kybob 06-23-2004, 09:43 PM what kind of pipe is on that things anyways. satrnfreak 06-23-2004, 09:55 PM Supertrapp, there is a whole description of it on the for sale page. fREAk kybob 06-23-2004, 10:04 PM it said ct. Is it very loud eviltone 06-23-2004, 10:08 PM what scheme? the one i posted?yeah.. that one..... plus you stole my next color combo! -Tone John Tag 06-23-2004, 10:09 PM john tag i was wondering what weight shock oil u put in the bk2 shocks I would run 20 rear and 25 front, the way the track looked Sunday id say that would be good.Have you drove it yet? Just keep turning laps. rcnutzz 06-23-2004, 10:09 PM Hi everybody, I'm fixing my touring cars for sunday, some xxx-s advice that can help me Thanks Galo kybob 06-23-2004, 10:13 PM hall u have more mail eviltone 06-23-2004, 10:14 PM Well, there is certainly some validity to what you say, Tone. One comment is that we only have 4 classes this year that seem to consistently have enough entries to have A and B mains each week: electric mod buggy, electric mod truck, 1/10th gas offroad, and TMaxx offroad. For all the other classes qualifying is moot anyway - everyone goes to the A. When I spoke briefly about longer mains to Wayne and Charlie after the races Sunday, we were mostly talking about lengthening the mains and eliminating one qualifier. The idea was to give everyone the same track time they get now, just "redistribute" it for the nitro classes. In other words, maybe the second round of qualifiers would only be for the electric classes. Another thought, which I'm sure will make Wayne cringe, is to run one round of qualifying for everyone, and let the top 1 or 2 in any class that has a B main bump up to the A. We always run the B's as the first mains anyway, and if we made the A's for the 4 classes where we have As and Bs as the last A mains, there would be plenty of time for the electric B winners to change or repeak batteries for the A (and of course it is no problem for the nitro guys to bump up. Typically at the big nitro races, bump ups are used and it is not unheard of for a driver to bump up main after main, with only a few minutes between each race). As far as frequency conflicts, if you're bumping up it is on you to get to the computer and make sure you don't have a frequency conflict, and that you know what transponder you'll have in the A. This isn't rocket science, the AutoScore program we use accomodates bump ups, and they are commonly used in RC racing. At first the IFMAR starts for qualifying seemed strange, but now I think everyone agrees qualifying is much cleaner, and the closeness of the results, especially in electric buggy and truck show it. I guess my point is have 2 1/2 to 3 hour rounds of somewhat meaningless qualifying, just to give people a starting spot in a short main, doesn't seem to be as much fun as getting qualifying over quickly, and giving people a lot more time to race in the main -- which is what you're here for anyway. I hope others chime in and post opinions and ideas, because it seemed to me everyone was pretty stoked about the longer mains on Sunday. Huge props to Wayne and Charlie to be willing to try new ideas - not just in the racing formats like the longer mains last week, but in stuff like the Father's Day food and Fathers Racing Free - to bring new energy to our club. To me, the enthusiasm about our club, both at the track and on this BB, are tangible. I think it really FEELS like a club now, where we all share a common passion and have fun with it together. Gary out... Wow.. gary.. you bring up VERY good points.... that isnt a bad idea at all... but i guess it is open to discussion... seems realllllly interesting..... i wholeheartedly agree about the bump ups tho.... that would be a great idea to impliment anyways.... but yes... this does feel like a total club... a group of KNOWLEDGABLE people... who CARE ABOUT THEIR FUN TIME... -Tone eviltone 06-23-2004, 10:16 PM thank u all nick im not sure if i should take that as a good thing or a bad thing Happy Birthday Markoid.... i'd be scared of what Nick is giving you (probably a wedgie or something to that effect... mebbe some HOT LUNCH....) -Tone eviltone 06-23-2004, 10:18 PM Brownies? :D  :jest: Nick *cough*hashbrownies*cough* SCOOBY SNAX!! -Tone eviltone 06-23-2004, 10:24 PM Hi everybody, I'm fixing my touring cars for sunday, some xxx-s advice that can help me Thanks GaloGalo, i took my poor TC3 out today in the street, i got HPI rally tires on it, and it seems to have a loose ass end with super soft springs.... i dont know sedans from a hole in my arse tho.... altho, i was gettin some cool 4wd drifting action.... it looks good for me attending the race.... just do me a favor, dont blow any Shock Ends so that i put a hole in my hand again ;) hahahah -Tone rcnutzz 06-23-2004, 10:30 PM I fix that...... next race you should use your other hand .... Because we set the computer up last Sunday as one round of heats, the program didn't give us the option to save the results to an HTML file like it does with the results from the mains -- sorry! (I always enjoy looking at them after the