These are the race dates that we have so far from the tracks that are holding Qualifying Races and giving their racers a chance to be invited to the East Coast Paved Oval Invitational.

Seaford, DE (June 26th)

Cooper’s RC Race Center (July 24th)

Easley, SC (August 14th)

Echeconnee, GA (August 8th)

The Grove, SC (August 21st)

MSA, TN (September 18th) this is a special circumstance date and the only one that will be held after September 4th)

Qualifying in the A main of any of these races will guarantee their racer an invitation as long as that class is offered in the Ease Coast Race. We will update these race dates as we receive them.

NOTE: A question I keep getting asked is “Can I race at this event if I do not have a Qualifying race at my track?”

First of all, we would rather see your track hold a Qualifier so that more of their racers can get a chance to be invited and also let your track get a Special Race out of this program. But, if that is not going to be the case then YES you can still race in the Non-Invitational portion of this event on September 24th and 25th AND if you TQ your class and your time would have been good enough to get you in the A Main of the Invitational, you will be given the choice to transfer or “Bump Up” to that race.

What are the classes for the Easley Race?
We will be offering all of our regularly scheduled classes on the 14 as it is also a special event day. (I've been announcing it in the driver's meeting, have you been there?)

Legends, 4-cell Spec, 4-cell super Spec, 6-cell spec, nitro 4wd oval, 6-cell touring, and maybe nitro legends.

Lin, I've got a question....or two. If you qualify for the Open in one class, can you run more than one class? Is there a set group of classes that are going to be offered or can you qualify in anything? Meaning, if my track runs a "in reverse with two somersaults over the fence class" are you automatically going to offer that class or do you have a class line up that each track needs to offer? And if I remember correctly, you are going to offer "regular racing" and the Invitational, so is this a multi day event? And last but not least, what date are you looking at for the Invitational?

Steve, I hope that doesn't become a problem because we will run a open mod class. It is a good question that we will have a answer for soon.

Lisa, I will try to answer your questions. Most tracks that are holding a quilifing race have the classes that are going to be ran in the Invitational on September 25-26 th. The classes for the Invitational are 4cell spec, 4cell stock, 6cell spec(just added),19turn mod, open mod and Nitro. If a track holding a quilifing race has these classes the A main quilifiers will recive an invation to the East Coast Invatitional Race for that class. Thoes racers will compete in qualifing races with the other A main racers that quilified for that class. They will be competing for the 1st - 9th starting spots in the triple A mains to be ran on the 26th. The tenth(10) starting spot will go to the TQ of the non invitational races for that class if his time is faster than the 10th fast racer in the Invitational or that racer can run the A main for non-invitational racers. So to answer your question you can still attend the Invitational if your track does not hold a quilifier and run and have a chance to race in the Invitational. You may run more than one class weather you have qualified for it or not. The race can be incorporated in to any race program that a track runs. Just hold it and send us the results so the racers can be invitated to the race. At this time we are still considering other classe for the program in the non invitational races.

OK Old Fumble Fingers struck again. The date listed above for the MSA Race should have read “BMS”. Sorry Dale, thanks for pointing that out to me AND thanks for coming aboard with the qualifiers!!

Seaford, DE (June 26th)

Cooper’s RC Race Center (July 24th)

Echeconnee,GA (August 8th)

Easley, SC (August 14th)

The Grove, SC (August 21st)

BMS, TN (September 18th) this is a special circumstance date and the only one that will be held after September 4th)

Adding to Larry's post:

We will also offer the Nitro Class.

Steve, as Gary said we will offer Open Modified at the Invitational, Willow Mills is holding a qualifier but I do not have a date yet, they will probably have a mod class. If you can't find one, Coopers will be holding their qualifier on the 24th of July and will have a mod class for sure. (Give you a chance to warm up for the VA State Race on the 31st too LOL)

Lisa, not to restate what Larry said but yes you can qualify in more than one class but it has to be one that will be run at the Invitational. For instance you can not qualify in "in reverse with two somersaults over the fence class" and transfer it over to Spec.

However, if you qualify in Spec you can also run any other class you want in the non-invitational portion of the event and try to bump up to the invitational like larry said.

This brings up a point, if you want to qualify at more than one track, that is fine too. One of the major points of this deal is to get more racers our racing.

Sorry Lisa, the date for the East Coast Paved Oval Invitational is September 25th and 26th and the non-invitational portion of the race will be run along with the Invitational portion. ALL of the qualifying will be run on the 25th and the transfers or Bump Ups will be put in the computer that night.

