I REALLY, REALLY hate to see you make that decision Butts (TM) as I said many times that you were one of the main reasons I really fell in love with this hobby. As far as the statements Ted made, I dont have any problems at all with him putting his perspective in on this thread. I just didnt see a point in starting a whole new public thread to tell everyone he thought HobbyWorld stunk. He could have just gone about it differently.

Again, I really hat to see you make that decision, or anyone for that matter. Like everyone has said though, Its a bunch of toy cars. Can't take it too seriously.

Sorry to hear that both of you guys are going to give up such a great hobby over this. It must have been a pretty serious incident. Butts(tm) is there any solution to this that you can suggest? You've been an intergral part in getting people to have fun at HW and I for one have appreciated your company/competition. I hope this decision isn't permanent.

it never fails once we get things going good on friday something always seems to knock us back.guys nobody is perfect but we lose it on the drivers stand.but it needs stay on the drivers stand.john i hope u dont sell all your stuff,i for one have been in your shoes and run the races and i know thats the hardest job out there.dave butts i know u also have run the races and it wasnt always smooth either.as i said nobodys perfect.i sure hope everyone will come back and race this friday night that was involved and we can laugh at all this friday.just my .02 bear

Are you guys reading the samething I am reading? John is selling his trailer and is out. Butts (tm) will not be racing at hw. It looks like John is the one not racing anymore and Butts (tm) will be racing but not at HW. You guys need to realize this is an hobby well for me anyway, LOL. I got tired of trying to teach my sons how to fish. So now we race...Our competive nature will always take over and we need to go back and look what has happen learn from it and move on. This is basicly a tape recording of what actually happened along with the "thats it, Come on lets go" I've stayed quiet until now but as a close witness to the whole exchange of words and actions from both parties involved. I'ts doubly bad that a newcomer Ted says his say and then he's told to stay out of it. ?? People, This guy apparently had a better view of it then I and I was only four feet away. Ted, Thanks for your view on this ridiculous turn of events that happened at a place I have had many good times over the last almost twenty years.


Here it is in print. I, David Butts will no longer race, participate, or be any part of racing at Hobby World. If it had not been for John Pilgrims intervention there's no telling what may have happened and for that I salute mr. Pilgrim. Everyone that was within earshot of the computer area saw what really happened including our guests from Macon and one of them was an 8 year old boy. Hmmm? The truth cant be made up
ok guys bottom line yah I told John to shut up but only after he said alot of crap to me. does that give him the right to physically threaten me? I don't care who it it you just don't do that.

one more thing guys we had someone new to the area show up and tell us what he saw and tell us he didn't like it and you guys all tell him to mind his own business. but if he said that he liked it you would have welcomed him! that is BS. the guy came twice two weeks in a row and didn't like what he saw. how many more people are there like him????

Dave, I really like you as a person and hope that we can stay friends and all. But dont turn this into a campaign against HobbyWorld now. You dont want to go anymore, fine. i agree with new 92 dont bash hw.i for one like no having to drive far to run a club race.i have done it probally more than anybody,so if your gonna do good luck and have fun.but the hw crowd needs to put this behind us.if u dont wanna race no more at hw then fine,but dont bash it lets try and fix it.

Hopefully time heals all wounds. I agree w/ Bear & everyone else in putting this incident behind us & getting back to the racing. I'm sure Harvick & Kenseth put their Pocono run-in behind them (kinda!). They have to because they have to look at the "Big Picture" (sponsors,championship,etc). Maybe,we should all look at our "Big Picture",too! (having fun,getting more people into r/c,etc)

Remember: It's only a hobby-we're not getting paid for racing r/c cars @ HW like the NASCAR teams race their multi million $ cars. If anything,we're spending $$ to have some fun every Friday night!

