Yes Dave I will bring the brushes.... shawnleary 05-25-2004, 11:21 PM I did go down for the 2nd qual and it ran faster. I think it was a 36/100, didn't have a 35 or I would have used that. that gave me a 3.76 rollout, with those brand new spec tires @3.3cm. I turned 7.2 for my best laps in the 2nd qual, I think with better tires and some more laps I will be closer to 7. davepull 05-25-2004, 11:22 PM swwwweeeeeeeeeeeetttttttt hey jermery I don't know how you made it this long!!! I think everybody will understand that your driveing has been suffering lately and you need to worry about that not why there C2 is only a 84 power lol shawnleary 05-25-2004, 11:25 PM congrats dave p for posting for the 1,000 time. davepull 05-25-2004, 11:27 PM Hey Phil what is a good starting rollout for 19t with a 90 pwer 23000 rpm C2 davepull 05-25-2004, 11:41 PM 1000 post wow i need a life davepull 05-25-2004, 11:47 PM well anyways Shawn I ran my C2 with a 2.20 tire 106 spur and 38 pinion that is a 2.57 roll out. I need just a bit more to keep up with Phil and Jerry I am going to start there with a little bigger tire and check the times. Shumacher 99 05-26-2004, 12:12 AM Sorry guys if this is too much of a hassle but I need time to work on both katelyn's and my car. Yes Dave I will bring the brushes.... It's cool Jeremy I was just being my silly self... Dave Shut up ya jackass. New92 05-26-2004, 12:14 AM What about a starting roll out for stock? Shumacher 99 05-26-2004, 12:14 AM congrats dave p for posting for the 1,000 time. Wow 1000 posts.hummmm It's only toy cars FOCKER!!!!!!!! David Butts 05-26-2004, 07:23 AM What about a starting roll out for stock?Eugene, With a medium to strong monster sofar the most consistantly good rollout is around a 2.20. Dave P. ran a little higher and Shannon Stevenson and myself ran a little lower. One of the benefits of knowing your rollout as opposed to actual gear ratio is it is a constant. In other words rollout has no effect on tire diameter but tire diameter has a huge effect on rollout. A small change in diameter causes a big change in rollout and thats why it's so important to know all the variables. Dont fall into the "well I'm running the same gear ratio as racer X" syndrome. Gears are just an end to a means and rollout is the final answer. Yike! did I just say all that before I had my first cup of coffee?:p xpss 05-26-2004, 07:44 AM Eugene, With a medium to strong monster sofar the most consistantly good rollout is around a 2.20. BIGDON Shumacher 99 05-26-2004, 02:05 PM yea that is slow, and you thought you would break the track record I did break the track record for missing the entry to turn 3 the most times......hehehehheheheheheh. we'll see how long lighting Dave P's time lasts.. It's early Shumacher 99 05-26-2004, 02:10 PM Oh and thanks Bear for the pep talk...... BIGDONBig Don it's good to hear from you again. Phil got on here and let us all know you were doing good right after your surgery. The sunday racing at Hw pretty much didnt pan out after it started warming up so you'll have to try and make a friday night when you feel up to it. See ya! rcgen 05-26-2004, 05:34 PM Is this Friday the first point series race? Don't know if I'll be able to make it this Friday. Got family over for my sister's wedding last week and this week is my anniversary. So things are still up in the air. Chris - looks like I'll be racing stock oval too. Next friday is the start of the next points series. irvan36mm 05-26-2004, 10:10 PM 1000 post wow i need a lifeMore like your own thread! lol How about this: "Local R/C action- according to Dave P"? lol j/k! You racing this Friday?? -George hurricaneracing 05-26-2004, 10:19 PM Hey guys while I am waiting for my super fast computer to download the new Roar rule book I have a question.....On the new 19 turns under the roar rule can you change the brush hoods.....I have heard of the pros using P94 hoods and brushes which would defently be a change Im a little confused...... davepull 05-26-2004, 10:19 PM Bear while your way works. that only tells yah how you stack up against other cars but what if they are slow cars. I use roll out to find out what the motor likes with the tire size. On my track record run I used the following a 36 pinion 106 spur and a 2.20 rear tire. that is a 2.34 rollout. now if I put new tires on which are 2.40 in size I would have to drop 3 teeth to equal the rollout. to make it simple as the tires change so does the gear. once you find the rollout that a motor likes you should change the gear to keep that rollout. rollout is pinion * tire dia * 3.14 divided by spur davepull 05-26-2004, 10:37 PM these are the oval rules 19T Modified Class Rules (Oval Racing only) 5-65: 19-turn modified oval motors shall be based upon any ROAR approved modified motor combination (arm and can) with an armature wound with 19 turns of 19 AWG round wire per pole. Components from different approved combinations may not be mixed. Quad magnet set-ups are permitted. Any brush type is allowed. Both drill-balanced and epoxy-balanced armatures are permitted. A maximum of 36 degrees of timing is allowed. 