The Main for the non-invitational race and the tripple A's for the Invitational will be run on the 26th

I have to say one thing about the Bump Ups so there will be no misunderstanding. If you TQ your class in the non-invitational part and want to Bump Up to the Invitational, you give up your TQ spot, you cannot run BOTH!

Can you post any information about the track we'll be racing on?

McLin
07-06-2004, 12:47 AM
If you go to the ARCOR site, there are a few pictures of the track. Pull the “Track” drop down window down and click on Cooper’s pictures.

The track is asphalt and has a 321 foot center line and racers put from 312 to 317 in the dyno program and it has 21 ft. wide lanes. (It was designed with Quarter Scales in mind) and it is laid out in a “D” shape. The infield is also paved and has a temporary TC Road course laid out in it. I say that so you will know that if you have a “UUUPS” and run off the track you will still be on asphalt and not go into grass. The track is well lit and we like to run the mains at night if we can.

The drives stand is about eight feet above ground level and about 12 to 14 feet above the track level so the view of the track, even with 10 drivers is still very good.

We use the AMB lap counter but it does not support personal transponders yet.

The pit area for those of us without a pit trailer is covered and can handle over 100 racers comfortably with lots of electrical outlets and well lighted.

The parking area can handle a lot of pit trailers so don’t be afraid to bring yours. We have limited electric hookups so generators are preferred.

We also have a fully operational Snack Bar that will be open during the racing.

We have a small hobby shop at the track and Norris Cooper operates a larger one in the main building that houses the indoor dirt oval track. (Rest Rooms are also in the main building.)

If I have left off anything, please ask.

I just updated the schedule of dates for the tracks that will be running the qualifying races for the Invitational. All tracks are posted now. As soon as the results come in from the races that have already been run, I will post the results.

Thanks Mclin. What type of tires are used there?

McLin
07-09-2004, 10:37 AM
It's a capped tire track of course and what seems to work well are a Green L LF, a Green L (narrow) RR, A Pink L Net RF and a Pink R Net RR. These are BSR's.

If anyone needs tires, we have a full line of John's BSR's in the hobby shop with 10% off of a full set.

McLin
07-09-2004, 10:39 AM
I should have added, that is for any open tire class. We also have the capped Spec tires in stock.

Two more qualifiers are coming up this month for the East Coast Paved Oval Invitational:

July 24th – Rush and Son (Little Talladega) in Henderson, TN This is Tony Rush’s new track and all I have been hearing are rave reviews from the ones that have been lucky enough to run there. It's a true scaled down version of Talladega Speedway.

July 24th also – Coopers RC Race Center, in Callands, VA Cooper’s is not a true scale but it is real close to Richmond International Raceway.

Once again, all A main qualifiers will receive personal invitations to attend the East Coast race so be sure to “get qualified”.

Another qualifier for the East Coast Paved Oval Invitational is coming up this weekend at Easley, SC. If you are in that area, this is a good time to become qualified.

Sorry I missed posting the races last weekend but I had server problems and could not get on line.

The Invitations for those that have become qualified will be going out within a few days. There are a TON of racers that have already qualified and it looks like it is going to be a great race on the 25th and 26th of September.

Don't forget about the Trax 70 Qualifier on the 28th!

Can you say MOD?

McLin
08-14-2004, 03:32 PM
Got that right! As it looks right now at least two of the "Mafia" will try to be there. The way my schedule has went this summer, this may be one of the very few qualifiers that I will be able to get to. (that is going to have to change next year!)

McLin
08-14-2004, 08:38 PM
UUUH Glad you ask! LOL This is realy not a series (this year). These qualifiers are being held by 10 different tracks to give their racers a chance to be invited to the Invitational.

The East Coast Paved Oval Invitational will be held at Cooper's RC Race Center on the weekend of September 25th and 26th.

McLin
08-14-2004, 09:04 PM
Yep, I will get the list together this weekend and be sure it is posted so everyone can see who is "in" so far. The invitations will began to be sent out shortly.

Just bringing this back up to the top to remind everyone in the New Jersey area that Trax 70 will be holding their qualifier for the East Coast Paved Oval Invitational this weekend (the 28th). If you have not had a chance to qualify, especially in Open Modified, this will be a good time and a great track to do it.

They will also be running 4 cell Stock and Open 19t. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
