hey do any of you knwo if you can dye rims with tires laready mounted on them
I have boiled tires to get them off the rims and it doesnt hurt the rubber it just takes a long time . An easier way is to put the glued lipdown into a tupperware bowl with accetone for about an hour this worked quite well for me.

Hey Dennis,

The Revo has been great right out of the box for me. Congrats, and good luck with it :) . I Have only put in the synthesised XXtra receiver and offset rims with proline bowties. Otherwise I haven't touched anything else. I like the stock ride hieght because the body roll seems to increase traction. I have started to notice once and awhile the truck will actually bottom out on some bumps/ruts, but I haven't tried changing the shock oil or springs yet. The truck has tumbled off the triple more times than I would like to count and I haven't broken anything yet (except for the collision with another large truck). Just drive smooth and consistent

I do plan on the FOC when that comes out and I purchased the close ratio 2 speed which I will probably install before the challenge. I am also considering putting in a single high speed high torque servo for steering and throttle/brake.

GOOD LUCK!! I'd like to check it out at the challenge.

no secret they were just a set of bow-ties and I dropped them in a pot of boiling water and tried tacking them off the rim every 10 minutes or so .

Shhhhh....don't tell them THAT secret ;) Robert!

Hey, you can do a homemade FOC on the Revo that just involves removing parts and zipti'ing two gears together. I know, it sounds like a hack but apparently it works great. Let me know if you're interested and I'll look for a link to send you.

You guys ought to consider taking a ride with us out to Marshalls this Sunday. Holiday the next day! Great track, great people. We went a few weeks ago and had a blast. They race 1/10 gas truck, TMaxx and 1/8th scale buggy, plus electric truck. 15 minute mains in 1/10th gas truck and 1/8th buggy! (but only 5 minutes in TMaxx :( )

Think about it! Let us know if you need more info.

Hey Gary,

Let me know where to find that article. I might be willing to try it since I will be opening the tranny to put in the close ratio gear set anyway.

I found the link to marshal's but could you give me an exact address and directions. I may try to make it there, but I get lost very easily so good directions may actually get me there (maybe?) :freak:
How long does it take to get there. It seems that registration closes at 11:30am.
The only hesitiation about going I have is my time crunch. I did just get the Ofna 9.5 pro kit and need some building time, tuning, and motor break-in time because it's already registered for the challenge. I just can't seem to get any time during the week to do any work. And I have been having to work alot of saturdays lately as well.

Thanks for the invite and I just might make it out there for some racing :) .

Robert - First link is to the RDLogics forum with a post on how to do the FOC. This one involved drilling the output shaft and installing a roll pin to hold the gear.

http://forum.rdracingproducts.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3987&PN=1

I tried to post a second link to a string of posts on a thread on SGrid talking about doing the conversion by just ziptie'ing the gears together, but I can't get the link to work. This was the technique I originally read about.

As to Marshall's, I'll PM you a number you can call me at for directions, etc. I'm guessing that it's a little over an hour from DR, but in your case it is probably better to either go into Pa on Rt 80, or go up 15 to 206 to Rt 84 and then into Pa that way.

I think I went through a servo, an engine mount, and whatever went wrong with my engine (I think the flywheel is slipping)...Thats more than I have had break since I bought the truck when it was first released!
