy for sure, and then either 4wd or mod truck, or all 3. Speaking of mod truck, I still need to get the new truck. You might wanna bring some ifmar pins or bigshots if the track drys up.

groundhogg 07-28-2004, 09:53 PM Just ribbing ya, Kevin.
KevinDog 07-29-2004, 10:48 AM yeah, yeah - I know. Yer one of the good guys.
There will be a pit lane area for Saturday.
hankster 07-30-2004, 04:30 PM The latest points standings are now on-line on the MARS web site - www.marsracing.com (http://www.marsracing.com)
Top 5 listed on the right side of the page. Full points available in the Downloads area.
Joe Pillars 08-05-2004, 01:57 PM What has the turnouts been for the first three races? How many people do you expect at VORR? I just want to get a good idea if their will be enough time for Ryan and I to run 4wd.
josh short 08-05-2004, 03:22 PM there'll be enough time
hankster 08-05-2004, 03:58 PM Joe, Look at the points standings at http://www.marsracing.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=2
That will tell you how many have raced in each class at each race.
Littleman11 08-05-2004, 07:47 PM Joe,
Munson has been running 4 classes at MARS. I have not been to a MARS race yet though, but I bet there will be plenty of time. I am definately going to try and run all 3.

KevinDog 08-05-2004, 10:33 PM Note: Munson has a pitman to help him. I don't think he could run 4 classes without him.
There have been (I believe) 18 heats at each of the first three. I am running stock truck (A, heat 10), Mod buggy (A, heat 12) and Mod Truck (A, Heat 16). It's been really hectic for me. I'm considering dropping to two classes for our VORR race since I'll be doing some announcing too. I'm looking for some volunteers to announce a few races (anyone?). I do expect there will be a higher turnout than the 145-ish we've been getting. I really like the shorter day, I just picked the wrong year to run three classes.
Joe Pillars 08-06-2004, 11:56 AM Okay thanks. I have a good feeling that Vicksburg will have the most entries for the series. I remember back in the day when they had like over 300. Those were the days.
lollie302 08-07-2004, 09:38 PM Kevin if you need any help with maintenance or repairs on your truck or buggy let me know.
RCGURU911 08-07-2004, 10:41 PM WHY WHOS GOING TO HELP HIM ME LOL THATS FUNNY LONNIE
KevinDog 08-09-2004, 08:08 AM hmmm... I dunno about that. Can you send a resume?
Joe Pillars 08-09-2004, 02:52 PM Its been awhile since I have been to one of these races so I have like 2 questions. What time does practice open on friday? And what time does racing start on Saturday.
tommckay 08-09-2004, 02:59 PM Noon on Friday at the latest for open Practice and racing starts at 9am Sat.
Joe Pillars 08-12-2004, 04:24 PM Just curious. What brand of motors and batteries are most popular that are used at the MARS series races.
1armed1 08-12-2004, 11:56 PM Joe, A lot of the guys use Fantom batteries and motors. You will also see alot of powerpush batteries.