race, too...) Gary no fathers day race results?, ever? eviltone 06-24-2004, 01:16 AM Wayne, Are you going to the track this weekend at all??? -Tone craftmastaschiz 06-24-2004, 08:36 AM hey tone i have the money for the gt7 if u found one..... if u did maybe i can get a ride to the track to try my buggy i havent really driven it yet craftmastaschiz 06-24-2004, 08:39 AM I would run 20 rear and 25 front, the way the track looked Sunday id say that would be good.Have you drove it yet? Just keep turning laps. ok so that is what u put in the shocks when u gave me the buggy..... i havent really driven it yet i ran it with a half dead battery and a 17 turn motor and it felt weird to run a buggy again but then i got home and i ran the 13 turn in it with the explorer 2 lol man that 13 turn is fast i cant wait to try it at the track i might go friday any one interestedin going wayneny 06-24-2004, 09:35 AM Tone, I will probably be there on sunday. Only if the weather is nice. Chris is working at Zeppelin that day so i will go down with him and go up to the track for some fun. Most likely around 11:00. Let me know if you want to meet and what time is good for you. I picked up a Raider motor for my Mini and should have it in by then. I am thinking about trying the 40 series bow ties on my truck. Just for something to do...........WAYNE wayneny 06-24-2004, 09:41 AM Ryan, because the computer was set up to only run one round we could'nt get it to put the results into a format that we could post on the website. I have been experimenting on how to do it in case we ever do this again. Sorry if this messes anyone up.......WAYNE sean cant drive 06-24-2004, 08:57 PM gallo, johnjohn, are you guys still interested in running 4wd offroad? i am planing on buying a 4wd in the near future if i know there is going to be a race for it. ricky and mark stern both have 4wd's and want to race them if i were to get one and either or both of you bring you're xxx-4's then we will have ourselves a race craftmastaschiz 06-24-2004, 09:08 PM gallo, johnjohn, are you guys still interested in running 4wd offroad? i am planing on buying a 4wd in the near future if i know there is going to be a race for it. ricky and mark stern both have 4wd's and want to race them if i were to get one and either or both of you bring you're xxx-4's then we will have ourselves a race and i might start racing it since i work more hours i can now afford a xxx4 craftmastaschiz 06-24-2004, 09:15 PM Tone, I will probably be there on sunday. The turnout *should be* huge! Guys are coming up from Virgina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, etc. As for set up for the XXX-S, check out the Losi site for outdoor setups for high-bite asphalt. For the TC3s we're all starting out with blue/silver springs (f/r), purples (f/r) (or double-purple fronts), sway bars (f/r), 5mm ride height, 30 weight oil. Just keep the car softly sprung compared to your indoor carpet setup. We'll be there bright and early at the Surge tent. You'll probably want to get there as close to 7:00 AM as possible as that's the only practice you'll get. The track isn't open on Saturday as of yet. They'll be prepping it with additive so we'll get plenty of bite. -jon jdwca 06-25-2004, 07:52 AM Gary, Wayne: my $.02 regarding Sundays. I'll be honest, I really enjoy getting adequate race time for my travels and $s spent on my truck (I'm over an hour and a half away). One heat and a main is pretty nonstandard. I realize that shortening the day is a priority at this point, but I guess I'm on the other side of the fence in that I rather stick around one hour longer so I can have a full day running, than get there run a race or two and then pack up. This past Sunday was fun in regards to the BBQ, but it definitely felt like I didn't get much time on the track. Maybe, like Gary said we could keep the classes with more action and who actually have an A&B main and *need* the two heats to qualify well (truck has had a C before) to the standard setup and allow any classes with only an A to be one heat and a main. I think the discussion is valid as I've heard members commenting that they would like to get out a little earlier on Sunday evenings. -jon dmitry88 06-25-2004, 10:28 AM what do you guys suggest.....A xxx-nt or a rc10gt or other looking for a 2wd drive gas craftmastaschiz 06-25-2004, 12:19 PM what do you guys suggest.....A xxx-nt or a rc10gt or other looking for a 2wd drive gas damity dont get gas, get electric electric can go so much faster and u dont have to tune the engines all the time i dont under stand y people think gas is better and u always have to buy gas man i hate gas dmitry88 06-25-2004, 12:26 PM because thats what I enjoy -Dmitry craftmastaschiz 06-25-2004, 01:01 PM Craig, I will be there most of the afternoon. Till about 5:00 or so. I have'nt heard from Tone yet...................WAYNE ok ill be able to make it.... will u have a generator? cause i only have 2 batteries now cause i dont like nicad so i dont use them any more so i only use nimh so i need to charge..... i will be there around 2:30 probably cause i have work