With all these daytime post'ers it makes me wonder if anyone works.??? Me? I'm on vacation. I did though actually touch my L4 yesterday. Took the body off and looked at it for a minute then put it right back on. It's ready for RPM now. All this car preparation is getting old. :p Yikes I painted a new body before the birds in february and I need this one to last until the new bodies come out. Have'nt won a new one in the raffle since I have'nt been at the track so that alone gives me a reason to go back to hw. ?????????

Protoform is supposedly working on a whole line of updated oval bodies. Maybe we'll get a 2004 chevy before the 05's come into fashion.

I'm not sure which class I want to run. It sounds like both classes run about the same, but there has to be differences.

I know from my Spec experience that lap times change over a 4 minute run as the battery runs out. Does a 4 cell Stock also slow down or do the 3000+ cells give relatively constant voltage throughout the run?

Since the 4-cell car is 4 oz lighter, does that make it handle better?

Does anyone have the lap times handy? What's the lap times for 1st lap and last lap in 4 cell Stock? How many laps do they run in 4 minutes?

If you run 32 you are donig very well.Noone has run 33 laps yet. If you have a goos 4 cell 3300 GP atleast 1.16 at 30 then you will not see a drop off. The record for a single lap is 7.1 the record for spec is 6.8 I think. But like you say the 1600 drops off the 3300 don't so they run about the same. Tom was on pace to run a 33 4:05 in 4 cell stock a couple weeks ago before a late crash I think that's faster then the spec record. So they are close. I like 4 cell stock because everything is just top of the line .Tires, Motors, Batteries etc. and the stuff last longer. Spec is cheap and is well um Spec. That last one was for Shawn ...lol

That's what I was hoping. I'm getting tired of the hassles of NiCd batteries. I think I'll put one of my stock motors in the L4 and get a 4 cell B&T pack tomorrow after work.

I'll probably have a week to get it all together, because this weekend looks like a rainout with the hurricane one-two punch coming at us.

Does anyone have the lap times handy? What's the lap times for 1st lap and last lap in 4 cell Stock? How many laps do they run in 4 minutes?Bryan- Constant or consistent voltage? You would have to take a 3300 pack & a 1600 Spec pack and graph them out w/a Turbo 30/35/GFX to really find out.
But I do know this:a 3300 pack will not drop-off like a ton of bricks like a 1600 Spec pack would. I would think the 3300 would sustain the volts throughout a race better than the 1600's because of the capacity difference between the two.

OK-Lap times! Let's take the best times by a couple of fast guys from Racenight #5 & compare from Lap 2 (the cars won't be up to speed on Lap 1 because it's not a complete lap) to their last lap:
4 CELL STOCK:
31/4:01.26 CHRIS GARLAND (2ND QUAL)
2ND LAP:7.4 sec
LAST LAP (31): 7.8 sec
FASTEST LAP: 7.4 sec (Laps 2,3)
SLOWEST LAP: 8.0 (Laps 28,29)
AVERAGE LAP TIME: 7.780 sec

PRO-SPEC:
32/4:03.89 STEVEN PEDANO (2ND QUAL)
2ND LAP: 7.3 sec
LAST LAP (32): 7.6 sec
FASTEST LAP: 7.2 sec (Lap 8)
SLOWEST LAP: 7.8 sec (Lap 30)
AVERAGE LAP TIME: 7.618 sec

Naaah! Not too much difference! lol Both classes (even 19t!) have been having very close racing lately w/near-dramatic finishes. Pick a class & go with it!

How many Breakout racers?

I'll guesstimate that there will be 15+ stockers, 15+ Pro-Spec, and almost that in 19t. Now the breakout class? Not sure. Are we strongly suggesting only beginners run in the class??? Or is it open to anyone who wants to run 8.2 laps all night ;)

It looks like there's not much difference between Stock and Spec, other than battery maintenance issues (NiCd vs NiMh). Other than that, its just personal choice. I think I'm going to set up my car for stock and run it in the breakout class for a couple weeks.

EITHER CLASS YOU'LL HAVE A BLAST. IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING AT OTHER TRACKS YOU'LL FIND THEY ALL HAVE STOCK CLASSES AND WILL BE LESS WORK WHEN YOUGO. NOT EVERYONE RACES PRO SPEC SO THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO TRANSFER TO STOCK OR 19 TURN FOR SOME OF THESE BIG RACES. sO GOOD CHOICE IF ANY OF THAT MATTERS.

Bryan, Believe me when you get two or more cars in a group on the track where the only deciding factor on who wins is the line they are cutting it'll be hard for you to go to sleep. Oval practice on the other hand can be booorrrrriiiinnngg. Thats why I dont do it. I do enjoy road course too so I wont say that oval is better or worse but it can be very exciting when coming off turn four three wide on the last lap and no one knows who's gonna get to the line first. weeee haaw!

Yea normally, lol. I dont start seeing kids until Monday though....been testing and scheduling this week. Computer has not worked in my room until yesterday afternoon so I am "catching up" lol. How is the new house working? I have been so excited about this Friday night that I can barely wait....now I might have to fight rain....oh well.

I am just hoping I am not in the way on the oval side. I am going out with Chris a few nights to figure out how to tune these things then I will probably just run a pack when I go TC practicing.....both are fun I know I just dont have a clue about how to do anything in oval lol.

The new digs are great. I like the place and the neighborhood better than I thought I would. About the oval setup? Just copy the master. Chris, He copied the master, Dave P., and he copied the master, Me, And I just took the book setup Now who's the master? Well I did work on a fishing boat one time but thats a whole nother story alltogether.

-CHRIS G.A lot less work, too! To convert a Pro-Spec car to 4-cell,you would have to re-tweak the car,put on different springs, motor & tires, unbolt the battery cups, etc. Then ya gotta do it again in reverse when you go back to race Pro-Spec @ HW!

I hope all the Jacksonville racers are safe and no one got hurt in todays Tornado'sYeah, same here! Bad thing is that one of our t-shirt suppliers is 2 blocks from that intersection at Edgewood. BTW,I finally got to see a tornado today when going over the Dames Point bridge around 4:30-ish. As soon as it was announced about a touchdown around the Fernandina area,I looked over the horizon & saw it. It was a small one & it didn't look anything like the big black Midwest ones on TLC,Discovery Channel or the Weather Channel. Just a white churning cloud.

Ok, I got a track question.....I am mainly concerned about touring but this side gets more traffic lol.

Is the track considered a smooth one or bumpy? I know there are a few ripples but I would think something more along the lines of a parking lot track would eb the bumpy tracks that people talk about.

I was just curious as to some setup options differ by whether the track is smooth or bumpy....I know its not carpet but I would think its pretty smooth right? I just dont have anything to compare it to in my limited experiences.
