Just thought I would open a new street spec thread just in case the new street spec racers had any questions.

Who's planning to run Pro-Spec in the new points series? I'm going to give up touring for the summer and come back to the left-turn-only gang.

well as far as I know it will be me, eugene, steven, tom is undecided I believe I think one of the papadono brothers is still going to run spec and a father and son team from the north side are hopfully going to run this season. joe hadnock keeps talking about coming back but I hav'nt heard from him latly.I'm sure there are a couple I have missed.so thats 6 to 8 drivers or more.

Stoney- You've pretty much got the starting lineup down for the HW Summer Pro-Spec series. You,Steven Pierce,Steven Pedano,Eugene Biala,and the father & son (Brandon) team. Not sure about Tom & Hadnot is unable to return due to increasing work schedule.

There were two Steve's Friday night, Padano was fast and was keeping up with Tom's car drivin by John Hart. Hart supposedly has another car in the works, possibly for some spec racing. Should still be a good class to run, I know I will run spec again. Just not for points anytime soon. Two cars in one night is a lot of work.

I have decided to run 2 classes this season also 4 cell stock and pro spec.I am looking forward to this season its going to be a good one I am also planing on racing out of town more this year so I am hiped about that also. I hope we start racing on sundays again when it cools down in the fall. I am planning on runing gas touring. I know I have to learn to turn right. :jest: well we will see if I can do it. :thumbsup:

I know you can do it. I ran two classes this past series and now that my son wants to race legends so that's three classes to prepare for this next series.

I am going to Bradford this Saturday for some Nastruck and possibly Strickland (June 12). Hope to see if you can make it.

Stricklands is worth the drive down. Its all highway and the race is put on very well. Food, well lit, and super smooth surface. I itchin to make it down there for the 12th as well.

Yes sir I had a great time last night Even though I broke in the main. I was a litte mad at first but I got over it thank goodness there was'nt another race cause I did'nt have another T plate. stock racing was good I got 4th in it. finally got my car to act right.see you in branford tonight I am also runing nastruck. good racing last night guys I had a blast even though my car got broke in the main again... but it was all my falt this time. I had a look at the points and me and steven our tied for first followed by eugene and steve p. going to be a very close point series. I think cris is going to join in on the fun with us. you got to watch out for this guy. he is fast and wreckless. not a good combonation. see ya next week.

Had a whole lot of fun with the very close racing. I thought I had something for you guys but as usual I broke a t-plate during practice and messed everything up. The 2nd qualifier was the best yet till I really broke the car and prevented me from racing the main. Oh well till next time..

Ok pro-spec guys we had a rain out and with only 10 points separating the first and third places its going to be close. Steve Pedano is leading with 388, myself and Stoney tied for 2nd with 384 and Steve Pierce is right behind us with 378. I was hoping to get the tq points this week but will have to wait.

Might be 2 more pro spec racers this week. if cris and steven show up it may get a little crouded out on the track oh well more people for cris to run into.LOL. hey I have talked to some other pro spec drivers about opening up the tires to any tire for next season. what do you think guys? I am for it. :dude:

Ok there is going to be some traffic friday night james and bradon are going to be racing there first race ever(newbys) and jason the three time defending spec champ is going to join in on the fun.hopfuly I can chase him down. me and eugene are tied for 2nd in the points we both despratly need tq & a win to catch up to steve padono he is 4 point ahead of us. told you it was going to be a close series. good luck eugene loks like it's going to be a fight to the death.

There isn't a defending champ this time around since I'm not running, but next series, I'll be back. I'll FINALLY have two cars by then. What do you guys think about starting another class called "open spec" rather than changing the rules of Pro-Spec, this is what I'm thinking, Spec battery, and Spec Motor, done. Tires, brush/springs, open. That way the new people don't have to go out and buy new tires to hang, and they would still have a newbie class to run in (ironically called "Pro-Spec"); and us "ol'timers" can play around with the good stuff ;) What do you guys say?

Opening up the tires in pro-spec is fine with me. I've been wanting open brush for sometime as most of you know. Those spec brushes glaze over too easy having to replaced more often, and they are pretty hard on the comm compared to a softer brush like "R" brushes or 4383s. There is a small price difference in brushes, but running the brushes that come on the motor is FREE?!?!? and I think its just as good a brush.

More pro spec racers is want we need. I am open to anything as long it gets more people to race against. I personnally like the spec battery, spec motor, spec tires, but open to springs and brushes.

Sounds good to me, either way. I don't want to start another class just to keep newbies seperate. But if we do start another class, we need to make it different enough to justify it. Opening it up for tires and brushes would be a big enough difference but still keep it "spec"ish. If Pro-Spec gets bigger than 8 people we are looking at two mains anyway. If we split it up, we get two sets of plaques (and both classes will grow) and everyone is in the A-Main. Sounds like we all win. I've spent 120 bucks on batteries ALONE so far for 19t, that would translate easily to three 6-cell Spec packs , four sets of Spec tires and one brand new Ex-Spec motor. Doooooh! Not to dog myself too bad, but I haven't done any more laps in my 4cell 19t car than my pro-spec car.... not giving up yet though ;) Gotta win a couple 19t races first. I'll race both classes next series but still focus on 19t.