craftmastaschiz 06-25-2004, 01:03 PM Tone, we would only do the one heat and longer main in Nitro classes. So far we have been having only one heat in those classes anyway so everyone is in the A main. If we do go to that format then the B main would be the same. I really like the idea. But it would have to be majority rules. We shall see...................WAYNE wait can we keep it the way it is i like racing 2 qualifing heat then the main cause if we have a problem in the first round then we can make up sor it in the second barnstormers has 3 quilifings then the main and that was fun lets just keep it the way it is its bad enough that we started the ifmar starts i liked it the other way so we raced against each other and not against the clock wayneny 06-25-2004, 02:09 PM To All, The change to one qualifier and a longer main would only apply to nitro classes. Electric classes would still run two qualifiers and a main. If we changed the nitro classes it isn't to make the day shorter. You still are running the same amount of time, it is just spread out differently. The second round of heats would be shorter because none of the nitro classes would run. The round of mains would be longer becauseof longer nitro mains. The time we would save is the time between the heats that are'nt running. It would'nt be a time saving change but a fun adding one.We will talk about it at the next race................WAYNE wayneny 06-25-2004, 02:16 PM Craig, I will bring my genny on sunday. As far as Barnstormers running 3 Heats. They can do that because they don't get anywhere near the amount of entries as us. In the Ifmar starts you are still running against the other people just spaced out.You still have to do good to make the A main. The racing has gotten so much tighter since we went to Ifmar set-up. It avoids the first turn pile-up. Think about it....................WAYNE craftmastaschiz 06-25-2004, 06:28 PM Craig, I will bring my genny on sunday. As far as Barnstormers running 3 Heats. Electric truck was early in the program. Now with 11:00AM starts he mentioned that you may not make the first heat, so we moved that class to the end of the round. Hope that helps you out. Gary, I put the new shafts in my MAXX this morning and reset the shift point. With the 40 series Bow Ties it rips around the yard great. I will see in the morning how they are on the track. Maybe I will be able to leave it set up this way and have the best of both worlds. But if it suffers on the track then I will have to change back. I have a rep to uphold. I also made a 10AMP discharger for my Mini T packs. I think that they are getting flat from never being discharged?????? Maybe I have to charge them at a higher rate??????? Talk to you soon...............WAYNE wayneny 06-26-2004, 10:26 AM Tone, make sure you bring your Mini-T with you to the track. I want to see how mine runs side by side with another one. It is hard to tell when you are on the track alone................WAYNE Gary NJ 06-26-2004, 10:55 AM what do you guys suggest.....A xxx-nt or a rc10gt or other looking for a 2wd drive gas Dmitry - Of course you should buy a gas truck!! As to which one, at a club level like ours, I think the decision is a push, and comes more down to whatever personal brand loyalty you may already have. John Keyes and Derrek have both run very well with GTs, and a bunch of us get around pretty good on any given week with NTs. The conventional wisdom on both trucks is: GT - Pros: Perceived to be stronger, a little simpler to work on (things like servos are a little more accessible). Cons: Generally thought to not jump and steer as well as the NT. NT - Pros: Plenty of steering and they jump flat. Con: Some people feel Losi composite is too brittle and breaks too easily. You will definately want to do something about the stock Losi battery box, which will break. There are solutions to prevent this. My son and I race a Losis, for a few reasons. First, there is pretty good commonality between NT and XXXT parts, which cuts down on spares I have to carry. More importantly, between Cruizin, Zeppelin and Critters, I can get almost any Losi part. And perhaps even more importantly, there is a lot of good setup info on the NT on the web, and a more active community of Losi users, so figuring out setups is easier IMO. I think which truck you get is less important than which motor you put in it. For our track, I recommend one of three choices: OS CV-12, OS CV-12 or OS CV-12. Get my drift here? The biggest thing is to not overpower your truck! Gas racing is all about trying to get traction, and learning throttle control. Unless your Adam Drake or Jared Tebo, or unless we replace our clay/sand surface, its all about getting the tires to hook up. Oh yeah, tires. Like the motor, the right tires are much more important than the choice of GT vs NT. Let me know if you want more completely objective ;) ;) opinions. And don't buy an electric truck, cause like Craig said, those guys all just crash into each other...:p vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2013, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
