View Full Version : ***The R/C Race Place, Springfield MO*** Night Rogue 08-30-2004, 06:15 AM Congrats. Jason  tfrahm 08-30-2004, 08:39 AM Good run, Jason! I sure made a tactical error on the start of the B-main, and it cost me big time... I decided I'd tuck in behind Larry on the start and not risk "racing" him in the first turn... What I didn't realize (I guess I need to get down there more often) is that with the second row of the grid so close to the front row (I was outside the front row), that would put me in "harm's way"... When I tucked in behind Larry, the second row was closing so fast that they both got into me, spinning me to the inside on the "ice"... I checked the lap times, and I lost over 3 seconds to Larry on that incident, and was in last place after the first lap. At the final buzzer, Larry was only a little over 2 seconds ahead of me! (He crossed the line at about 3:59, I crossed at 4:01, so he got the 'extra' lap -- so close, so far away)... The B-main was a really good race, though, with all of us actually physically on the same lap for the full 4 minutes (1st-4th was 50/4:04.14-49/4:03.68)... I love close racing like that! At least I did get another 50 (in qualifying), and I might have had another in the B-main with a different strategy on the start, so I'm getting there on speed... (ran some 4.6's and 4.7's, but not enough of them! -- I need track time!) Paul got me in Legends, but MAN! we had fun! His 53/5:00.53 beat my 53/5:00.68..! (I did say I love close racing, right?)... We clearly have Phil "hooked" (that old "rent-a-ride" trick worked like a charm -- gotta find a new sucker now that Phil has bought his own car)...! Thanks to everyone for a great night of racing! Bob Cole 08-30-2004, 09:04 AM Look forward to seeing you and your racing buddies again Tom. The racing is very close and no shame to be in the B main. The qualifing was very close again. You just don't know what main you are going to be in till after the third heat most of the time. See if you can get a few more hooked on it, heck who knows you might get a oval track started up there. paulwest 08-30-2004, 10:13 AM Good run Jason Hope it last as long as mine did.Tom thanks for coming down legends are a lot of fun hop to see you back soon. Bob Cole 09-02-2004, 04:37 PM Good one Mark. :jest: Night Rogue 09-02-2004, 06:08 PM I'm thinking about selling the little bit of oval stuff I have, including the car. Since I'm not using it. Matt Bayless 09-02-2004, 09:14 PM In 19 turn is 0 degree all were going to run ? If so when will open timeing 19 return? MarkNoel 09-03-2004, 11:45 AM So Mark did anyone go any faster then you did Saturday night? Timmy actually had several good runs going. at one point he was on pace to break the record by a full lap in qualifying! he was doing even better in the main, on pace to run a 28 for a while (record is 26). but he made a few mistakes and got bumped around a little and his pace slowed. someone will break the TC record soon enough. :p JohnDarnell 09-03-2004, 02:58 PM I was at the track Tuesday and didn't see your name on the board. Hmmmm? It will be 27 for TC soon enough. Is this an oval forum or a Race Place forum? jake86 09-03-2004, 04:32 PM I was at the track Tuesday and didn't see your name on the board. Hmmmm? Looks like alot of people having a great time. I would like to get started dirt racing. could someone point me in the right direction of what equipment to buy, and is there special radio equipment? Thanks, Jerry There are a series of questions to answer first... Are you attracted to "Monster Trucks" or "Race Trucks" for example... Most new racers like the noize and raw speed of Nitro power, but Nitro can also become very frustrating when the motor gets out of tune... Electric power really works well for most new racers, but that gets into buying expensive batteries and a quality charger... Radios are the same for all -- get a good one up front (MX-3, for example)... I tend to be a LOSI guy -- For a race truck, I'd recommend a LOSI "Ready to Run" -- either the XXXT RTR or the XXX-NT RTR. They both come with a good digital AM radio... If you are into Monster Trucks, TRAXXAS is the traditional king, but LOSI, Associated, and even Tamiya have quality rigs... JohnDarnell 09-07-2004, 07:27 PM If you are interested in racing dirt, just stop by and ask anyone out there your questions. 1/8 buggy is the class to run there. Ask for Sean or Matthew, they run the place. A good RTR 1/8 buggy is about $400 for everything you need. Night Rogue 09-07-2004, 07:43 PM Hey there night rogue, Im interested in getting started with r/c, is your oval stuff for dirt? No, it's for on-road oval... Night Rogue 09-07-2004, 07:47 PM Ok. all I need now are batteries. Any suggestions? vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
