JW Housley 08-10-2004, 03:24 AM Thanks Lisa.......yes I am planning on making the NORRCA race, probably gonna run stock.
Hey NewTooOval.......give us some info dude...we can help ya out!
Hope you make it William, looks like stock and 4c spec will have a good showing, and man them 19's are flying!
NewTooOval 08-10-2004, 06:41 PM As of yet I am not running. I am putting my kit together and was wondering what the differences were on the front end. I will be running probably at BMS or MSA and would like to run other tracks as well. I like to travel.
JW Housley 08-11-2004, 03:09 AM Cool dude.......I race at both of these tracks pretty often. I usually run my chassis with the narrow locators or the next step wider (1/32 KSG locators). If you have any specific question please feel free to email me. Good luck with your new kit!!!

NewTooOval 08-13-2004, 10:30 PM What is the advantage or disadvantage of running the rear short or long?
Steve Downs 08-14-2004, 09:58 AM Wheel base and it changes where the battery weight is in relation to the rear axle. Not taking in to account the effects the wheel base change, short will rotate more in the corner. In the long position it will rotate less.
Ran my new pro 2 shorty for the first time last night and this thing rocks,it just plain flies. This is got to be the best car on the market.Sorry KSG,keep sendin graphite LOL.
jcovalracer 08-20-2004, 12:48 PM I agree with you PEPE.....I too convert to Hydrive SSE Pro2(long) from KSG. I can't seem to keep KSG running consistent. It keeps changing every week. Very twitchy. But Pro2 is just plain smooth. I was totally surprised the difference between the 2 cars. It is indeed fast, so fast I have to drop 2 gears down to be able to ride the car the way I like it. I have not been struggling as I used to be with KSG. Have you made a comparison between long & short chassis? Iam curios about what will be best suited for which track. I run on flat oval about 280 run line & might be running bank carpet oval (sandhills) come wintertime. Will appreciate any feedback. Thanx
jayzee :dude:
mjmeer17 08-20-2004, 09:50 PM jcovalracer, where do you run a 280ft flat oval?
JC,
I've run both a long and a short car,the shorty really like's to rotate well on short and tight tracks, for more sweeping tracks I would stick with the standard chassis, just what I've experienced, both cars can be made to work about anywhere though.
burbs 08-22-2004, 04:48 PM congratulations to cory heft for tq'ing both 19t and brushless class at the paved nats.. cory was the only car to go 41 laps in both classes... also the 19t run was a new track record... cory ran a 700 car in both classes..
also congrats to hays reeling sr for tq'ing and wining the stock a main onhis pro 2
i ran my old 500 car and took 5th in the stock a main...
jcovalracer 08-23-2004, 06:16 PM jcovalracer, where do you run a 280ft flat oval?
I'm in Florida right now, but for the winter I will go up to NC. What car do you race ?
jcovalracer 08-23-2004, 06:19 PM JC,

Thanx PEPE, I will keep that in mind.
Have you run at Sandhills? What will be a good starting gear ratio for stock(new epic binary dual mag)? Any reccomendation for foam tires? Spring/oil/t-plate? Thanx
Donnie_99 08-23-2004, 08:58 PM i have run the car @ 10 in wheelbase at real short and real big tracks it seems to be the best all around wheel base. just a great car.
Donnie

Tornado_Racing 08-29-2004, 10:34 AM Great job yesterday Humpty. Thanks for wheelin' the car in stock. Congrats on your 2 track records and way to go "DL" for pullin' off the win in 19 open!
See ya'll at the Open!
Humpty,
Please e-mail me j0765@charter.net ,gotta question for ya.
Tornado_Racing 09-01-2004, 02:33 PM Good luck to Team HD this weekend at the ARCOR 2004 Paved Oval Open. See ya'll there on Friday!
Team HD wishes the best for all of our fellow Florida racers as the hurricane approaches.
Be safe guys!
What condition tells you you need to add pod droop?
TeamGoodwrench 09-06-2004, 01:21 PM I just picked up a PRO 2 Shorty and a 700 EASE. I'm ready to start painting some bodies, before doing so wanted to know what wheel base any of you use for Stock/19T flat carpet oval racing (I run tracks usually a little smaller than Snowbirds)?. My old chassis I ran about 10.5".
