sean cant drive 06-30-2004, 11:53 AM go for hudy they r supposto be really good for the same price
hudy lathes are great probably the best but they are way expensive. Used ones sell for like 160-200$ whereas i found a team cobra lathe with a diamod bit for 90$

In all honesty, you can get a cobra lathe to cut just as well as a hudy lathe, its all about getting everything aligned properly, setting the bit height, and cutting at the right speed, in the correct direction.
I will say this though, I had a cobra slot car comm lathe, and I've had far more head aches with that, than my hudy rc lathe...if you have the money, the hudy lathe is a good investment, but if you don't have the money the cobra can work as well.

jdwca 06-30-2004, 05:08 PM > We've run better....
I getcha. I guess anything but 1st and 2nd is a letdown for you guys in slots at the Nats. :dude:
Still ran well tho in the estimation of us lesser slot racing folks. ;)

I agree. You can get any lathe to cut well if it's dialed in properly but that's not always an easy process. The Hudy is just so true and precise in adjustments that right out of the box your comm is going to come out well. I've tried several lathes and Hudys are the ones I'm most impressed with.
As you guys know I've got a Trinity Tru-lathe3 and it works well but it took a lot of tweaking, etc. to get the cuts nice.

jdwca 06-30-2004, 05:19 PM John, thanks for the plug.
Folks, we're going to be getting our cells into the northern-NJ local hobby shops soon, so you won't have to wait until you see us at the race to pick up packs: preassembled or loose.
For some reason, we've gotten our cells everywhere else (Asia, Australia, Europe, CA, OH, TX, etc.) but not in our own stomping grounds. That's going to change.
We appreciate all your support. You guys are our local club and we always talk you guys up to all of our contacts!
For those guys who needs cells ASAP, please send me a personal e-mail at jwilliams@surgebatterymatching.com and I'll hook you up and send 'em out.

Actually, that is true. I spoke with Ron last week and he should have some more in stock soon. I should've been more specific: we're actually looking to get them at Zeppelin's and some other local places.

Yes, they're 3300 GP NiMhs.
The voltage of the prebuilts I have right now are 1.160 - 1.167s. Solid numbers. Those go for $47 per pack.
If you want something higher, say, Stage 3 or 4 (1.70 - 1.79) you're talking like $60+ per pack plus the $6 fee for building them.
Honestly, for up at Dirt Runners and other local club racing, you'll be very happy with the prebuilts we have.
-jon
craftmastaschiz 06-30-2004, 08:08 PM i think i will go for 3 of the 1.16 that r $47 a pack and do u think that i could use them that day

Well, I won't be up at the next Dirt Runners. You'll have to order them beforehand and I can ship 'em to ya.

eviltone 07-01-2004, 12:14 AM hudy lathe for 150 on stormer with bearing guidesHey... bearing guides are less than desirable..... theyh have a tendancy to get shavings and get clogged, so that they then vibrate and cause a unfavorable result (ie. Terrible Cut)
My Xipp lathe (Integy) has those damn bearings... i am looking into getting the solid v-blox for them, as the bearings in my lathe are ... well... SHOT......
so my advice to ANYONE... get the ones w/ the solid V blocks

Dennis - I think Wayne and I are going to go to DR tomorrow - Monday - and do some practicing, if you were intereseted. My plan is to get there early - around 9 - and beat the bashers and thunderstorms. I got an eigth scale buggy I want to try - if you come bring your Ofna! Gary

Sorry i didnt check sooner!! i got the Maxx all fixed today... between me and my bro, we replaced all the "bad" parts except the brake.... then, we were testing it, and it sheared the rear drive cvd (the cvd that goes from the tranny to the rear diff) totally ending all the fun.... i gotta call RD Logics and COMPLAIN!!! the goshdamn thing just EXPLODED, for NO reason..... Bitches!!
Oh, and BTW..... Mini-T is REPAIRED!

satrnfreak 07-05-2004, 01:40 PM ATTN all dirtrunners guys.
Looking to trade HYPERDRIVE ADRENALINE for a LEGENDS car. Yes, i have completely given up on 10th mod. I was looking at it last night when i was cleaning up my basement, and was just sick that it sat there all last year. So now i want to get something im gonna race. And since Spec and Legend use the same motors(which i have plenty of) i think that will be the other class i race. Also, i may be intereseted in Swapping my 12th scale for a Legend also(or sell it outright)...
So if you are interested, lemme know...

if you don't find a legend trade for you're hyperdrive adrenaline would you be interested in selling it?
satrnfreak 07-05-2004, 07:10 PM Ryan, yeah, but i figured someone might be interested in the trade. Up to you.
frEaK
satrnfreak 07-05-2004, 07:16 PM Ryan, i also have a Hyperdrive 500 dillon tweak car. Was gonna sell that too, or trade. I'll bring them next race and you can take a look at them. I am just not interested in running 10 mod this winter. Wanna run cheap classes(ie SPEC LEGENDS). Anyone else, i have 2 12L3 ovals i may be getting rid of also, one is my 24 car that KICKED ARSE last year, and the other is the one Little Ryan drove. He is moving away and i will no longer need it.....
FreAK
kybob 07-05-2004, 07:41 PM You got any street specs your looking to sell?
sean cant drive 07-05-2004, 08:11 PM hall, how much $$$ are you looking to get for those things. now that i think about it i am more interested in one of those 1/12 scales than the hyperdrive. it seems that some of the people at our pit table are more interested in 1/12 stock than1/10 scale so i will probably jump on the 1/12 bandwagon with the others.
