In the meantime, you can look at them here: http://www.kosits.com/slotweb/Mains%2006-06-2004.htm Hello Galo. Mike C - Promatch Smart Tray is very good, and reasonably priced. I've been very happy with mine. See it at http://www.promatchracing.com, look under "battery maintenance" in the "products" section. And thanks again for the 'test drive' Sunday... Wayne - Did u get my PMs on the Unlimited Eng site? Gary ghuber 06-09-2004, 09:29 AM jon, Do you guys have anymore of those blowout pack for $30 that you did not sell last week? We only have one left. We will have more packs, but they will be pricer since they are the much more closely matched. Good thing is they will perform even better than the ones we sold last week. :) Regards, Gary F. Nick nicwald 06-09-2004, 09:45 AM Hey, kids. It's Jon Williams a.k.a. your friendly Surge rep. Long time--no post. Hey, Nicky. Good to see your posts. We've missed you the last couple of weeks. Thank God for your buddy, Mike. You know he keeps it interesting in the pits. :p -jon I think that is an understatement! :D  Nick kybob 06-09-2004, 09:53 AM ryan when u order tonight let me know cuz i need some things if you can order them for me. John Tag 06-09-2004, 12:01 PM Hey guys if your looking for great foward bite,Try the old trick, wipe tires with motor cleaner and old toothbrush, spin them on a allen wrench and lite them up. I ran pink tappers there last week in practice with this method and had great bite for a dry track. what lighting up the tires actually does is burn off the release agent all tires have and make them real stickey. kybob 06-09-2004, 12:05 PM Hey guys if your looking for great foward bite,Try the old trick, wipe tires with motor cleaner and old toothbrush, spin them on a allen wrench and lite them up. I ran pink tappers there last week in practice with this method and had great bite for a dry track. what lighting up the tires actually does is burn off the release agent all tires have and make them real stickey. I do that all the time with my street tires for bashing around on the street they get really stick and you can pull wheelies very easily John Tag 06-09-2004, 12:30 PM Prolines newer r3 compound seems to be the best compound for bite and tire wear, I tried holeshots r3 with that method and had soooo much bite i had a big on power push and actually pulled the front up. sean cant drive 06-09-2004, 01:19 PM ryan when u order tonight let me know cuz i need some things if you can order them for me. just post wat ya need eviltone 06-09-2004, 03:33 PM Why do you insist on putting other drivers down, and in a public forum no less, be thankful that others don't do it to you, because if I was there I'm sure there would be reason to knock you as well.....maybe you should edit your post and take out the specifics.....just a thought NickBLAH...... -Tone eviltone 06-09-2004, 03:35 PM thanks ery body i am finally 16 no i am going to be racing till i diewell... happy b-day 1 day late! -Tone kybob 06-09-2004, 03:36 PM ryan what site u ordering from? eviltone 06-09-2004, 03:43 PM http://www.kosits.com/slotweb/Mains%2006-06-2004.htm my t4 needs help. i did like 10 seconds better with craigs slow as anything xxxt when i raced it for him in the b-main mebbe we should slow our t4's down.... i need caster blocks for mine....rawr! -Tone eviltone 06-09-2004, 03:47 PM Hey guys if your looking for great foward bite,Try the old trick, wipe tires with motor cleaner and old toothbrush, spin them on a allen wrench and lite them up. I will have to say, looking at my results, Cheese, if i didnt hafve such a crappy first lap, i woulda been there for you. Look at our times, we are the only one's that ran sub 21 second laps, and all my laps were 21-23 except for my first(which freakin killed me). It was a good tight race looking at the finishing times and lap speeds. Hope we can duplicate this at my next race. GALO, buddy, glad to see you on here. More the merrier from dirtrunners. Personally buddy, it doesn't bother me that you had a brushless in your truck. I really dont think it should bother anyone, it is MODIFIED offroad, and if you want to run a brushless, i'd say go for it(but im not a track official). What happened? After the last race, i'd figure youd be kickin arse and taking names?? Well guys, i will be missing the next race, i will be in West Virginia riding supposedly the best ATV trails in this country. Its the HATFIELD/McCOY trail system, i'll let you all know about it at a later time, will have plenty of pics... fREaK nicwald 06-09-2004, 05:14 PM Hi to everyone, was a nice race, I will be ready with my truck for the next race, without brushless motor..................LOL You know, I didn't even realize it was Galo, I thought it was some ramdom person I hadn't met...You can keep running the brushless motor Galo, we're at a local level, and the track isn't considered a fast track, so there is no advantage to the efficiency (other than being able to use 1 battery for a whole day of racing). Nick kybob 06-09-2004, 05:26 PM hall did you also notice that i took fourth place nopt fifth place. wayneny 06-09-2004, 05:33 PM Gary, I got your pM but when I typed my reply it was to long and UE would'nt accept it. I will give you a ring this week. wayneny 06-09-2004, 05:41 PM Galo, you south american RC nut. Good to see you here in Hobbytalk land. Glad my talk helped out Jon and Gary move some product. I can't wait to gey my royalty check in the mail. HA HA HA I spoke to Ron at Cruzin R/C and he was very happy with sales on Sunday. Lets all remember to support the shops that support us. I will give you a ring this week. no problem. my