I don't have the cash to compete with all the e-bayers to actually win a bid on an AFX Taka-Q Toyota GTP or AFX Denso Toyota GTP, so maybe someone has one or both that they would be willing to part with for a more reasonable sum of money.

If you are interested contact me through Hobby Talk -- I have 100% positive e-bay feedback with 158 total feedback through both buying and selling.

Thanks!

A Toyota Denso GTP car just went for $80 this evening. Item 5997786856. The buyer had a new ID, created today. The seller was from Hong Kong. I wonder sometimes...

I hear ya, Hornet. I can't find them anywhere but the auctions. The blue and white Minolta is available through hoslotcars.com but the red and white Denso and the yellow and white taka-Q only show up now and then in auctions. I bit the bullet recently and won a taka-Q and Denso in two separate auctions. Neither was in the original packaging but that's ok with me. I've got all my GTP bodies on X-Traction chassis so I can run them without fear of a devastating crash. They look sharp with the chrome rims too. I'm going to experiment with "clip lowering" an X-Traction chassis to bring the nose down on a few of the bodies but the Toyotas are pretty nice as is. I'd like to get some packaged versions of the Toyotas some day just for show so I'll keep watching for them... at least until Coach lets us in on his secret suppliers.

Hmmm. My son and I each have all of the GTP cars, his are missing all their tail wings! I think we're going to have to build our next tracks with more padding if these things are suddenly becoming more collectible!

Coach, there's a big difference in the availability of the Toyota Tenoras body you bought yesterday and that of the Taka-Q and Denso bodies. The Tenoras comes standard with the 4-Way Split set found in stores all over. It's a great looking car.

Good luck with your auctions!

By the way, there's a Tomy Turbo Nissan GTP car up for auction (5999408155) now that's already bid up to around $38 including shipping, with over three days still to go. Should be interesting to see where that one ends up.

Anybody know if this could be the original chassis for this Tyco Taka-Q? The seller doesn't know. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6002223405&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D6002223405)

TK Solver, I can't see the link - but I don't think the chassis that's under any of these unpackaged GTP cars really matters at all. For some strange reason Tyco sometimes put really nice bodies on their hideous HP7 chassis. Easy swap out though.

I've been seeing a few of the Tyco Taka Q bodies on E-Bay, but for some reason none of them have windows. I don't bite on them because I figure the windows must be very hard to find or else they wouldn't be so affordable.

I'm always looking for GTPs, especially the Tomy EX Primus versions. I'd also like to get my hands on the Tomy featherlight turbo GTPs in the original packaging. I've seen them but the prices were way too high.

The guys I race with tell me they used to buy the Tomy Taka Q cars by the case - just for the magnets! The bodies were used as runners and I still them show up on a track every now and then, usually missing the wing. I run all my cars, but take greater care with the nicer ones. I use JL pullback bodies for anything that I need to flog the living snot out of.

The item number is 6002223405 if you want to take a look. This one has the windows and looks pretty nice. The current bid seems relatively low so I'm still watching and lurking.

By the way, there seem to be quite a few of the Tomy Toyota Minolta GTP cars up for auction lately. That's such a great looking car.

I also run the GTP cars. They look too nice to keep on the shelf. I've been swapping the winged bodies onto X-Traction chassis to reduce the chances of major crashes. To do that, I also need to swap in the front wheels, tires and axles from a pull-back or else the tires will rub. They look sharp flying around the track with the chrome wheels.

The more durable Porsche GTP bodies don't take to the X-Traction chassis as well due to the extra weight in the back.

The Taka Q came on an X2 chassis. The chassis pictured is an early 1980s curve hugger

The Tomy Toyota Minolta GTP suddenly started reappearing in both Turbo and SG+ configurations. I think the SG+ version is packaged for Australian distribution. Another "was hard to find" Tomy car that suddenly started appearing again about 6-8 months ago is the Peugeot 905 #45. The latest Tomy that's popped up is the Porsche 956 Shell #17 AFX (red/yellow). I've heard that there are container ship containers full of this stuff at ScaleAuto and they slowly peel back through the layers and you never know what's going to show up next. I'm hoping it's more GTPs and the Taka Q ones in particular.

For those looking to get a Toyota Denso, the bids aren't too high yet on this Toyota GTP threesome closing tonight... item 6001790257.

Happy Hobby does not have any in stock. I checked with them when I saw this listing. Apparently, they rarely update their web site.

The winning bid last night was $60 for the loose Tenora, Minolta and Denso Toyotas which was lower than I thought it would be. When you figure 3 SG+ chassis with body mount clips go for around $39, the 3 bodies went for just $21. The seller did note that the Denso had some glue residue on the wing mount. Maybe that scared some people away. A similar auction for the same three type of cars closed for $75 a couple weeks ago. I'm curious as to why sellers are grouping these cars together. Seems like they're limiting the pool of bidders to those with the cash to afford all three at once. If they auctioned each car separately, I think they'd wind up with a higher total overall.

Case in point: tonight, item 6001999266 - a single packaged Toyota Minolta - went for $45.

Here's a chance to "one-stop-shop" for Tomy GTP cars. Item number 6009891460 includes 6 cars in Japanese packaging. I never understand why sellers do this though. They're limiting their market to people who can afford to buy the whole lot all at once when they would surely bring in more if they auctioned each car individually.

Is that a Taka Q hiding in that toolbox. Hurry not much time left.