Ok my turn .... You guys are kinda funny listen to you im an outsider lookin in and have heard all the stories... yet now is the first time ive posted in here in i dont know how long... This is number one guys JOHN HART IS NOT A HOBBY WORLD EMPLOYEE.. he comes here to have fun with you guys and run the races and invites people out to race.. When everyone whined about goin to sunday racing and we did people showed up the first lil while but not lately he has been down many occasions driving an hour and a half so you guys would have someplace to race... Second i dont doubt what went on was wrong on BOTH parties but damn man why is it everyone wants to stop racing because of this my views on the whole thing is that we should sit these two down in a room and make em kiss for 8 hours strait and see how they come out... another thing about getting out so late its alot of guys fault not just the race directors if im not mistaken there are numerous people that call the races not just john... turn marshalls minute graces everything comes into it .. this is a club race guys EVERYONE is meant to have fun and race... if your not having fun anymore maybe you should try another hobby i mean i did just because of all this crap .... anyway guys we need to do something to try and remedy this.. you guys dont really know what goes on inside the shop or away from it i keep in contact with just about everyone here that knows me well from dave p to buttsey to hart ... ive heard about enough of this petty crap if you have any questions feel free to call me at the shop here the numbers in the book and i will try and work things out the best i can

those of you that witnessed the incident saw what happened so if running up and getting in face shaking your fists saying "come on" isn't trying to provoke a fight then what is it?
if this had happened between 2 racers then the aggressive one would have been gone. but because it is John and he brings a transponder system it can be worked out????
i don't like nor am I proud of what happened all I know is I did not approuch John in anyway about a racing matter. he confronted me with a stop running your f>>>>> mouth. arrguements happen but this was taken to the point where someone could have gotten hurt or gone to jail.

some of you think that this isn't a big deal. think of it this way how would you have reacted? some of you have told me it would have been much differnet.

this isn't the first time I have witnessed a temper flare up like this from him and I am not bashing the track or you guys just making the choice not to be around people like that.

just want to take the time to say race # 3 of the focar (florida oval series) is july 24th saturday at RPM speedway. it's a one day race inside on the rug. i hope to see some of you guys make it down? he he he he sorry i couldn't resist a shameless plug...


i have found these things over time heal up pretty well..use me as an example. i have been on the other end of daves attacks as well as johns..now i think we stand on some even ground.neither john or dave will ever be my best friend but at least we have some respect for each other now..respect is a 2 way street and when you get no respect youtend to hit parked cars...

the fallout of all of this is losing david butts and some new racers. to be honest losing john and dave for awhile is bad..but losing butts is horrible! and i can tell you from experience that hobbyworld not owning there own scoring system after 20 years of racing outback is not good either. you guys will always be at the mercy of john..what if he gets sick? truck breaks down? anything for that matter... and to be realy honest nomatter who's fault it was..both drivers would be asked to leave for at least 30 days and be on probation for 60 days there after..you cannot allow youngsters to hear foul language and mothers and fathers dont wanna hear it either..let david butts run the scoring for 30 days john..kick both of you guys out of hobby world for 30 days..after 30 days i'm willing to bet you both will have calmed down? both being you and dave P ...

again i'm not even within 10% of being perfect,lol. but i do know that any kind of didsaster that happened friday night would get you 30 days away from said track. both parties involved..if after 30 days you 2 dont get this straight god help ya..lol yes i know dave can be ugly and i know john in no angel either..i have no problem at this point and time with either party involved..and i beleive what ted wrote to be very close to true..i believe this because david butts is taking a break from hobby world..atthis point it doesn't matter who is right and who is wrong..you both should take a break from the track..if you dont turn yourselves in than i can come up there friday night and get in a fight with phil owen knowing nothing is gonna happen to me when i do it..you see where this is going? you are setting an example now...it's ok to call others names and use foul language and fight one another...30 days away when you come back 60 days probation.. this should deter something like this from happening in the future? and it should work on anyone..john be the good guy and lend the scoring system to someone you trust and step away from hobby world for 30 days ..dave P will have to do the same...if you guys come back you are going to be watched for 60 days ...i know it sounds corny..but if you let this go unpunshished now someone will do the very same thing and expect to have nothing done to him as well..i know i would! the ball is in your court john..what happens at hobby world will depend on you..i am asking you because you own the scoring system and you know what happened cant go without punishment of some kind? i hope i'm not out of line? i like hobby world and dave butts and hate to see it ruined....

