View Full Version : Dirt Runners Outdoor Season 2004
nicwald 06-15-2004, 06:15 PM 5 minute mains sound good. thats a full 25% more racing, it will also give us more time to make up for those first turn pile ups.
Know what else helps? Stay out of those first lap pile ups, the first one to the first corner doesn't win guys, its who's leading at the end!
Nick
Gary NJ 06-15-2004, 06:23 PM the can and endbell i am planning on using with an epic arm are that of a yokomo pt which has the same arm as kr so the original comm was oversized, however it does have standup brushes so i don't think that it will wrap around too much.
Ryan - The PT and KR setups are NOT the same. The PT setup is made for an 7.5 mm diameter comm and standup brushes, while the KR setup is made for arms with a 9mm diameter and using laydown brushes. The older TI setup is the same as the PT, but with single mags. I don't know what the specs are on the Epic arm you have.

wayneny 06-15-2004, 06:36 PM Howdy gang, I am going to run 5 min. in all electric classes except Rustler Spec and Mini-T. Spec will stay at 4 min. and Mini-T is going to a whopping 7 min. All nitro classes will run 10 min. We will have the time that day so I figured that we would make it more fun. Nitro guys may have to make a pit stop and re-fuel. We shall see. I thought that seeing as how we are only running one round we could get creative. Don't forget that at the next race which is July 11th we will be starting at 11:00. That means that sign up will close at 10:15. Anybody that wants to pre register the week before is welcome to. Can't wait till Sunday. Till then.....................WAYNE

i always go slow and try to avoid crashes at the beginning of the race but now everyone else is usin the same strategy so there is still a lot of cars very close together in the first corner . and there is always someone way at the back who nails it off the line as if they are going to get the holeshot and winds up rear ending at least one car. my point is that you're occasional first turn pile up is inevidable.

i learn somethin every day with this stuff, i thought the pt and kr were the same except for the pt having standup brushes and the kr having laydowns. this arm i am getting is one i ordered from integy the description said "16x3 hand wound arm for epic." i got it on clearance for 11 bux so i figured if it doesn't work too well it isn't that big a deal. i am gonna say that i am 95% sure that it is meant for a p-94 though. and i have no clue what size comm it has.
craftmastaschiz 06-15-2004, 10:05 PM Nobody posted a reply about running the electrics longer than 4 minutes on sunday. I can understand spec not wanting to but I thought we might have some takers in other electric classes. Come on guys, it's only for one day. Lets be daring. What is the most that can happen? You might dump. But I doubt it. Let me know..............WAYNE
hey do u think that we could cange the rules for rustler spec about the 1500 cause i no that all the rustlers dump buy mid point and it just looses all of its fun since u dont even get like half a race in. like i am not going to be racing rustler any more cause my car along with other cars die before the end of the race
wayneny 06-15-2004, 11:17 PM Rob, is that you? Glad to see another member reeping the benefits.
Craig, the reason we have the 1500 batt rule is so that it is a cost efficient class that can be competetive. Maybe you are not charging your batteries all the way. Or something like that. Just a thought....................WAYNE
wayneny 06-15-2004, 11:19 PM Craig, what classes do you want me to sign you up in? I know mod truck, what about rustler?

MY Question about rustler Spec... what mods are Legal and what arent? i really think i wanna run Rustler spec, but all i got is a rustler with a bunch of CVD's and other miscellaneous crap...

There really isn't a lot you can do to the rustler for spec, you can run bearings alll the way around, you can run the RPM larger Hub Carriers (That use larger bearings) You can use adjustable turnbuckles, any electronics, 1500 mah sport pack and any tires. It is intended for almost box stock stucks to be competitive.
Nick
craftmastaschiz 06-16-2004, 09:37 AM in rustler u can use ball bearings, u can change the electronics, u can put the steel turnbuckles on and um well not that much..... and now i just found out that u can change the spring compound  i wish i new that when i raced that class
parma24 06-16-2004, 10:26 AM u can also put aluminum shock caps on
mark
wayneny 06-16-2004, 11:04 AM Tone, if you need power on sunday and can't bring your genny let me know. I have a small honda that I can bring for you that day. Or pit over at the tech tables and use the regular genny. It's all good.
I am surprised that more people don't run rustler spec class. It is cheap and looks like a lot of fun. It all comes down to driving and avoiding crashes.............WAYNE
wayneny 06-16-2004, 11:07 AM One other thing that everyone forgot to mention about rustler class. You can bribe the guy that sits in front of the computer. HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USPatriot 06-16-2004, 09:51 PM SuP guys, this form us awsome, really growing
I had to change my bk2 set up so much, i was getting completly no traction coming out of the truns, now i tried to set my car up to brian kinwalds set up for the back end, so i hope now i will hook up out of the turns, i faught with that thing the whole race.
Hallster, man thatnk you with the help, sux that it still needs so much more work, but man i have never ridden that thing so fast and hard before, it is so much faster. i guess the bearing had to be broken in, o mike that thing that holds tha caliper on, is defenitaly not the right one, the whole time i was riding it, the thing was clanking all around. so i hace to fine the right one, because i cant have the caliper moving al arund, so i will talk to you later
wayneny 06-16-2004, 10:30 PM Craig, I will put you in on Sunday. Remember to come hungry too.
Gary, I put the Sullivan tiger Drive units on both my OS engines. They come with their own one way bearing. You put a 7/32 allen wrench in a drill to crank them over. The best thing I have done in a long time. The whole thing is cheaper than buying a new One way. The drill cranks them faster than the pull start and for longer. On the RC10GT it faces out the back and on the TMAXX it faces the top. I can start both trucks with the bodies on. Way cool.............WAYNE
wayneny 06-16-2004, 10:33 PM Hallster, sorry your not going to be there sunday. Have a great time ripping up the trails down south. Will see you on the 11th of july...........WAYNE

Those Tiger Drives sure sounded good to me! I liked the fact that the unit was metal with decent bushings, and the gears looked good, too. Glad it works, and like you say, with the one-way included, the drive is basically free!! Is this a great country or what??
I also figured out why I was having so many problems with my one way not releasing on my Fantom. When I put the flywheel and clutch on the Fantom when it was new, I forgot a spacer washer between the flywheel and the shoulder on the crank. As a result, I had a lot of side to side play in the crank, and for some reason as the one way was trying to disengage, all that movement was keeping it from releasing. I pulled the whole motor down to clean and inspect it after the airfilter popped off last race (motor was fine - no damage) - but when I popped the flywheel off, I saw the washer wasn't there. Good bug, only 4 races to fix that one...now with my roto-start, startin's EZ. Still like that Tiger Drive, tho. It's all good. By August we ought to have it all figured out ;)
Gary

wanna not bet...... wait a lot of people were telling me that the food will be gone before the 2nd round cause ill make it by the 2nd round
wayneny 06-17-2004, 09:16 AM Craig, there is only one problem. There is no second round this sunday. There is only one round with longer races and then the food. There should be plenty of food. If not then we will get more. Nobody will leave hungry. what I will do is move Mod Truck down in the schedule for this race so that you will get to run. What time are you going to get there? Let me know...............WAYNE
wayneny 06-17-2004, 09:24 AM Gary, I probably will have all the bugs worked out just in time for outdoor season to end. Then have a new set of bugs when move indoors. It is constantly a work in progress. But Chris and I are having fun along the way. Thats all that matters. Why don't you run your TMAXX on the oval this week and have some real fun? You should try it without making any changes. I have mine set up even. Not jacked for the oval anymore since I ran offroad that one time. It does'nt seem to matter....................WAYNE
