View Full Version : Hobby World-Jax,FL Official 2004 Thread (Ver 2.0)
Echeconnee 11-30-2004, 08:44 PM Yea running in a parking lot is for losers, who would drive 2 hours to run in a stinking parking lot, how degrading. Some of you guys really kill me, in case you haven't noticed, all of you race on an asphalt track, same stuff they make parking lots out of. And you can move the track around in the parking lot to get rid of the massive hole in turn 3. The parking lot's of this country is where it all got started and this is where the most exposure for our hobby takes place, not at some obscure permanant facility. I know this because I own one of those obscure facilities, been around 12 years and growth is slow because we are not in the public eye. We are going to start setting up in the parking lots again to get the hobby out there again, what idiots we must be. Of course we drove 6 hours to run in a parking lot in Orlando @ Race Rock so we must really look stupid now. Well stupid or not I had a great time racing with the guys from Jax and alot of other places in FL that were not to high falutin to go race in a parking lot. It's great to be a one track wonder beating the same guys every week but the real experience is getting out there and meeting all of the great people that participate in this hobby all over the country. To point out an example, we wanted to come down and race with you guys, hang out, BS, whatever, that we took off work on a Friday, bought a bunch of tires otherwise useless to us on concrete and made the 4 hour drive down to run on your asphalt (parking lot without lines). We knew the lighting wasn't that great, we knew that there were a few racers that weren't too great either, we also knew the traffic sucks in Jax but we came anyway. Then when we arrived we were amazed at the reception we recieved (no details, water under the bridge) and we were so flabberghasted by the welcome we recieved we left and went to Branford. Most idiots would have said srew those guys and never returned but nooooooooo, we came back for more. It's a good thing we did, we got our ever lovin butts(tm) kicked and we had a great time. I got to see a few guys I already knew from the old days on the concrete and I met a bunch of new friends as well, some that I had been talking on here with. We have been back a couple of times since and we are planning on spending a lot of Jan and Feb there. Down there on that big piece of asphalt. PLease don't take offence to this, it is not meant to anger anyone. I just think you guys should look at the bigger picture. See y'all Racing!
that sucks.if i know u you will come out and light the track on fire.dont forget some of the guys from daytona is comming up.
looks like my plans are changing so i will be there after all.

Hey Jerry there is no racing at HW this Friday, its going to be on Saturday December 3
Echeconnee 11-30-2004, 08:55 PM well get ready because we are definitely going to start it up in the spring, we are looking for a suitable location right now. Also we are getting the carpet from the 05 Snowbirds and we will be constructing a building to house an indoor carpet track for next winter.
davepull 11-30-2004, 08:58 PM Hey jerry no we race on saturdays now. racing starts at 2.
Cliff ok how about this then I am not going to drive 2 hours to race in a parking lot when I can drive 15 mins and race at a perminate track. also I don't care how long you blow off a parking lot you cant get it clean. I don't know if you were aware that touring cars have 2 bearings in them (tc3) and bearings don't like dirt. I have raced in 6 different states @ 13 different tracks not bad for a one track wonder, and one more thing Did you see me @ race rock???
i dont care where i race as long as the competion is there.superior hobbies will have some of the fastest touring guys around so there no knocking that.
one of these days we will all have to make a trip to cliffs track for all the times he comes to support us.
race rock was awesome.cant wait to go back
and jerry we are racing on saturdays from now till it warms back up.
track opens @ 9-10 regestration @1 racing at 2.

if there is anything left of it. last year that carpet was worn out. contact dan from big dog rc he has the carpet from FCCR (the church) and all the track pipe. tell him you'll give him 5 bills for it.
parrott88 11-30-2004, 09:05 PM I'll go to Cliffs track. I got to shake the one track wonder rep.
What one track is that... Been gone awhile I guess
FUN, FUN, FUN... OH WAIT... I just remembered how I ran at RPM. WORK,WORK,WORK
yea but that was thatdamn carpet. the heck with that shizzat.they need to wrap more speaker boxes with it.
davepull 11-30-2004, 09:06 PM Can you do the caps???
I have never ran them. but I can do the dew!!!!!!!!!!
rcgen 11-30-2004, 09:07 PM Cliff & Jerry check out the HW site http://www.angelfire.com/music5/g_ramos/home.html Shawn decided to go at some island in the pacific and George's been doing an excellent job keeping the new site updated. Just beware of all them pop ups LOL
Echeconnee 11-30-2004, 09:08 PM Well I managed to piss Focker off, sorry dude, that was not my intention. All tracks have dirt, even the squeaky clean concrete up here. I know about the bearings, got a NTC3 complete with fuel residue to attract even more dirt. I never called "you" a one track wonder so that just may be a guilt thing or something. And no, I did not see you @ Race Rock. I saw Butts, Lee Helander and Phillip Owens to name a few. If you were there and I missed seeing you and saying hello, I am sorry. I tried to meet everyone that whipped us that day which consisted of pretty much everybody, lol.
davepull 11-30-2004, 09:09 PM yea but that was thatdamn carpet. the heck with that shizzat.they need to wrap more speaker boxes with it.
Carpet is for racing on. concrete is for foundations, bridges etc. asphalt is for highways.
jerry I was just busting Cliffs ba!!!