Speaking of "defending champion",the "defending 2nd place 2004 Winter Series runner-up" will be back next series,too! I already have 2 cars,but I'm waiting for pod plates in order to finish car #2.
IMO,you could race and score the new guys w/the vets in the same race. Except the newbies would be on their own score sheet. (Got pencil & paper? lol) Think of it as running for "Rookie Of The Series Points",like NASCAR. Could be possible for one driver to win 2 plaques in one class! lol

good job on your first race guys james takes 2nd on the qual and brandon 2nd in the main you can't ask for better than that for your first race. well eugene, james and brandon will be out of town next week so it will be you, me and steve and the new guy gary if he races again. this class just keeps dwendaling down. oh yea jason will probably be there too. cool. thats 4 realy fast cars giong to be a good race. :roll:

I hope it doesn't dwindle down too far. I'm putting my oval car back together this weekend. Hope to get in some practice and do some time trials on Monday to see how far I am from being race-ready again.

I'll be back next series for a few races, so will George, and Jason will be back as well.

My son and I would like to get back into the oval racing scene at HW. We have two older Street Spec cars which were set up just for that class at that time. Now you guys have Pro Spec. Could someone give me an example of what gears, spur and pinion, most of the guys run ? Not looking for any secrets, just want to be somewhat competetive. I think this class still runs the Spec batteries and Spec motor and tires, correct? Thanks in advance !

:wave: yes you can still run that car.use spec tires the spec motor must have S brushes black or siver springs and the brushes can not be altered in any way exept broke in.and spec batteries or a dynomite 1500 pack they sell at hobby world( the black ones).you are allowed to use a wing which I recomend you do. glad to have you back. there are two more point races to the end of the series. then there will be 2 club races before we start the next point series. loking forward to rubbin fenders with ya!!!!!!!!! :roll:

Great run guys. To bad I forgot to tighten up my left hub after working on my diff. I wanted to give Stoney a run for it. Not sure if I'll be able to make it next Friday, Aren has a karate tournament next weekend.

Glad to see more pro-spec racers coming. I sure the class will continue to grow. Only difference in HW Pro-Spec is the open chassis. Any pan chassis will work. I am running an very old 10LSS chassis, spur 78, pinion 28, 29, 30 (depending on tire size and motor), protoform HD Ford Taurus Body (won in raffle) and very warm 1600 spec batteries, haven't tried the 1500 but will try it.

So you guys now have my setup. There is no excuse to come out and race :p Hope to see you racers soon at the track. :wave:

Anyway,with the introduction of the Pro-Spec thing,you can also use tweak screws w/those old Spec cars. Using the screws & a wing will make those cars handle way better than before.

BTW,My gearing was a 115/36 w/new tires.

Yeah, Irvan36mm, that was me talking w/ya at the computer area. A big thanks for the input. That is one of the reasons I like it at HW, the racers are all nice and willing to share knowledge with us new guys to help the sport.
I will need to change out my current gearing as I still have the original Spec gearing or 81 Spur and something on pinion (forgot now). I do have a 120 Spur and a 32 pinion. Not sure about battery life withthis combo and spec batteries. What do ya think?

I'm not sure if the "old" Spec fixed gear ratio would be competitive today or not. The only to find out is to run the 32/120-geared car w/other Pro-Spec cars & see if ya can stay with them or not.

Rbomar, Me and Jason want to run "old" spec if you want to. All we need is three guys to run. We both have race ready Trinity Street Spec cars ready to go. Let me know, I can bring mine this Friday. We were running "open" gear the last few series. A good gear to run was 36/120 or 37/120. Blue fronts, green rears. or an orange right front during the summer. I miss the simplicty of just having to change tires and blow my car off. I'll give Jason a call and see if he'll bring his next Friday. The cars really don't compete with the "open" chassis Pro-Spec class. Some would argue that point, but there really isn't any chance a classic spec car by itself could EVER beat the newer chassis.

I will bring my street spec this Friday. Are you talking about running a total street spec class using the original spec chassis and spec gears, or use open gear? I will set mine up accordingly. Be easy on this old timer as its been over a year since I've actually raced at HW.

We can run either way. I'll take it easy on ya, but I can't speak for Jason. ;) see-ya Friday. And yes, a totally seperate class than the Pro-Spec. Classic Spec will be back this Friday. Can't wait.

Run the classic spec cars w/the pro spec that's the only way to find out how it will handle. Remember it's all for fun plus my eight year can race w/me. :p

I would rather run seperate from the pro-spec guys. That way we don't get in your way ;)

Not sure if I will be able to make it to the track by start time tonight. I had a large palm tree fall down in my front yard. Missed my house and neighbors though. Whew ! Need to cleanup as soon as possible. Anyway, I'll probably just make it to watch tonight.
