As usual, the board ran a GREAT race.... thanks to all yall for makin the day really cool... WE NEED TO GET LIGHTS!!!!!! hands down... i've got a solution to the "headlight System" currently in place.... if we could find those halogen flood light joints on a stand, i'll donate the use of my generator to power said lights for the dark periods..... i'll look on the web a little later for said lights to get an idea of said light cost.... and to all of you mini-t oval racers that i "blew the doors off of" GET THEM DAMN XRAY M18 PINIONS!!! going THIS FAST is suuuuuuch a rush, i was SOOOOO SCARED..i had freakin BUTTERFLIES and stuff... i'll post a link to the Horizon Hobbies Part # a little later... i got mine at TECH TOYS, but i also understand Cruzin has them too.... i might have to takea ride up there to check that place out.... all you guys gotta get the speed fix!! -Tone Tone doe sthis mean were not going up to the barn next weekend, i really wanted to hit that huge jump and watch my francis die. nicwald 08-09-2004, 09:07 AM 175 entries...ok no new members for the rest of the year! Wow, that is a heck of a turn out, and we thought our 100 something day last year at the challenge was pretty good...Well, I hope this makes everyone see that pre-registering for the challenge is a good idea... So how many laps did you go in mini-T, Tone? Nick sean cant drive 08-09-2004, 10:08 AM Tone doe sthis mean were not going up to the barn next weekend, i really wanted to hit that huge jump and watch my francis die. the reason that we aren't going to the barn this week is that they wont be racing. they are all going to race somewhere in connecticut nicwald 08-09-2004, 11:21 AM Gary/Wayne/Whoever, Am I going to update the site this week? Thanks, Nick Hi Nick - Wayne's going to email you the results later today when he gets home from work and dumps the PC. It was a little dark ;) last nite when we finished.... We haven't done anything at all on doing a refresh on the website, so we could use your help to update the current one - thanks! Gary MixMastaMM 08-09-2004, 12:45 PM holy cow 175??? what time did you guys get done with everything? Mike eviltone 08-09-2004, 12:48 PM 175 entries...ok no new members for the rest of the year! So how many laps did you go in mini-T, Tone? Nickehh... i did 19.... but i fipped down the big hill which cost at least a lap - i was runnin 11-12 second laps - and i flipped comin out of turn 2 a few times - going high outa that turn is NOT advisable! i was geared 17/59 which was about ALL my Baja/raider could handle.... i tried 19/59 in practice, but it couldnt get up to speed.... and forget a big block with a 19tooth... it is slower than a raider w/ a 15tooth.... i still gotta get the handling down 100%.. but the adjustments i DID make made a WORLD of difference.... now i am wondering if i am taking this WAAAAY out of hand.... at least it hasnt cost a fortune - 8 bux for the pinions..... I see that ORL is now running the T-SPEC's, I picked one up as well, they look cool, I always liked spec racing. Nick Gary NJ 08-09-2004, 01:18 PM Is he on his new hours where he actually gets to sleep, or was it right to work for him? Nick Right to work....:( . I think everyone should buy Charlie and Wayne Big gifts for running this whole thing, especially since Mike and I aren't even at races anymore (Maybe that will change for me soon, how soon? Who knows). And the good thing is Mike gets back before the Challenge, so he'll be around to help out after then, hopefully I can find someemployment up that way and can get back to helping out, and racing! Nick Gary NJ 08-09-2004, 01:28 PM IMHO, I thought Samantha did an outstanding job announcing yesterday. She does a great job calling out the times and positions, which really helps when you're driving. Throwing her out there to start on the day when we blew away the old entry record didn't make it any easier for her. As she gets more familiar with our complicated structure (oval and offroad, some classes IFMAR, some heads up, different length qualifiers, no nitro in round 2 etc) and our racers, she will only get better. Its a real plus for DR having someone of her caliber, who also understands racing as a participant - she also 2nd place in UL Monster, BTW!! - on the mike. Besides, she's much more pleasant than the clowns who used to do it....:p Gary NJ 08-09-2004, 01:33 PM Rofl... i need an ENGINE for my Tmaxx... everyone is tellin me the o.s .18 is the way to go.. anyone got any other suggestions??? i guess approx 500 degrees on a trx 2.5 isnt healthy...... -Tone Nope - OS 18 would be what I'd be buying for mine... Only 500 degrees? -- the way the smoke was pouring off that motor, I thought the fins would have started to sag down. Its great to hear that we have someone else to help out with the announcing, plus that means a stellar pit spot, underneath all the foot stamping rc maniacs!  Thanks for helping out Samantha, even though I haven't been there, I really appreciate it, as I'm sure everyone else does as well. Nick jdwca 08-09-2004, 01:35 PM Jon, How did the touring racing go? I see that ORL is now running the T-SPEC's, I picked one up as well, they look cool, I always liked spec racing. Nick Hey, dude. The ORL went well for Team Surge. We had three guys out there and all three made the A again (A,B,C this time). I actually wasn't there. I was saving my pennies for the ROAR race at Jackson this weekend. It's gonna be *really* fun. (LOL...prolly the same size as DR's race yesterday.) BUT, for only three classes, that's nice. Yup, the ORL is running Specs. They're really cool. It's odd to watch the factory guys going like 10 miles per hour around the track with their T-Specs. It's a blast to watch though. Still, I think DR indoor should definitely look into running a class. They'd be great on a small oval/roadcourse like that. I was talking to Jeff Cuffs (who is Trinity's top stock guy) and I was like, "How does this thing actually handle if you put a fast motor in it?" and he