Have any of you guys had a problem with the window mask decals leaving all the sticky adhesive on the windows of your cars when you peel them off after painting your BANDIT bodies, what a mess, or am I doing something wrong.

We had a problem but it has been fixed on the newer stuff ...If it sticks take a piece of masking tape and dob it on the sticky stufff and it will come right off sorry about the problem...

If the glue doesn't come up easily heat it a bit with a hair dryer and it will help remove it also. Regretfully there are a few of the older bodies still out there being sold we tried to catch them all but we were not able to.

if you have a unopened body bag and are not sure if you got one of the older ones or if it is a new package. just e-mail me.

I have purchase a Bandit Taurus body for the Firecracker races. I dont know if it is just a fluke but the one I got have different thickness on the side/door panel. One is a lot thicker than the other side. And it goes from the door panel to the rear end of the body. Has anybody encounter such a discrepancy that I have to add a piece of lexan to the thin side so the battery will not damage it. I hope it is not in the mold that they use to create them.

Actualy Henry if you go back to the start of this thread or back to the other thread that was started, that is a 2 month old problem that was taken care of. It was caused when the suplier of the lexan changed materials on Rick. Since then it has been fixed.

Regretfully there are still a few floating around. we asked the shops to let us know so we could replace them but several haven't. What i suggest from now on is if you are going to buy a body from a shop. Don't just grab it and go check it before you buy it and inform the shop/track owner to contact us. If you mail order one and get one that is thin contact who you purchased the body from and have them contact us. Before we took care of it directly with the racer, but now we need to make sure the shops aren't selling them any more. If they contact us we can make sure they don't have anymore of the older bodies in stock or at least don't sell them.

If I send you the body with thin sidewalls, will you send a replacement? I bought it in good faith and hope the the quality is what it is as this thread has been saying all along. I don't know if you have a manufacturer's warranty or not coz' this seems to be an over-sight on the part of quality control and as you have mention that you are aware of this situation. Please keep us posted. Thanx.

And as i said before if you know of any tracks or hobby shopps that have thin ones on the shelf have them get with us as well and we will do a replacement for them as well.

I just ran a Bandit HDMC for the first time this weekend. I switched from the Protoform HDMC to try it out. I didn't change the set up on the car and just switched bodies. The first thing I noticed was that the car did not steer as well as before, so I took some left weight out and BAM, I was hooked up! I guess the car has more down force on the whole car because it was really planted. I like it. The right side of the car was a little thin but not as bad as the Taurus when it first came out and I have had this body for a couple of months. Good job guys and keep up the good work!

Billy, we all know that NASCAR has a common body template now. I watched Wind Tunnel a few nights ago and they were talking about a common "NASCAR" body. No definite Mfg.'s markings. This body would be designed by NASCAR, but still built by the teams. This being proposed as early as next year, would Bandit be looking to create a common body of it's own? If so, what features from each Mfg.'s body and what year would be incorporated to make this body the King of all bodies? Just curious.

Well, I just got back from the hobby shop with my NEW Bandit HD Monte Carlo body. It doesn't look like it has any defects or anything. The only thing that I had to do was to modify the window masking a bit, but I normally do that with all my bodies. Unfortunetly I got the one with no headlight/taillight decals:( , but I have some laying around somewhere.

Billy, I have a suggestion;, I don't know if you would end-up doing this, but it would be awsome if you could get a window design drawn on the window mask so when you are finished painting your body you can use those guidlines to help you when you paint the window trim and such, just a suggestion.

Also, maybe if you could get the front wheel-well marked-out, so it could be easier for mounting.

I know that Bandit has just begun not too long ago, but these are just some suggestions that could improve Bandit's already successfull start even more...

I was also curious if there is a Bandit body RC team out there yet? It would be neat to start one to help spread the word of this awsome body and show what it's capabailities are......

Well, I guess that's all for now! THanks for giving us an awsome body to use!!!

Thanks!

Nitro, Nice idea but when they put the "common" body in effect they still are going to be different from team to team. The main idea that will be the same for NASCAR is that the general profile and green house location. teams and MFGRs are still going to be allowed to alter certin areas. So there isn't any real one great body. Plus there will be cars with differences for Super speedways (narrower body) and flat tracks and (widers with hard edges) the list is endless to the differnces that will still be out there. Bottom line is there is no on shape that will make a body work everywhere. So i don't see where it will realy pay off. plus if NASCAR does it, and an R/C car does it the the R/C company has to work out the rights with NASCAR. and we saw what that did to SLIXX.

James, yes we are doing that. but since we are toward the end of those bodies being around we are requesting that they be sent back to us now. We will slip a little something extra in the box for the shipping. Just send it back to the address on the header card.

Justin appears that you bought one of the eailer bodies since it did not have head light decals did it have the Bandit logo decals in it? The front wheel is not marked out intentionaly. this way it allows for the body to be shifted forward or backward on the chassis for the desired performance. with so many cars having diferent wheel bases available it also helps that you are not stuck with one way of mounting also. As far as the window masks go... check with some of the decals companies that cut paint masks to order most of them have the window masks cut with the out line built in.

And yes there is a body team out there. Eric Anderson Johnny Broyles, Andy Mac, Jeff "Humpty" Helms, Jody Miller, Housley (above), Katfish, Adam and Rick Lier, Frank Peachock.. to name a few....... once we get the web site loaded we will have a list up that we hope to include drivers names, photos and photos of their cars.

Thanks for the interest and the support from everyone.....

Thanks for the love Billy.....................

Here are a few body mounting tips for the Bandit bodies.

Bandit Monte Carlo:
Mount the body 1/4" from the front of the bumper and pitch the body to the nose just a little bit. This will help with front downforce and really helps balance out the car.

Bandit Taurus:
Mount the body flush/even with the front bumper and keep the height of the front fenders even with the rears. Do not pitch the body, so mount it flat or even. The Taurus has so much frontal downforce that if you move it forward or pitch the body the car may get loose or twitchy. The greenhouse channels the air away from the rear wing/spoiler really freeing up the car.

These are a few things we have tested for Bandit and seem to be the ideal starting place for mounting these bodies.

If you guys have any other questions just post them here!

Where do the Bandit MC bodies like the wings mounted ?? With the horizontal part level with the roof line ? above it ? below the roof line ?

I normally run the Thunder 5" wing in stock class.

Thx.

Billy W
08-04-2004, 11:31 PM
Goodwrench, depends on what you are looking for. from what i remeber most are mounting it, with the up-kick of the wing at the back, level with the roof. i mount mine a little bit lower. If you are running 19trn open or 0 degree or stock i would go lower less drag from the wing. and i'm sure some one will prefer it different. i feel that with those classes you real don't need much rear downforce as much as you use the side dams for stability. thats just me. bet thing i guess i should have said before confusing someone is experiment and see which form at gives you the best desired results.

Now i will say also that if you ruin the ford you will probably start out with the kick-up even with the roof of the body. then try moving it down lower till it gets too loose. then go up a hair.

Jody miller ran a ford on the semi flat oval at Coopers this past weekend and his car was realy awesome. Maybe he can elaberate on where he had the wing located.

Just to add to what billy has said:

We run the wing as low to the deck as possible. We have the rear edge of the wing even with the deck lid/spoiler kick up. This is where we always start and mounting it as low as you can will reduce drag and you use the side dams for corner stability only. We have run the same set up in 19 zero with great success.