pm was too long also - that's why i had to split it into 2 parts! craftmastaschiz 06-09-2004, 09:47 PM thaks tone craftmastaschiz 06-09-2004, 09:51 PM oh man i went to the track to day with damitri and just trying to get his maxx running made me more think about selling my gas car i really hate gas cars. it was a lot of fun though my truck with my new d6 ran preatty nice i would have to admit. all i need is the right geearing sean cant drive 06-09-2004, 11:01 PM Erik, are you gonna buy one of those discharge trays you showed me jdwca 06-10-2004, 08:09 AM Hey, Mike. Yeah, the end of that race was a lot of fun. It was like 2 seconds separating all of us at the end. Oh yeah, I felt the heat! I remember holding a couple of trucks off at the end and thinking, 'don't mess up!' Regarding the NiCad question, Mike already fielded that one properly. NiCads are to be stored differently since they have a memory unlike NiMHs. The only thing I would add is to still be careful not to leave them on the tray longer than Mike suggested. They have a tendency to reverse if left on too long. Next Sunday, we're going to have more preassembled, closely matched cells at $47 per pack (still an excellent price including $6 assembly fee). We'll also have some high-end stage3. -jon jdwca 06-10-2004, 08:12 AM Mike, regarding your D6, bring it over to the Surge table on Sunday before the race (make sure you have another motor ready just in case). We can cut the comm, clean up and align the hoods, put in the proper brushes, etc. It's possible that it could be so shot that it's arcing like a mother and causing excess electrical noise. -jon jdwca 06-10-2004, 08:13 AM Hey, Galo, you knuckle-head. It's Jon Williams. Glad to see you here. -jon jdwca 06-10-2004, 08:52 AM Sean, bring your T4 and motor over to our pit at the next race. Let me take a look at it. After much trial and error here's the setup I have right now. In practice I'm running low 21s comfortably. There's a lot more that all of us can get out of the truck for this track...just a matter of time and testing: Front: Silver springs Outer hole for shock mount Outer hole for suspension arm #1 piston (IMPORTANT! I'll explain...) 35 weight oil (to compensate for increased fluid transfer) 0 degrees toe-in (or 1 degree if your truck tends to wander down the long straight and coming into corners) 1 degree camber Arms level Rear Silver springs (green seems to be too light) Inner hole for shock mount Outer hole suspsension arm #1 piston 30 weight oil 1 degree camber Bones level Batteries rearward (2 foams forward, 1 foam back) Comments: regarding the change to the front end, with my limited dirt experience I already found that the T4 is very grabby coming off low speed transitional rough stuff using the stock setup. Giving the front arms less leverage over the shocks by standing them up has made the reactions to the track smoother--less grabby. Also to compensate and allow for greater absorption, I put in the #1 pistons. I brought the truck up to the track for a couple of runs and found it much more settled in the twisties. I'm very happy with it. Also, I cannot stress enough how important keeping the chassis balanced is. This affects the performance of the truck during the jumps, its poise in the twisties and its tendencies with bite. If you allow the rear to sag below bones level, then the weight transfer into the corners will make the truck push badly. If you allow the front shocks to droop below arms level, I find that the rear comes around very easily and the truck is unstable to drive on the long straight. Also, if the preload on the front shocks (thank you, Mike K., I agree 100% now) isn't properly set, the front will nose-dive off of jumps. So, basically, with the T4 run just what the manual suggests: bones level, arms level. Finally, I think we all need to experiment more with dressing the tires. Keep the info coming, guys. I'm new to the dirt and would like to try different ways to keep the tires sticky. -jon craftmastaschiz 06-10-2004, 10:25 AM my t4 needs help. i did like 10 seconds better with craigs slow as anything xxxt when i raced it for him in the b-main well my truck is faster and has alot more power now with my d6 craftmastaschiz 06-10-2004, 10:32 AM my truck will finally be a perfect racing truck as soon as i get new threaded shocks cause for some reason my shocks dont want to me on much of an angle they r really weird so i just to need to order new shocks sean cant drive 06-10-2004, 10:59 AM well my truck is faster and has alot more power now with my d6 i wasn't badmouthin you're truck. really it did a pretty good job and was easy to drive. it was just that at the time it had no horsepower at all sean cant drive 06-10-2004, 11:08 AM Sean, bring your T4 and motor over to our pit at the next race. I talked with you after the race last time, correct? As far as changing to a lighter oil, NO. That's a completely different animal--something you don't want to do. -jon USPatriot 06-10-2004, 12:36 PM Mike H - I sent the 6/6 to Nick yesterday, I guess he hasn't had a chance to post them to the DR website yet. You guys are doing great. Keep up the good work. I'm glad to see people sharing set-ups trying to make the racing closer. Everyone helping each other. That is what club racing is all about. Galo, you are welcome to run your brushless. Just like Nick posted on our track I don't think it is a big advantage. It's great to have Jon and Gary willing to help people with their motors. We as a club are really heading in the right direction. Thanks to all........................WAYNE vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