Cliff I know what you were saying and understood your point. I was just bustin' yah
I didn't make it to racerock I was up in Massachusetts on vacation and racing at the famed K&N. check it out @ www.knrcspeedway.com (http://www.knrcspeedway.com)
rcgen 11-30-2004, 09:13 PM If the J'ville gand ever get together to go Cliff's track let me. I've been wanting to go there. That way I can show FOCKER how to drive on concrete. LOL
Echeconnee 11-30-2004, 09:14 PM the carpet for the birds this year will be in way better shape when it's all said and done. Mike and crew are building a sub floor this year instead of just laying down some plywood. Also they are using the new Rubber Backed carpet from CRC. And the oval and onroad tracks will not share the same high speed corners this year so when it's all over we will have a pre seasoned piece of carpet for us to race on. That's my theory anyway........
Echeconnee 11-30-2004, 09:16 PM I know Dave, no biggie. K&N has an awesome facility, I bet you had fun!
parrott88 11-30-2004, 09:17 PM COOL... Looks good.
Echeconnee 11-30-2004, 09:19 PM Well a good time to get us all together up here will be Memorial weekend 05 as we will be once again hosting the Southern 500 Nationals. We had a great time last year and look to have an even bigger turn out this year. There will be stock 6.5 break out, open stock and 19t. And the weekend would not be complete without the 100 lap enduro race. So make your plans now to attend.

i hope so. the CRC carpet was used this year @ Cleveland. I heard that when it was over the carpet was in pretty good shape. I'll drive to Macon the Bacon Georgia to race on carpet.
Eugene thanks for the offer but if anybody is going to show me how to drive it is going to be that little ompa lumpa guy Chris Garfield.
Shumacher 99 11-30-2004, 09:21 PM that sucks.if i know u you will come out and light the track on fire.dont forget some of the guys from daytona is comming up.

Cliff's track is awesome.. If you JAX. guys ever do decide to go up, Let me know... It would be worth the drive to hear you guys bouncing off the walls..
PINNGGGGG
rcgen 11-30-2004, 09:29 PM Actually I have more experience racing on caps instead of these foaming things. First started racing caps at the old arlington track when it was first built and some other track in Orlando cant remember the name though
davepull 11-30-2004, 09:29 PM I know Dave, no biggie. K&N has an awesome facility, I bet you had fun!
it is a very mentally demanding track. so if your a guy with a little brain (xpss) don't even try to run there. I was a .10th off laptime wise and was in the B. but i refuse to change my setup. Those guys all run tweek screws and a single damping tube they all run Taurus', monte ss' and intrepids. I had the HD monte which just planted the car so much that I was don to 18 D/R. lol but it was a blast to run on the track were it all started again. That is were a 14 year old Focker first put a car down to race. man I love that place.
Fl Flash 11-30-2004, 09:29 PM Davepull,

BullFrog 12-01-2004, 08:20 AM DaveP- getting a little dirt in the bearings and there is no dirt at HW.Racing in the parking lot- alot of big races are held there. The same could be said for dining halls at hotels.Look at the birds surface last year for the off-road mains ( at least that's what all of you were complaining about).
These parking lots(Florida) have produced some very good drivers in the last few years of racing. That's of course if you have been reading the magazines the last few years.
I could say plenty more but what good would it do- You just don't show up for the big races. We've got drivers saying they are coming from NC and one from Virgina to this parking lot race. Besides that you get to go to a REAL Hobby Shop at Superior Hobbies. I can say you won't find that type of hobby shop at every parking lot race !
Echeconnee 12-01-2004, 08:42 AM The website is attractive and informative, everything you need and no BS! Good Job!
irvan36mm 12-01-2004, 08:53 AM The website is attractive and informative, everything you need and no BS! Good Job!Cliff- Thank you very much for the kudos! Coming from a track owner, such as yourself, that means a whole lot! I need to construct a link to your track on our site.
See you all here,soon!