Glad to hear ya'll talked on the phone and this is on it's way behind us ALL..Katfish had some good points but I think it will be fine without losing two good racers. We lost Butts though and that's a mighty blow to the fun factor. Hope he comes back A.S.A.P. :(

yeah i understand words of wisdom from my mouth mean very little...but if one gets away with it than all get away with it..i'll copy this entire thread onto disk and save it for that one time i go up to hobby world. i will use it as my get out of jail free card,lol..if and when this happens in the series i will have to make the very same choices. and i know if i let it slide for one of my best friends than i have no legs to stand on with anyone else either. and i know john could take his scoring system to a parking lot and start his own club at any time. but i think john will do the right thing.

Thank you guys for settling this...DITTO!!!!:thumbsup: As with any battle,there's gonna be some casualties (Dave,John),fatalities (Butts?) & collateral damage (tarnished image on HW/Jax r/c scene). We all have to remember that if a situation arises like this again (Hopefully not!),we must think about it BEFORE we shoot! Settle the difference in a humane way that will not make any or all of us look like jacka**es. Or there will be more fatalities! (more lost drivers,no race program,etc) It could be worse!!!!

the drivers get penalized heavly for there action on the radio and on the track! the fans get upset when the race ends under cation and throw beer cans..nascar takes away points and hands out fines for naughty drivers..they do this to deter it from happening again..if nothing is done i will remember that next time i dont bite my tongue..that was my point...it does take 2 and both should be banned for a little while..no biggie whatever happens or doesn't happen it will come back to haunt everyone i'm sure.

We now realize there are many people that stop by on Friday nights. They check out the racing to see what we are doing. They watch the races, walk by the pits and observe all of us. We would never know who they are. Well the past two weeks we also had another visitor. You all may have noticed this gentleman watching and observing us work and race our toy cars. He too is thinking about getting into our hobby. He mentioned he needed to do something on Friday nights and our hobby looked fun. He said he will be back this Friday to watch and observe like the other visitors we've had. I suggest we approach these potential racers and help them make up their minds and answer their questions. I just happened to know this guy so I asked him if was thinking about getting a car. As I look back, I did the same thing before getting back into this hobby. I went to watch the races at the Argyle church, OP Kmart parking lot, Hooters, HW, offroad races at the pit and Keystone. A friend of ours noticed I was watching the races and asked me when I was going to get a car. I told him I was just watching and he told me I'll be racing soon then at a HW race he remember me who I was. Well I guess Butts (tm) was right. I am back to racing :)

Anyways...we need to approach our visitors and see how we can help them get interested in our hobby :thumbsup:

Hey guys, I guess I have followed the drama but when I wanted to post the moment was gone and I was always behind. Just like on the track. Any how katfish has made some comments as far as the involved drivers taking some time off to cool down a little. Apparently Dave P. has done this on his own. I have known John for a long time now and I do know he has big shoulders and admits when he is wrong even when it hurts a little. He has apologized for his actions and has posted that he will apologize at the track as well if needed. Do you feel he should also be asked to take some time off. Im sure he would bring the transponder system and we can run the races with the same guys that run it every week. Just courious on what everyone thinks. My opinion he realizes the damage has been done and is willing to accept partial blame. I dont see where there would be an issue with him coming back as soon as this week and there has been enough discussed that any future incidents should expect some type of penalty.......

I am sorry that the truth hurts. I am just a totally basis person who came to watch the racing to see what it was like. I told it like a saw it. I think it is wrong that nothing is being down to this John guy. it is also wrong that the guy with the 17 car and this Butts guy won't race anymore. How many more people will you guys run off before something is done? I also think it is wrong that everybody is telling me to stay out of it. It is a free world still right? Anyways I'll take my business elsewhere you guys have fun.
