wayneny 05-11-2004, 11:42 PM Just so all you boneheads know. A vote was taken among mini-t drivers and they wanted to run on the oval. Till we get enough for two classes it will be decided by whichever class has more people signed up.Majority rules. In case anyone feels they can do a better job at this race directing thing they should step forward.

How did the Emaxx run with the tmaxxes (I realize it won), was it dominant, or was it just a matter of staying out of trouble?
Thanks,

Staying out of trouble. John Keys had the fastest truck by far, but got punted 2 or 3 times on the first lap.

We're going to look at it and compare it to the Tmaxx (I've never seen them side by side) and we'll decide if they're all going to be in the same class.

Actually, it was my understanding that the class was already decided. My understanding for offroad is that stock configuration Maxxes with up to midblock .21s were one class, evrything else was Unlimited MT. On the oval it was only small block stock config Maxxes.
As to the EMaxx speed, the guy driving it basically looked like he was just trying to get around. However, looking at the lap printouts, there are some atrange things on the lap times. The EMaxx had a lot of 29's, but he also had an 8.4, and a 21.5...hmmmm. Kevin showed a 15.7 and a 13.1 before he broke...hmmmm. Chris Smith ran a 106 and a 19.6...hmmm. Something isn't right here.

Looking closely at the results, the fastest lap I saw in 2wd truck mod offroad was a 22 second lap, I know that a Tmaxx can go atleast as fast as an electric truck, so I think a good number to go by is 22 seconds. Looks like we have 1 of 2 situations.
1) The trucks are jumping the track and not scoring full laps
2) The Loop is too long, trucks are counting on the other side of the pipe if they are too close to the front straights pipe.
Possible Fixes:
1) Higher Pipes
2) Enforce a 2 lap penalty for jumping the track and continuing on
3) Revaluate the track layout to accomodate the loop
4) Move the loop
Nick

The oval is small block only, that is clear.
I'll need to discuss the Off Road Tmaxx situation with the rest of the board to determine exactly what was decided upon.

Gary NJ 05-12-2004, 04:56 PM Not sure whassup. Actually, if you look at this pic http://www.dirtrunners.com/images/Work04/Progress_16_b.JPG you'll see where the loop ends is at a 'dead' section of the track with a buffer area next to the loop. It doesn't look like the loop should be triggered at that point by the truck then passing close by on a different part of thhe track. I'm also not sure about a shorting the course. If I look at 10th gas off road, the printout shows me having 11.9 and a 21.8 second laps within the race. I know I'm good, but not that good, and I also know I didn't short the course anywhere, so I think something else may be happening that is more random and spurious.
Houston, I think we have a problem here....you should also look at the 1/10th mod off road truck results, because they show Kucharski beating me by 6 seconds -- like he could ever do that!!;)

Yeah, you guys have a little better idea of the layout at this point than I do, but now I see what you're saying. I would still tend to think that a large number of the fast laps are from jumping the pipe. If you wind up in that infield near the loop, there is a good possibility that it may be counting there as well, we will apparently have to look into this Sunday and see if we can get this straightened out. I think some testing is in order, maybe I'll dig the loop up again to check the loop fix, perhaps the shrink wrap I used was not sufficient to insulate the soldered piece (I'll bring my heat gun, shrink wrap and some electrical tape to make sure that it is protected better than it is now. If it is a matter of random signals, first, we can try reinstalling the software, and if there still are problems, we may have to contact the manufacturer of the hardware and have them do some diagnostics. I guess we'll see this Sunday.
As for Mike beating you, thay really does give away that there is a problem! ;)

I think once everybody gets dialed in, the fastest mod electric trucks will be 2 - 3 seconds faster than the best Maxxes and 1/10th gas trucks. JMHO.

I did have a 7 cell pack in the truck. If thats not legal, I will run an 8 cell.
JK. I had my nice 6 cell 2400's with a 19 turn in there. Nick did comment on how well my 19s were running though. So I know how to build some HP, now only to get it to the ground and drive a good lap or 10.
