I plan to be there on 5/14/04 one eye and all. I think you guys should give me at least a 2 lap advantage so I will be on a level playing field. I mean what kind of bragging can you do if you whip up on the handicapped ?

man, what a great day of racing!!!

first i would like to thank everyone for their support of the 6.0 breakout class. i am glad we decided to let those w/ electric touring cars run w/ us. i think we can continue w/ this formula for a while. some have mentioned maybe going to 5.5 sec., but i think we should run like this for a while. at this rate of growth we will have 15 racers in this class before long. we had 4 entries the first trial weekend and 8 on the first official race. i have also heard of about 3 more for next time.

second, i want to remind everyone of the scheduled "work on the track day" next saturday may 22nd. we will paint the wall and possibly lay some of the inner apron in the turns.

last, congrats to all the winners yesterday:

nitro novice: evan fortier
6.0 spec: james stroud (oval racer 2)
2wd pro electric truck: gerry moore
nitro touring stock: james stroud (oval racer 2)
nitro pro truck: marty harrell (tachie)

next race saturday june 5th
come on out and join us!

Thanks Oval , I am looking forward to testing my new body and hoping for some 4 sec laps to try and keep the road hot behind if not in front of you. I dont think the paint is going to bother me ,probably help. The apron is going to look good but I am really afraid 2" of concrete is not going to hold up under the weight of a turn marshal. With all the rain they got Sat. night it may not still be there. 6 inches I am told. It washed Thunder Alley into the center. Going to have to drag it back out on the track and pack it back down.

the wall looks nice. i hope steve actually finishes the apron in time for the next race. i think it will be nice.

i heard about thunder alley. i was going to run sunday, but i called first. maybe this sunday?? i sure hope so b/c two weeks with no racing will drive me nutty!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been told by Steve that some guys are coming to race T-Maxx class. Anyone reading this bring them on it might be interesting. Big trucks, small track might even get some 6 sec laps out of these monster trucks.

I liked the track ,just wish I had finished a race. It would take me a while to get used to the narrow back stretch. It calls to you to flatfoot and it lies, you can't make it.

I guess I will have to pay better attention next race ,I thought I was in the third heat not the main or I would have put my truck back on the track. Racing man you have to run rubber tires and I get to run the foams next time.
Oval just so you know , I ran rubber tires the whole day. Qualified 2nd and I had something for ol racing 8 but he had a little help from the novice class.
We will play I win next time. LOL

Tachie

PS Oval did you make us look good at Chatham? If not you can not come back to the barn.

oval racer 2
07-18-2004, 12:25 PM
well, struggled a little all day qualified 4th out of 6. i was running 2nd in the main about a straight behind first place. i was not losing any ground ,but not gaining either. then disaster struck, i hopped the front end on a rock that was laying on the track on the front stretch and got airborne into the wall. it creamed the right front, broke the r/f spindle, so i limped home the last 10 laps or so w/ only left front steering. i was using brake to turn car in turns. still came home 3rd w/ a nice trophy. oh well maybe i will have better luck next time.

Glad you did good man. I'm surprised you haven't called me. Let me know the whole story of what happened. Hope you had a good time. I did pretty good yesterday at the barn. Tachie is suffering from alzheimers or something cause he can't figure out what race is what--can't win that way. How old is he anyway????????

Got some parts from Terry that you need to pick up. Give me a buzz.

See you later

Tachie,

Let me explain something to you--the 3rd heat and the main are different races. Maybe them rubber tires are causing you brain to burn out--go back to the foams man. I'll let you know next time when we are running the main.
Sorry about the novice--you just got to learn how to get around them. Does Sammy remind you of a little 12 year old from last year?

We're going to play at the barn next Saturday. See you.

Racing 8,
As far as I know I am older than dirt. Please help me keep tabs on what race I am in. I can then follow you to the finish line from in front of you. You done good Oval, third place on another mans turf first time out lets you come back to the Barn with your head held high. 8 I might give Kidd a shot next Sat and see if I can do like Gerry Grimes and beat their track record. I TQ,d yesterday then blew a spur gear right at the start of the Main. Tried out the Revo and it drives just as well as the GS Storm just a little less power. I was able to run down anybody that happened to be on the track,Losi stadium truck,T-Maxx etc. Like the man in the commercial said; I Love My REVO.

Tachie,

I talked to Gerry and heard that you're going to a dirt track this Saturday. Don't know if you remember that this is a money race at the barn this Saturday. Send me your cell phone number--I had it but lost it--old age!
If you're not going to make it Saturday, good luck wherever you go.

man i wanted to go to rock hill badly, but unfortunate circumstances caused me to miss it.
my father was diagnosed w/ a rare form of leukemia on the monday after the regional race. started chemo on that thursday, went into the critcal care unit the following monday, on life support the following monday w/ complications w/ his lungs and is still on the life support as of now. i did not feel like i needed to make that trip to rock hill. i could not bring myself to travel that far away. i did race in wilson on the 7th, in order to get my mind off of it for awhile. i can get from wilson to the hospital just as fast, as from my house to the hospital, so i did not feel uncomfortable going. man i never missed being able to talk to my father so badly! i just hope he wakes up so i can talk to him at least once more.
i am however gearing up for the "open" when i am not at the hospital. i hope that he will be better by then. the doctors are giving him a 50/50 shot at getting out of the hospital if there are no more complications, so we will wait and see.

Hey Oval,
Maybe by Sept. 5 things will be sorted out for the best. If so you might want to come to Thunder Alley and take home some of that 200.00 purse for Pro 1/10 scale. I should take a shot at the Novice class. I have never raced a two wheel drive on that track? Think they would let a one-eyed old man run in that class?

well, the lord called upon dad on saturday aug. 14th. he will be missed!!

thanks to all my fellow racers for their support over the last few weeks, it has helped alot. i have never lost someone so close to me before and it has been tough at times. i can never say "thanks" enough for all the support.

i have one word of advice for everyone reading this,"GET YEARLY PHYSICALS"
i know we as guys tend to not go to the doctor unless something gets overbearing, but please for your and your family's sake go to the doctor regularly. dad would never go to the doctor, and only went this last time b/c he hurt badly from an enlarged spleen. he only lasted 3 weeks after his diagnosis. i feel that he would have had a few more years if his leukemia had been treated sooner. so again, even if you don't do it for yourself, do it for your loved ones!

i plan on racing at the barn this saturday and the the arcor open on labor day as planned. i know my father would have wanted it that way.

later,
james
