BA Motorsports 06-03-2004, 02:33 PM Anyone that runs the KSG Motorsports solid chassis car, is this car a good competitive durable piece and would you recommend buying one?
bud3738 06-03-2004, 02:37 PM I have a slider...It is the best flat track car Iv ever owned....Graphite is fairly brittle
compared to other cars.....Run a foam bumper....Doesnt take much to break chassis...
The solid is a little stiffer...so I would imagine stronger......as far as you question,,
Yes I would buy another
MobileMikeV 06-03-2004, 04:07 PM I love the car also. The chassis is brittle though, escpecially if you run short wheelbase. The chassis tends to break in front of the front end screws. usually towards the front of the slot.
BA Motorsports 06-03-2004, 05:46 PM I don't like the sound of brittle. What kind of steel spring T-plate will work on the KSG cars?
Mark Recio 06-03-2004, 05:53 PM Not sure what you are hitting guys, but you might want to stop! Here in Indiana & Kentucky, we haven't seen any problems with them being brittle. The KSG cars use standard T-plates, so any will work, but the Silva t-plate is a very nice & consistent piece.
KSG=keep sending graphite.LOL
BA Motorsports 06-03-2004, 06:18 PM I was told it's, ( KILLER SPEED GUARANTEED )!
SMROCKET 06-03-2004, 06:32 PM Meineke , You are correct the car is super fast out of the box and the 1 piece car is an excellent car .Mostly used on banked track SRM
Danny B 06-03-2004, 06:52 PM I have never broken a piece of graphite on the KSG, and 90% of the races on the car have been in open mod and as you know speed kills!
bud3738 06-03-2004, 09:43 PM I dont want you guys to think that we race down the straightaways and
"KABOOM"...head 1st into the wall....we kind of now what we are doing but when thier is close racing...thier sometimes a pileup....All Im saying is I have broken my chassis and seen NobileMike break 2 chassis's in the exact same spot.....on the right front at the mounting holes for the front end....The car has
a little more flex than my other cars and maybe that is why it is so Dang fast in the corners...........I love my KSG.....would buy another....I wouldnt run the graphite front bumper....Instead put a qaulity foam bumper there....That is what I am in the process of doing now...Thought you would want an opinion from
someone who works 40-60 hrs a week to support his family and stay in this hobby............................................. ......
.
Also....With guys Like Danny B and SRM.....these guys have helped me with setup advice for this car.......Another big reason I bought the car...They were a big help.....you wont regret it....
mightymidget 06-03-2004, 10:40 PM I have 2 ksg's sliders, never had a problem with them and i crashed hard at st,rock and never broke anything,i'd highly recomend KSG

CraigMBA 06-04-2004, 03:30 AM I broke a chassis at Vegas. A serious radio hit coming off of three and right into the wall in four. The car was only doing about 45 when I crashed it (open modified).
Outside of that, the car is tough as nails.
Danny B 06-04-2004, 04:34 AM CraigMBA, i remember that wall in vegas! Of course we saw a couple 3mm maverick chassis' get busted up there too. I still don't know why some guys had radio troubles at that track, must be all the lights on the strip.
I was just kiddin guys, the ksg's are top notch cars,as are the HD's
CraigMBA 06-04-2004, 12:37 PM CraigMBA, i remember that wall in vegas!
I figured mine out. We went back for a SWT race in January and I got them again - during the day, same place in turn three. I was like what the darn........
I figured out that the only thing in my car that was the same from the last race was the speed control, so I changed it to a Keyence I had in my solid chassis car and that fixed it. I don't think they had 3300's and 4 cells and 4 minute races in mind when they designed the one I was using (as voltage goes down, amperage goes up).
So my bill for two races in Vegas is two bumpers, one chassis, one complete set of radio gear, one speed control, and one motor to figure out that the part I changed last was causing the problem.
jeepnyy 06-04-2004, 03:07 PM I have the solid chassis KSG that I replaced my aging ADX. I was struggling a bit when I first got it. But now I think I have it the way I like it. I run at BMS high-bank ovals....and it's not pretty when you hit the wall at all. The first thing that I broke was the t-plate (2) then the bumper & last week the nerf wing. I have replaced the bumper with a generic from AAA and glue an RPM blue foam and have re-inforced the nerf wing by adding a third hole to make it stronger just in case i have an encounter with those walls again. Other than that, it seem to be holding fine(chassis). I also re-built the shocks and the front end to remove slop and use wolfe long king pins.
SMROCKET 06-04-2004, 03:25 PM Hi JEEPNY , I ran at BMS last year and the walls can break any car .I know ZUBAk went thru less say LOTS of graphite at the nats .... I love that track though ....I went thru 2 ADX chassis as well that weekend so do not feel bad ..... I am trying to get back down there for the 4th of july race .......SRM
BA Motorsports 06-04-2004, 04:13 PM I'm not having any luck finding one of the KSG xcs2 ( solid chassis ),car kits, I got an e- mail early last week from MSA, that it would be 7 more days and that he would notify me when he got them in, but no word yet. Are KSG replacement parts that hard to get also? If so I might need to go in another direction.
MobileMikeV 06-04-2004, 05:29 PM Well, my two broken chassis came from two massive radio glitches. They were head on, and full throttle in 19t at the Associated race and at the regionals in practice. The same thing happenned both times in the same spot at the same track. with the same radio.
Looks like the radio needed a new antenna lol.
The car really is great though. However, the chassis seems to break before the bumper. maybe a washer that has a slightly angled upper surface would work? That way the forc isn't applied directly through the the chassis. the bumper would fold under and snap this way. I would rather break a bumper anyday!

