It was great to see David Butts and others back at the track racing again. Hope this will be a regular thing. It was great to get finished by 11:30 by not having a break between the first and second qualifiers. It seams to me that the extended breaks is the cause of our late nights more so than drivers showing up late for their race or for turn marshal duties, because we repeatedly had drivers(including me) showing up late, but we still finished early. It would be great if we lived in a perfect world and everybody showed up on time, that is not going to happen.

I vote for no break between first and second qualifies.

On a second note. The volume of the speaker really needs to be turned down to 1/10 of what it is. I saw several spectators holding their hands over their ears,(including me) and some even left early because of noise.

This sucks! Its only Monday, and I'm ready to go racin again!!!

As for the PA,after you asked me about the volume level, I tried to turn it down but the PA vol controls wouldn't cooperate. That PA head is kinda old & the controls (or "pots",as they're called) need to be cleaned out good with contact cleaner. If I get there Fri at a decent time,I'll volunteer to do it since I've got the stuff to do it with. (motor cleaner won't work) And if that doesn't work,I do have a small Peavey PA head in storage (from my "rock star" days!) I can bring out next week.

Sincere apologies to anyone with ringing ears from Sat night! It's never a good thing to blast anybody away from the track with the PA. Good thing I don't bring my guitar & amp to the track. I could have that whole neighborhood cleared & leveled in less than 15 minutes!!! LOL

this is a little something that I found. I hear alot of people always asking me the same question what gear are you running. since I started back into Oval I have always said you need to be asking me what rollout. roll out is pinion x tire sizex 3.14 divided by spur gear = roll out.

Don't be fooled by chasing RPM or torque...you need both. Watts, (electrical horsepower) is what actually does "the work" in moving the car...the more watts, the more force you have to move your car.

With the introduction of the more "RPM-ish" stocks, rollout is CRITICAL. Most of the time it is overlooked. When I hear people discuss what gear to run instead of what rollout, it is evident that it would be easy for them to be way off in either direction and never know it. One pinion tooth can change as much as 10 points of rollout, depending on tire size, spur, etc. When we search for a rollout, we literally will true tires, change spurs, etc. to alter our rollout 1-2 points, which is like 1/10th of a 1 tooth change of a 64 pitch pinion. So basically, when we're moving our rollout 1 point at a time to find the sweet spot, doing nothing but changing a pinion gear 1 tooth is like making a 10 point jump in rollout, which is HUGE.

I hope that shed some light on it...

No Breaks....what are you all talking about? What about the guys (me) who races multiple classes, crew chief son's car, breaks a t-plate at least once a night, run back to back heats....its more pressure now with the breaks....hmm get home early before midnight...I like the idea...I gotta to try it at least once and I'll let you know...

Is it Friday yet? Haven't raced in three weeks..... :(

If I wanted to use a multimeter to check for a dead cell....what settings do I use? I have the little digital one from Sears.....I know to put it on DC but there are 4 or 5 settings on there (from what I can remember) which one do i use?

Any cell under 1.2 volts should be the weaker one of the bunch. The cell really close to 0v will be the dead one!
