Thanks Davz,
That's a start. There are some colors missing in your post. Can anyone chime in with the rubber content differences between the families? What are the family names?

Hi Zippy. Missed you in MP yesterday.

I've switched over to BSR's exclusively this year. They worked great for me yesterday - once I found "my" combo.
I heard Scott, thats great, you finally wised up (lol). I couldn't race this past weekend. I still have some big projects to wrap up before I start racing regularly. Hit me up at the track on the 27th.

Can't help with rubber content but pinks and purples have the highest, the exotics(black, gray, white) have a lesser amount and greens and blues have the least. Are you lookig for tires for a specific type of track?

Can someone tell me where the team purple fits with the furples and the double purples?

I believe the team purple is in the middle of the two.

It does fall right between Double and regular purple.

Did I miss something?
Did'nt BSR used to have a straight PEARL tire?
Not the Pearl/white. Just Pearl.
I have tires with white dots and a "P" which I think are Pearl.
I have others with 2 white dots and one of them has a "P" which I think are the Pearl/white.

I don't see a straight Pearl on the website anymore either.
What has happened here?

Pearl White and Pearl White/White are 2 different tires.

Pearl White and Pearl White/White are 2 different tires.

I understand that.
What I mean is - I thought there was a tire that was just called Pearl. It had a white dot with a "P" on it.
Looking at the website, it's not there anymore. Just a Pearl White. No Pearl. No Pearl White/White.

I have tires that have 2 white dots on them. One of the dots has a "P" on it. Is that a Pearl White? Or a Pearl White/White?

If it has two white dots and one of them has the P then it is a Pear White/White. If it just has one white dot with a P in the middle of it is a pearl white.

The tire has always technically been called a "pearl white", everyone just says pearl for short.

Glad I found this forum. I agree, please update the site and add more information for us. I just follow what the fast guys are doing for tire selection, mainly Klyber, but I like to understand the technical stuff too. Why are there two tires with the same duro ratings and what is different. I'm guessing rubber content, but just guessing. It would be nice for the site to have a printer friendly page to print out for my note taking. Add to that more information on each tire selection and a definition on durometers and how they work. I'm guessing that durometers are expensive so is there a racer friendly way to "feel" a tire's hardness or look for rubber? What does the rubber content do for the car. Longer lasting? Less traction? Better Traction? Is the new tire washing idea good or indifferent? What is the preferred method for applying traction compound, early or just before the race? I'd like BSR (the greatest tire in racing) to help us all out with a FAQ page that gives their opinions and answers to these and probably many more questions like 'em. Now hopefully I'm not the only dunderhead that doesn't know this stuff. Inquiring minds want to know...

Tire Durometers http://www.longacreracing.com/catalog/item.asp?id=236&catid=9 are not real expensive but are a little tricky to use properly on foam tires. I only use mine on my cap tires and rely on tire markings for foams, I use a silver Sharpie marker to mark the compound inside the rims ( the little Dot stickers come off sometimes when cleaning )

I'll talk to John about some website updates, I might be able to help him out in that area. Trust me running two small businesses is no easy task, I'd rather have awesome tires than an awesome website anyday.

If you have a question about tires the best place is to ask right here. Most all the team guys are here and are more than willing to help but we can't read minds!!

We're getting real close to liftoff for FLA. t minus 20hrs or so.

I agree Danny B. Better the tire than the website. And you're right, everyone on Hobbytalk is great. All of that can wait for a time when there is time. But there is one suggestion that I'd really like to have you explore. The tire dots. Could they be printed with a symbol as well, like PW for Pearl White or PRP for Purple. I happen to be on the color blind side, and doggoned if I can't pick out the difference from grey white to silver white or pink and grey or purple and grey, etc. Now I can pick out the black and white :p . Yea, I know that I need to mark them myself, and I do for the most part, but I miss some of them or it comes off and I'm scratching my head trying to figure it out. Small detail for a small group of people, but can I be the only one?

Really, thanks for all the hard work that small companies do for our hobby.

Clear as mud!

Fineous - you are not alone, I'm slightly colorblind too! It surely sucks when you put a gray on the RF when you think it's purple!