was like, "Nothing for nothing, but it actually handles really well." So, yeah, it would be really cool to run indoors. BTW, you got PM. -jon Gary NJ 08-09-2004, 01:35 PM Well that at least is good to hear, but I guess Chris doing all the pitting shows, especially seeing how Tone layed the smack down (or so he's said) :p . BTW, you got PM. -jon Good to hear Jon! You got a PM, back! Definitely want to start a spec class indoors at Dirt Runners, the cars look good, and street specs are always a good race indoors. I just hope there will be some people interested who would want to run road course! But, time will tell. I think I should try a 7x1 in my T-Spec for touring mod oval Indoors, Good way to "Break" the car in! Nick eviltone 08-09-2004, 02:40 PM Trinity now makes a slipper clutch for the Mini-T www.TeamTrinity.com (http://www.teamtrinity.com/), it's red aluminum, ooohhhh, aaaahhhhh. I brought my violator and my brushless mini T. I would've ran the T but I felt I couldn't of controlled it. Also, when I was running it in the beginning, some kid ran into it full speed with his nitro truck and broke some suspension linkage and bent every turnbuckle on one side, he gave me new parts though. Maybe next time. On my 1/8 qualifier race after the first lap a clutch bearing seized. On the B main I won first place by a lap. As I was going past the finish line my car leaned out and sped right over the edge and rolled down the grass. There was no fuel left in the engine. Take every inside corner, even if it means you have to slow down. eviltone 08-09-2004, 02:45 PM Nope - OS 18 would be what I'd be buying for mine... Pops is gonna get him the engine (he already agreed) and i am sellin the rest of the car to the little bro for $200... and i am puttin it away for a nice 1/8th scale buggy i think... the cool thing about sellin it to the lil bro... i still get to drive it!! definately, its either the OS .18 or the Epic .18.... what fuel do you guys recommend to use with these NON-Traxxas engines??? Gary, i noticed you were runnin some Clear Liquid, what fuel is that??? -Tone eviltone 08-09-2004, 02:48 PM Well that at least is good to hear, but I guess Chris doing all the pitting shows, especially seeing how Tone layed the smack down (or so he's said) :p . Nick i thought you were rinnin that epic.... hmmmm the question is... do i wanna support Trinity - the makers of all evil things.... or O.S. the maker of all evil nitro things..... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... i'm just lookin fer somethin Psudo-indestructable.... that will take a little abuse since i am still learning how to tune the engines. -Tone eviltone 08-09-2004, 02:56 PM That was my first race ever. I was going to get the step pins, but the ones they make look a little small and might wear out. Oh well, if you raced them, they should be good. I just don't wan't to have to buy a new set after every race. Thanks for the Mini T parts, but I was running around the track when they had that practice in the middle of racing and the small ball joint piece broke off again and I lost the lower spring holder. I was going to run the 8 cell after I got some friction shocks, but it was too dark. I want to sell the losi ones and get the BRP ones. http://www.brpracing.com/500.html Gary NJ 08-09-2004, 03:19 PM i think if it was the stock head, it woulda been like 600 degrees.... that Nova R/C head that i got is ONE TOUGH HEAD!! no warpage, no issues w/ that heat! i am handing the Tmaxx of to my bro... its his truck now!! Ever walk into a hobby shop and see Epic 18 motor parts hanging on the wall....me neither. You know with an OS if you can't find a motor part locally (and u usually can) you can always get one in a couple of days from Tower. As "parts choice" questions go in RC, this one is pretty easy, especially with your requirements. nicwald 08-09-2004, 03:31 PM definately, its either the OS .18 or the Epic .18.... what fuel do you guys recommend to use with these NON-Traxxas engines??? Gary, i noticed you were runnin some Clear Liquid, what fuel is that??? -Tone Right now I'm running the Trinity Fuel with a high oil percentage (RTR fuel possibly) I'm not sure on the name of it though. I was also running the backyard basher fuel in my O/S which had a higher oil % than the blue thunder that I had been running preiviously. If you're looking for longevity, definitely go with something with a high Oil %. Nick nicwald 08-09-2004, 03:38 PM That was my first race ever. I brought my violator and my brushless mini T. Take every inside corner, even if it means you have to slow down. Sounds like a great outing for your first race! Sounds like you're already in the mix of things in 1/8th scale, just keep with it and make sure you're having fun, because thats what this is all about, if you're not having fun, then you're in the wrong hobby. I hope you felt like you were welcomed nicely enough, sometimes people get a bit intimidated by the "seasoned veterans" who sometimes forget what it is like to be new, but if you run into any problems or have any questions about anything, just about anyone will be willing to give you some advice and a hand. You can always ask Wayne of Charlie about anything Club related, they are good for getting you squared away. Glad to see we have some more new racers! Hope you enjoyed yourself! Nick motomotoman 08-09-2004, 05:35 PM I don't have my own username so I will post under my husband's name - What a great day of racing. I had alot of fun. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me. Special thanks to Wayne, Gary and Charlie. You guys made me feel very comfortable. I'll get the hang of it eventually. Just have to remember the setup for qualifying starts. As far as the Barn next weekend - Most of the guys are going to Connecticut for the R/C Car Action Race. The Barn will still be open but I am not sure on how many people will be there. I'll try to get a schedule of upcoming events from Lou and maybe then you guys can organize a road trip.