Do most of you deliberately mount your bodies forward or towards the back to adjust downforce on the front wheels or pretty much use the body template for the front wheel placement?
Thx
Tom
I didn't see an answer to this post -- What wheel base are guys running on the "shorty" chassis for flat carpet tracks ?? Ours is about 200' run line.
Thanks in advance.
Jeff.
erock1331 09-07-2004, 10:00 AM Jeff,
To be honest, if you ask 10 guys you will probably get 10 different answers on why guys run short or long wheelbases. I think it's more a matter of preference.
Some say short wheelbases turn harder, others say long wheelbases turn harder.
If a long or short wheelbase were faster you would see everyone running one or the other that is why I feel it is a preference.
On banked tracks in stock I prefer the shorty chassis in the shortest position 9 5/8".
Car just gets through the turns better for me. I ran this at sandhills and set the track record and it's a large track well over 200' runline.
I ran my shorty in the short wheelbase on 2 flat tracks, one was about 120' runline and the other about 165'.
The car worked well at both tracks.
On larger outdoor tracks to take some of the twitchyness out of the car I will run a longer wheelbase.
TeamGoodwrench 09-07-2004, 01:55 PM OK.. Thx erock.
I'm going to give the short/short setup a try on the shortie.
I ran the SSE-2 last year in the short/short position.
jcovalracer 09-07-2004, 07:12 PM ERIC:::::What will be a good set-up to go at Sandhills? I have a SSE Pro2 stock chassis. Will run in 4 cell stock(3300 bats). Please give recommendation on front springs l/r, center shock oil/spring, side shock oil/spring, and last but not the least, what motor do you guys run? New Epic Binary 2mags or Monster or what? & yeah what spur/pinion to start with? Thanx
BTW......foam tires...what compounds? JACO ? Murdock ? BSR ?
Thanx.....JayZee :dude:
I've ran both long and short wheelbases to compare the two and the short defintetly turns harder,is it faster? I don't think so, but I think it's just a "feel" thing.I like the way the short car feels, more aggresive feeling I would say.Now back to the pod question that never really got answered before. What is the best way to tell when you need pod droop? and what is the best way to add it? positioning of the center shock mount? or with shock length?
erock1331 09-09-2004, 11:05 AM JayZee
Let me dig out my setup from last year at Sandhills.
Now mind you things might change since they are putting in new rug for this season but the basics should work.
What's your email so I can send you my setup?
Humpty 09-09-2004, 04:12 PM PePe ....Pod droop is used mainly on bumpy race tracks ...Or to help free up the car .... Easiest way is to make the center shock longer ...
NewTooOval 09-09-2004, 05:33 PM Droop by this which way does the pod droop? Toward the center of the chassis or towards he rear of the car?
Thanks
rockin_bob13 09-09-2004, 05:59 PM Pod should be angled down away from the chassis. Not too much. @1/16" from the bottom rear motor plate to the chassis for carpet racing. If you drive down the straightaway with a big kink in the middle of the car, as my friend Brent told me, "That ain't fast". At a real big bumpy track I use more droop to keep the rear tires handling the big bumps. Just like you need more suspension travel on an off road car compared to a road car. More droop is like cutting the chain on a Nascar's rear axle. It allows more travel up and down.
Good deal, thanks guys that's what I needed to know.

left turner 09-16-2004, 10:39 PM need some help guys, been running ksg slider but tired of buying parts( K-eep S-ending G-raphite). ordered a new hyperdrive sse pro team. should have been here today but with hurricaine ivan down our throats it didnt get here. need some set up tips before i put it together.we run 205ft. flat concrete track. ksg runs pink bsr all they way around s and L,s . 70wt oil in center shock with green spring ,30wt in side shocks with red on right and blue spring on left(ksg is 4 cell slider ,new car is solid chassis with offset pod) front is wolfe red on right and white on left, would this be a good starting point? thanks, Ron.
MIKE VALENTINE 09-17-2004, 08:17 AM left turner i would start with the same setup, shocks and springs. just remember to try and get the wheel base close and the battery placement the same from the rear axle. then go from there.
left turner 09-18-2004, 09:12 AM thanks mike. yea im running the front end all the way back. i didnt know about the rear though, because the new offset pod.(need to change anything back there?never ran an offset).
