Humpty,
how do you offset the t plate and run the pod offset without hitting the battery tray?
Thanks

Humpty
12-20-2005, 03:41 PM
When you offset the Tplate ..The Pod is in the Center set of holes on bottom plate ....And the side shock ears on the cross brace ....Have to moved to the left also ...Looking at car from rear ...Right side is in inner 2 holes ond left side is in outer 2 hole ......So your shock lenghts stay right .....
And I run the car Long front short rear ...Someone asked about that ....

I am getting back into stock oval racing with a Hyperdrive Pro 2 Team after several years of absence. I would like a good starting setup (front springs, front width, wheelbase, side shock springs and oil, center shock springs and oil, off set pod or not, rear width, center shock height, etc) for running stock 4 cell oval at Sandhills in Vass, NC.

David, beem runnign the Pro 2 this year at Sandhills myself... i do run mod but i can get you close to start then adjust from there.

Front locators #3 on the left and #4 on the right. Run them in long posistion (front holes). i like the associated front spings myself, 20's, some run the wolfs . purple rt, green left.

Left front castor 0 degrees, rt frnt-1.5
left camber 2 degrees, rt 2 as well

T-plate triangle Finishline spring steel, on center pod.

Side shocks run 40wt oil with gold springs once you get the shocks built and to the proper length take and put 40/1000ths shims between one of the ball cups and the shock body for the shock th feeds the left rear tire (right side shock) this helps with the pre load. left rear weight should be between 12 oz and 13 ozs...

Center shock, try 50wt oil #3 HPI piston (HPI Shock) third hole frm the top on the Hyperdrive shock tower. Shock tower need to be 3 holes forward from the t-plate. 1/8th inch pod droop in the rear... you might go back to flat and no droop depends on how it runs.

Axle spacing... 20/1000ths shim on the dif side between the diff and the bearing. and .25 inch with the long left rear hub on the left.

Tires... BSRs, Black rf, grey lf, grey rr, white lr.
LR, RR, LF all the same size and the RF .025 taller.

This is my 19trn set up that should get you close to start for stock. you might make changes to it but it should give you a good idea.

I usualy pit over in turn 3 stop by and maybe i can help.... hope this helps a bit.

Harold H, Theirs a setup on the previous page you should start with for sandhills. It's for the solid chassis but should be fine for you also.

I have my pro 3 built and ready to run tonight but was wondering if everyones rear end width is 8" wide?.....I never ran my pro2 that wide but with Humpty's setup that is what mine measures. Also Humpty you say to run the rf locater in the middle ? since we have 1 2 3 4 what is the middle one?....
Thanks

pepe
12-23-2005, 12:11 PM
I'm pretty sure Humpty runs his rear end at 7 7/8's.No jokes here please.

Billy W
12-23-2005, 02:41 PM
Harold... the set up is mine pretty much the same setup as last year for 19trn and from years past with small changes.. the Pro 3 will need a couple small changes from it but it's pretty close.... come to DARKSIDE.... turn 3 and visit

MIKE VALENTINE

k7king do you have the locators plates in front of you. the 1 plate is the narrowest, the 4 plate widest, the 3 in the middle of the 1 and 4, the 2 plate is in the middle of 1 and 3. just stack them on top of one another. very simple to see where the hole line up.

k7king
12-23-2005, 03:46 PM
ok thanks I understand on the locators.I'm not sure how tyo get the rearend that narrow. I have the long rightside hub short leftside.Do you have to cut the inside lip of the left wheel to get it that narrow?

any help on the rear track width.

MIKE VALENTINE
12-28-2005, 02:36 PM
k7king I READ BACK A FEW POSTS AND DON'T SEE WHERE YOU POSTED A REAR WIDTH. WHAT'S YOUR QUESTION?

k7king
12-28-2005, 02:58 PM
I set my rear end up according to humpty's setup and my trackwidth is 8" wide. I always ran my pro2 7.875 wide. I can't seem to get it any narrower using the long diff side hub and the short ls hub.Humpty said he had "Rear spacing 3-20thts shims in left rear....6-20thts in right rear ".... I was wondering if that was with the short diff side hub or not?

Michael27
12-28-2005, 03:27 PM
No, I doubt hes on the on-center diff hub, If your track width is at 8" just try it. Assuming that your running flat carpet and if theres alot of bite on the track.

MIKE VALENTINE
12-28-2005, 03:35 PM
hupty didn't mention his rear track width, he gave you his setup, I would try it. If you feel like trying it narrow take out some spacers.

k7king
12-28-2005, 04:08 PM
Ok.....I'll try it.....I ran the car alittle narrower then that this week and I cannot believe the turn in this thing has. The car seems to turn a 90 degree corner. Needless to say I was turning the steering way down on the car and trying to learn to drive it this way. I think it will be alot faster then my pro2 if I can drive it.

Humpty
12-28-2005, 06:52 PM
Thats why the rear width is so wide K7 ...This car turns so much harder than the older cars .....If it is still to agressive...Add 40thts behind right front wheel pushing it out and preload the right front 20thts to compensate for rate change in right front spring ....

I purchased this 1/12. I was told its a Hyperdrive main chassis (the rear pod is a Track Attack).

The current stand off posts are 23 mm long. Which is too short for me to clear the cross brace in order to use the last battery position for my speed or for the battery all the way back.

Do you know what length I should be using on the sides/center? What about the optimal spring angle.

that car origianlly had 1.120 on the sides and .780 in the center.

thanks
barry

MIKE VALENTINE
12-30-2005, 10:27 AM
I thought it was .835 for the center post above the pivot ball, with 1.120 on the outsides. If you run the t-plate brace it may be .780, if the t-plate brace .055 thick.

pepe
12-30-2005, 12:26 PM
Can someone explain how offset T-plate affects the car?

mproy
12-30-2005, 12:30 PM
Thanks Barry and Mike.

So what's the final number? I do run the t-plate brace.

What was the car model?

M.P.

MIKE VALENTINE
12-30-2005, 02:29 PM
mproy if you run the t-plate brace, then you need to measure the thickness of the brace and subtract that and the pivot ball from 1.12. The pivot ball is .285, so if the graphite is .055 thick, then 1.120 minus .285 and .055 is .780, 1.120-(.285+.055)=.780

Can someone explain how offset T-plate affects the car?frees the car up going in the corner and tightens it up just a bit coming off if its offset left and if you have aver ran a tplate offset right tight in loose off thats just my opinion but thats what happened when i tryed it i run offset left on all concrete tracks still trying to figure out if i like it on carpet though

looking to buy a pro 3 but have some ???? 's , - do you get a offset hub with the kit?
-- do you get a offset upper pod plate? --- front axles 1/8 or the larger ones? ---- do you have to do any drilling other than the servo mounts? -----how many T plates and can you use ones from the 700 ( my 700 is great).
