Yay! Loooks as tho the o.s. .18 is a DONE DEAL!! i'm definately getting it either Friday or Saturday. i even got a new manifold coming my way that will allow me to use my 1-piece pipe (i hope). the only part i need now is the stupid clutch nut adapter (i hope Ron got that part) and i should be ok! i also got a secret mini-t motor on the way - gonna test it out on tuesday at the track (weather permitting- of course) i hope its a little faster than the baja i am using now!

Rory - My advice would be the same I gave Tone below - the OS CVR 18. In your case, since you are already setup for side exhaust, it should be a dropin. Invest in the right pipe. With heavy trucks like a Maxx that need torque, there is no substitute for cubic inches...

If you've run the current OS long enough to wear out the piston and sleeve, you should probably also be thinking about a new rod and bearings. At that point you're up to the price of a new 18, and you've still only got a 15.

Gary
Not to burst anyone's bubble but I thought the rule was nothing larger than a .15 on the oval and anything larger than a .15 had to run open class

i dont think there is gonna be that much of a difference in the .18 to the trx2.5 anyways that i was runnin.... my trx 2.5 was blowin wayne down the srraight anyways..... its not that big of a deal, i dont think....

Dennis, u run offroad only, right??? i KNow the offroad rules are different than the Oval.... offroad is .15 (or .16 if you'r4e usin the shiatty megatech joint) and anything over .15 was open ( I THINK!!!) Nick, Wayne, Gary... what is the r00lz??

Dennis - The 2004 DR rules for MT on both the oval and offroad are small block only. The current generation of .18s (OS CVR, Sirio, Fantom, Wasp, Epic etc) are all considered small blocks at DirtRunners, as the crankcases and mounting bolt pattern are identical to .12s and .15s. The new mid block Picco .21s (and now Sirio's new mid block .23) use a crankcase that is larger than a small block, but smaller than a full size .21, hence the name mid block. The mid blocks use special motor mounts which allow them to fit in TMaxxes without modifications, unlike a full size .21. You can't use anything larger than a small block on the oval, and if you run larger than a small block offroad you go into the Unlimited MT class. The rules for both MT offroad and MT oval are on the Dirtrunners web site.

Some other tracks and organizations do classify small blocks as .15 and smaller, hence some of the confusion. There currently are no "national" rules for MT racing - ROAR doen't currently recognize MTs as a racing class, although they are looking to create a set of rules and establish the class for 2006.

Hey Dirtunners ! Do we need brushless motors in the mini T oval ? I think not. The mini T was suppose to be a fun class. I can see mod. but why have a motor set-up that cost more than the truck. If the brushless motor is allowed it will end up killing the class. I feel we should keep it to stock and mod only. If enough brushless motors show up then put them in their own class. That would also mean that we would get done racing at 10:00 pm You choose!!!

Tone, Gary and I are heading up to Marshall's in the morning rain or shine. If we get rained out we will do some shopping and hang out a while then come home. Hope to see you guys up there.

As far as motors go. Any small block is allowed in Monster Offroad and Monster Oval. Any Mid-Block or Big-Block you have to run Open Monster Offroad.

We will have lights for the next race, I am hoping that we will be done before we need them.

In the Mini-T Mod class, brushless motors are not legal. I told the guy he could run it rather than sending him home. We are a CLUB and are there to have a good time. Not turn people away. Sometimes the rules can be bent a little to accomodate a new racer. If anyone has a problem with that then they will have to speak to me.

Thats all for now..................WAYNE

Latest weather looks much better. The storm is moving further east than they earlier thought. Weather.com for Honesdale Pa now shows rain stopping early Sunday morning and it looks like sun in the afternoon. I spoke to Bill at Marshalls today and even though they had 4" of rain Thursday the track drained well and he said it would have been raceable today (Saturday). With much less rain tonite, we shouldn't have a problem. Like Wayne said, we're going.

Just remember - when it's sunny Sunday afternoon, you won't want to be home saying "I wish I was racing today..."

Tone, go to www.marshallshilltophobbies.com. On their site they have directions. But it just so happens that I know how to get there. Take rt.23 north till you get to rt.84, get on rt.84 west. You ride for a while and get off the exit that says Hawley. It also says something else on the sign but I can't remember the other name. Make a right at the end of the ramp. Take that road to the end. Make a left onto rt.6. That winds through some towns and such but stay on rt.6 for a ways. Watch for rt.652 on your right. Make a right onto 652 and go on 652 a few miles. On your right you will come to a large field with old and new farm tractors and equipment. The next driveway after that is it. There is a small sign for the hobbyshop there. Just follow the driveway in and you will come to the offroad track on your left. The next building is the hobbyshop and indoor track. Hope to see you guys up there ,,,,,,,,,,,,,WAYNE

A truckload of dirt has been ordered, and should be delivered this week for the off-road and oval. I also purchased some new gloves so no one else gets burned marshalling the gas cars. If something else needs to be purchased for the club, to make the racing better and safer let me know. Charlie

Looks like the MBX-5 Kit not the Prospec from the box.

Kit goes for around $500+ no motor, pipe or high torq servos
Prospec kit around $750+ no motor, pipe or high torq servos

Add it all up and you have a nice buggy for around a Grand+ or so, good luck

Wayne, Don't get your panties in a wad, I was just asking !!! --G--

Gary: Well if you consider racing in the dark, so dark you can barely see your car, don't even think about looking ahead of it racing then lets move your classes last in the program. :( So NO everyone did not get to race. Maybe when there are more then x heats EVERYONE runs 4 minutes OR do not run the B's (as the club never used to do anyway for this reason) OR run the gas LAST, or shuffle the order each week so everyone gets the late mains. hummmm

Nick: Now Nickie what are you trying to say son.

Jon: So you were HOME by 8:30 cool, my main didn't start until AFTER 8:30. Yes I really enjoy the track, been racing there for years(since you were a little pup). I really love being at any track and have spent many weekends racing (racing around the clock at times).

Charlie: A little confusion on the rules. You stated YOU won't run classes with less then 4 cars. THE RULES (as posted on the website) state you will combine those cars with other classes. It also states the RACERS can withdraw, it says nothing about the club deciding not to run the class? Now that seems to backup Garys' statement that EVERYONE gets to run, unless....

Gloves for gas, you are crazy NOT to wear a pair. I have since they started running.

Marshalling, YUP do not touch a turtled car when the wheels are turning, I just lift my hands and WAIT. The driver will get the point.

Well, as the website says and as I thought it was decided at the meeting, all small blocks are allowed, not mid-block .21's, so .18's are allowed.

From the Rules for Monster Truck OffRoad
"Motor: Small Block Engines Only (No Mid-Block 21’s Allowed)."