Zubie is a bad anology. Yous should see how much windex he goes through. Just playin Big John, can't wait to see the wheelies in 4-cell mod going the wrong way down the back straight again.

SMROCKET 06-05-2004, 02:16 PM Alot of the problems with frontend breaking is on eo f two things .Either you do a bad job of mounting the FOAM BUMPER or you use the wrong size screws in the frontend ....They need to be 100 degree screws Not 82 degree .....I ordered 100 degree screws and I have not had a probelm in over 10months .....
I really think someone needs to be doing FOAM bumpers already perfectly molded to a variety of bodies ......I know that when I raced tfor ADX Greg Kriaos had drawings for some bumper for PROTOFORM and BOLINK bodies ready to go to the waterjet ...If someone is smart they would call him and get JACO to cut them anbd get um on the market .....
SRM
bud3738 06-05-2004, 11:08 PM Srm...100 deg. screws?...where can I get some..ay link...so you dont run
the graphite bumper.......?....please explain......little confuesd
Mayhem 06-06-2004, 12:59 AM 100 degree screws? With the weather around here lately its been very cool, I think the 82 degree screw will work fine. ;) The way mobile mike punishes a car he'll need a cowcatcher on the front to keep from breaking!
MobileMikeV 06-06-2004, 09:53 AM the cow catcher can be for the corner marshalls ha ha!
Hey, yesterday didn't go too bad until i leaned back and lost the car behind the rail. I need to mount a niece piece of foam to the end of the graphite bumper. right now i have a little thin piece of adhesive foam because on flat track not many things get hit. But apparently banked is a little different. lol
Mike Voccola
SMROCKET 06-06-2004, 11:45 AM BUD I get the 100 degree screws from Fasteners Express .They have colors as well as plain aluminum .......
I do run the bumper but I make sure to have a foam bumper on that perfectly fits the body and makes the body much stronger .Take your time and make it fit just right and the broken chassis stuff will go away ....
ROCKET
CraigMBA 06-06-2004, 02:27 PM The bumper fit perfect on my velodrome car and there's nothing left of it forward of the rear shock mount...........
You hit something hard enough, you'll break it.
Echeconnee 06-06-2004, 03:20 PM Ouch!!
gezer2u 06-07-2004, 01:17 AM Yeah, but you gotta see him drive, Clear the track! Just kidding you Carlton! Carlton has been around a long time and is a good driver and nice guy.
SMROCKET 06-07-2004, 11:44 AM Craig , I here you on the VELDROME ,,,, Love to race that kind of track BUT I have been over the wall on the INNDY velo once .....
I would bet you were doing 60- 65 MPH before the accident ...
SRM
CraigMBA 06-07-2004, 12:04 PM At least. I came out of two and either:
- Had the servo come unplugged
- Got a monster radio hit
- Hit a bump and got aero push
right in the wall. I got to pick up what was left of my car in a garbage bag, but I found most of it. What really sucked was I just ripped off the second quickest lap of the weekend in modified.
BA Motorsports 06-07-2004, 03:02 PM Thanks ts, for hooking me up on the KSG Motorsports XCS2 car kit, nice looking piece. I hope to be racing soon.
jeepnyy 06-07-2004, 06:24 PM I had a decent weekend of racing even though I didnt made the A but I finished all my qualifiers & the mains in ONE PIECE....that alone is an accomplishment on BMS, no broken parts. I would like to thank Johnnyy Broyles(pardon the spelling) he hepled me on my KSG....reccommended adding more preload on my left front(0.200) & using fuel line tubing to further remove slop on the center shock, they all made the car drivable. ........Now if I can just drive the right line...then I may make the A.......maybe..
SMROCKET 06-08-2004, 10:56 AM You keep on worjing with Johnnie B hes the best would give you the shirt off his back ......good luck and have fun SRM