5-66: Armatures may be hand or machine wound, and must bear a mark or tab identifying the armature and winder. Example: NAME 19X1, NAME 19T. Marks may include etching or engraving on the armature stacks, and/or tags epoxied between the stack spacing and must be permanent, as to see any tampering. If it is found that these markings/tabs/tags are not legible, or tampered with, the armatures may be deemed illegal. 5-67: Commutator slots must be aligned with the center of the individual poles. 5-68: Suggested retail price for a complete motor shall not exceed $65. Armature may not exceed a suggest retail price of $30. Can and endbell combination may not exceed a suggested retail price of $30. It is my understanding that arcor rules do not allow p 94 brushes or laydowns. but the roar rule underlined above says that you can run the p 94 brushes but only if the motor is approved that way. meaning that you can't put p 94 brushes on a C2 or you can't put laydown brushes on a D5 can. I am looking into it more to come!! hurricaneracing 05-26-2004, 10:49 PM OK here is what I found 5-65 19-Turn modified oval motors shall be based upon any ROAR approved modified motor combination (arm and can) with an armature wound with 19 turns of 19-AWG wire per pole. Components from different combinations may not be mixed. Quad magnet set-ups are permitted Any brush type is allowed Both drill-balanced and epoxy-balanced armatures are permitted A maximum of 36 degrees of timing is allowed. So if any brush type is allowed can we change hoods. Not to try to complicate things but I think we need to decide for the next series so there is no confusion davepull 05-26-2004, 10:50 PM so far this is what I have found. it was posted buy Kenny B he is the roar oval guru. Now 19-turn....P94's were allowed due to the fact that we as ROAR miscommunicated with the racers. There was no "one" voice from ROAR discussing brushes with those drivers asking the question and not only adding insult to injury was the confusion with those replying on the difference between 19-turn mod for oval and 19-turn stock for the rest of ROAR and no formal website rule clarification. To resolve the issue early on the event, I called a 19-turn driver's meeting shortley after I arrived Friday (quals started Saturday) to discuss what everybody understood and interpreted the rules as. As a result, the P94's were allowed based upon the rule book as printed. All drivers were given a chance to react and further prepare for the race. Now I realize some just had setups of standard standup only...but again a clear interpreation of the rule book and no published rule clarifications on the ROAR website. so what he is saying is they allowed it for that race but have since changed the rule hurricaneracing 05-26-2004, 10:54 PM *%&*#^%&#^%*#*%(^#(^%(#@^ I think its a load but I guess we will decide what we want to do and do it....... davepull 05-26-2004, 11:44 PM I'll ask roar the question and post the answer. BullFrog 05-27-2004, 07:29 AM Off the cuff answer: you run the motor as it was manufacturered. By the way the ultrabird motor is not reconized by arcor as a legal motor. Although that has nothing to do with a ROAR question I thought I'd bring that up.The answer is why it's not legal in that organization is "it was never submitted for approval by Triniy". Basically if it's an adjustable 19 turn motor it is legal. But it's also not a cheat proof motor. You can use both however (fixed and adjustable) in racing. You can ask Kenny B what they were doing at the snowbirds. The fixed timing motor is the ONLY motor you can use in On-Road racing(Touring,1/12th).It is the same for Off-road- fixed timing. shawnleary 05-27-2004, 09:54 AM Does the ARCOR rules allow lay down brushes? The rule book seems to say not. Do ROAR rules trump ARCOR? I'm confused. Shumacher 99 05-27-2004, 10:07 AM Good Question Shawn Me Too?? Echeconnee 05-27-2004, 11:42 AM ARCOR does not allow lay down brushes in 19t shawnleary 05-27-2004, 12:44 PM 3. Brush’s and brush hoods will be STANDUP brushes only. "L" cut and/or timed brushes will not be allowed. Modifications to the brushes to imitate and/or act as a laydown brush will not be alllowed. Aren't the C2s laydown? parrott88 05-27-2004, 12:55 PM No laydown brushes on adjustable endbell motors. Laydown brushes on 24 degree locked timing only. Come'on guys you should'nt be changing the motor in any way. run it the way it was bought and you want have to worry if your cheating or not. IMO.... Changing the motor from the way it was bought is cheating BullFrog 05-27-2004, 01:07 PM Good Luck. Donnie_99 05-27-2004, 01:25 PM i agree go with a set of rules the ARCOR rules are the best i have seen on the 19t the roar rules are a joke. DEO RACING 05-27-2004, 01:28 PM Well said use arcor guide lines for 19t and roar for track rules RCThunder 05-27-2004, 01:36 PM The Ultra-Bird is not approved by Arcor though. Can I run this tomorrow if I come? Shumacher 99 05-27-2004, 02:46 PM [QUOTE=David Butts]In all seriousness. The C2 style motors up until last week were all that were supposed to be run in the points series races or any races run at HW but the racers voted to open it up to basically any 19t motor that meets roar/arcor rules so bring on those ultrabirds. We aint skeered of no epoxy. The next series starts next week so any 19t motor can be run and this friday night will be a great warmup event. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