MIKE VALENTINE 09-21-2004, 08:28 AM left turner i would recomend you run the same offset, as you where before for the first runs. then switch to the other offset to compare, be aware the car will be much more planted with the offset pod. alot of times you will feel that the car is slower but go by the stop watch you may be surprissed.
Todd Putnam 09-21-2004, 11:02 AM Is it true that your next project will be designing an off road vehicle for Hyperdrive? Rumor has it you were doing some research at a local track lately...Also heard that the research was for a new Hyperdrive kitchen appliance, and your were researching mixers...
MIKE VALENTINE 09-21-2004, 12:23 PM
left turner 09-22-2004, 07:17 PM thans mike, never ran an offset before. kit ordered was the offset one , doesnt come with a on center. hope it make a diffrence. ive been running a wide r/r and narrow left, should i still run that with an offset?
MIKE VALENTINE 09-23-2004, 08:19 AM left turner with the offset pod, you may not be able to tuck the left rear in as far as you were running it. just get as close as you can.
harringBONE 09-23-2004, 10:44 PM mike's latest creation spits and wizzes
MIKE VALENTINE 09-24-2004, 09:33 AM chris i'll send you some pics if you want.
harringBONE 09-24-2004, 06:40 PM bring em on
left turner 09-26-2004, 08:17 AM hate to say it, but i was a little dissapointed when i opened the kit. half the nuts werent in it, and the box and web show a threaded aluminum center shock, and mine came with a plastic one with shims. had to strip an old L3 to finish it.wanted the aluminum shock mount but mine had the graphite one(maybe it will be better).gonna put it on the track sunday and see how she runs.
Fl Flash 09-26-2004, 08:52 AM Leftturner, I,ve assembled 4 Hyperdrive kits in the last two months( 2 0700 ease team kits a SSE Pro 2 team kit and a SSE Pro 2 kit). All had all the parts, fasteners, etc and were excellent quality pieces.I ordered all of them with the optional HPI shock though. Also the Team kits come with the new style graphite center shock mount, 0,1/4 and 1/2 degree rear steer lower pod plates, aluminum servo mounts, front brace all anodized RED! well worth the extra $ Thanks Hyperdrive :D
erock1331 09-26-2004, 12:29 PM hate to say it, but i was a little dissapointed when i opened the kit. half the nuts werent in it, and the box and web show a threaded aluminum center shock, and mine came with a plastic one with shims. had to strip an old L3 to finish it.wanted the aluminum shock mount but mine had the graphite one(maybe it will be better).gonna put it on the track sunday and see how she runs.
Give Barry a call or email him. I am sure the missing pieces were just an oversight. I am sure he will make it right for you..
Just to clarify:
The non team kit - Plastic AE shock - plastic shock mount, plastic servo mounts and plastic castor blocks.
The Team kit includes the Graphite shock mount, alum servo mounts and alum castor blocks, Blue alum AE shock or the HPI depending on what you want.
I think some of the older kits even came with the Clicker shock
jeepnyy 09-26-2004, 03:37 PM hate to say it, but i was a little dissapointed when i opened the kit. half the nuts werent in it, and the box and web show a threaded aluminum center shock, and mine came with a plastic one with shims. had to strip an old L3 to finish it.wanted the aluminum shock mount but mine had the graphite one(maybe it will be better).gonna put it on the track sunday and see how she runs.
I have an extra HD aluminum center-shock mount. I will trade with you ifyou want to. Let me know.
left turner 09-26-2004, 07:36 PM mine was the team kit, but had the plastc center shock. ran it today, first heat came in 2nd, second heat came in 1st , third heat came in 1st ,main my set screw came out of right shock and put me out of it. seems like a great car, just got to get it set up right.
davepull 09-26-2004, 08:57 PM hey Hyperdrive boys I finally got to run my Blood red 9000 12th scale and let me tell yah I set this car up box stock and ran it @ the Florida state series race @ RPM on carpet. I ran the Macallister monte carlo TRC grey rears and Purple fronts because that is all I had. this little sucker was on a rail. I missed TQ by like .1 tenth. But in the main I was able to drive away and take the win. like I said sweet car.