BA Motorsports 06-09-2004, 09:09 PM I want to thank Andy from KSG Motorsports, he has replied to every e-mail question that I have had about their cars, and that means alot to me.
jeepnyy 06-15-2004, 08:40 PM Does anyone knows whats the reccomended rollout for BMS ?
burbs 06-16-2004, 01:49 AM i agree the ksg is a great car... as i wait for my kgb production kit. i have actually been running a slider version... so far the car works... still not as fast as the hyperdrives on our track , but both times this year i ran it i went personal bests....
i sent out my kgb proto to another guy on the team during my break, so now i have no choice LOL.... soon hopefully soon ill be back on the KGB...
also i did see teo guys last year break there chassis plates in the same spot as described.. right front .... one guy actually ran his broken all year... and was fast lol.. i dont recomend it, but it was funny...
hey rocket.. are u boys comming for the paved nats at the triclone.. later

You guys run flat track right?
Are the HD guys running the 0700 car or the Solid chassis SSE2?

Xpressman 06-16-2004, 04:01 PM I don't know if I missed it somewhere but is KSG going to make the 12th scale car? Thanks.
Brian Anthony
SMROCKET 06-16-2004, 04:42 PM BURBS , I know the KSG TEAM guys are planning on going to that race and I hope to be one of them ....Andy and Jimmy are coming as well as Danny B and others ....
EXPRESSMAN KSG does have a 12th scale car and I am sure when they get enough time to procuce one they will ....I think 6-7 cars in the SNOWBIRDS A main were KSG cars ......I will try to get you more info and post ASAP

MobileMikeV 06-16-2004, 05:05 PM Burbs: I ran my broken chassis for 4 months. I bolted an old Hyperdrive bottom pod plate to the front end. drilled to holes out for the bumper, cut the body post down up front, and made the slots for wheelbase adjustment. I ran it in the Region 1 race and at the Assoc. race
burbs 06-16-2004, 05:46 PM EROCK no we run banked asphalt in summer on cap tireas... we got the roar nats this summer to.. check out www.triclone.com (http://www.triclone.com/) the track is beutiful...
the 0700 seems to work best.. if u have one of the og thin chassis versions u are diald.... the stiffer chassis seem to be a bit slower... this track likes flex...

Thanks. I know they have one as I've seen Dwight Smith with his as well as Ted Flack's.
Gotjuice? 06-19-2004, 09:28 AM I run a 195ft low banked Bull ring with 6 cars on it all the time and have had some killer wrecks. My KSG Slider has never broke. This is the best turning car I have ever had. Just a basic setup and it will fly. If you run short track a Slider and Bandit MC body is the ticket.

jeff the slider chassis is better for flat carpet
TeamGoodwrench 06-25-2004, 01:33 PM Burbs --
It's killing me not to be running outdoors at Tri-Clone, but my schedule is just too full right now to allow it.
LEFTHANDER R/C is doing very well and that takes a lot of my time.
But.. I am determined to make it over there at least once this summer. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
:-)
