Well, u think "house" carpet would do it? too much of a strain, it's that long "cushiony" type of carpet

Or, maybe it's the gearing? I put in that Trinity Monster Horsepower stock motor with the stock XXX-S II gearing in it. You think that would cause the ESC and wires from it to get hot pretty fast?

EDIT: I just ran it alittle bit on a hard kitchen floor and it still got hot decently fast, but not as hot as it was on the carpet

Slow speeds in the house will do it. Save the ride till you can get it on the track. Since Mike is closed on Sunday, you should think about making the trip to The Raceway in Beaver. Not sure if Ray and Danny are going to The Gate, but there will be plenty of racers there to show you what your Losi can do. A better set up car is a dream to drive...

What spur gear is in your car?
What diameter are your tires?
My XXX-S is geared at 28 pinion with a 128 spur with a Monster and 58mm tires.
Another thing, are you soldering your connections,or do you use some kind of plugs?
Plugs(other than Deans)have a surprising amount of resistance.(resistance=heat)

all gearing is stock and i have deans connectors for my battery connection. Should i change the connectors from my motor, to my esc to deans? I also have the stocj rubber tires also, im getting foams tommoro (any suggestion on foams?)

Actually , you should direct solder the speed control wires to the motor,if not you can burn it up from the heat.As far as tires go on my xxxs i run plaid on the front and purples on the back.I dont know what mikes track carpet is like but that is the setup i use on ozite. If you get time sunday you should try to make it to beaver , there will be some of us there that can help you setup your car.

For anyone interested in a sneak-peak at the new store/track, we will be having a work-party on Wednesday afternoon/evening to do some painting, etc. I will be there shortly after lunch and plan on working until about 7 or 8PM. We are moving along ahead of schedule already so we hope to keep on that schedule.

Directions:
I-79 - Kirwin Heights Exit - head towards Bridgeville, 1st shopping center (Great Southern) on the right. Located dead center in line with Wendy's.

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

Maxx, if you tear down your pre-assembled batts to re-configure into side by side, make sure there is shrink wrap on the cells. Some stick packs have bare cells inside.

MaxxMadness

Well, they are already assembled side-by-side (IIIIII) but the shrink wrap doesn't allow for them to sit in their slots. Im just gonna throw some servo tape in their for now, and direct solder (Motor-ESC) to limit the heating. Thanks alot for the help guys.

How does the xxx-s 2 run? I was thinking about picking one up. They are selling a lot of them at ssch.

This is probably off-topic, but im looking into a new charger since im getting into touring cars and more expensive batteries. Im looking for something in the $100-250 price range and something that will discharge with an adjustable cut-off voltage. Right now im looking at the Triton, is it any good?

OR

Right now I have that Duratrax Intellipeak pulse charger. Would I be better off just getting the novak smart tray to discharge my batteries?

The main reason i need these things is because the intellipeak cuts off at 2.5v, way too low for a GP3300 pack (should be 5.4v, or .9v per cell right)

Which way should i go? Thanks alot!

Nice, politicaly correct use of the term"veterans".

Maxx-You will probably end with a discharge tray anyway to equalize your cells.
I use discharge bulbs and then a tray to equalize the pack.I just picked up a smart tray from Novak, but haven't tried it yet.
The discharge rate built into most chargers usually isn't high enough,my Pulsar is only 10a.You want at least 20a discharge rate.
Take care of those cells, and they will take care of you!

Does the Smart Tray have a high enough discharge rate?

No.
Get a bulb discharger set up-Deans is nice.

MaxxMadness

So, should i discharge them alittle with one of those bulb ones, then put it on the tray? so finish it off?

Eric,
Take a look at the 16x9 charger we have in the shop... (a few racers use this one) - It does everything you are asking about. Also, the Pulsar chargers are excellent. We will take care of you since you make every race!... and since you were on the front page of the paper tuning your Mini-T.
Happy New Year everyone!

Eric, you will discharge your batteries all the way before you put your battery in the tray...
If you want to learn more from the ''veterans'' you should think about racing on Sunday. RaycerD and the boys should be racing.
I have a like new Integy 16x9 charger I could put you in cheap...

DingBat or what ever you call yourself. I think you need to be taken out to the wood shed and given a lesson in respect. Snookie has forgotten more about RC racing than you will ever know ! I wish I could be at Arron's this week to see if you have enough b &^ls to show up and tell that to Snookies face. To the rest of you racers have a Happy Holiday.

bump for slaz to read LOL... start at post 248
