Better late than never. Had to join in the discussion. George thinks he is going to beat me this series.......ha!......Last Friday, my batteries dumped with 5 seconds to go, got nailed on the back stretch, broke 2 shocks and the T plate, and still finished ahead of george. Oh................I was using a streak!

Furthermore, Sunday's practice was total domination by the "streak Master".
I out ran George with an old C-2 and batteries vs. George's 11 turn...

Look forward to this series guys!!!!!

George's Series Prediction

Here we go George. Last Friday night, my batteries dumped with 8 seconds to go, got punted on the back stretch, broke 2 shocks and the T plate, and still finished ahead of George.....oh, and I was using a streak!!!

Furthermore, Sunday's practice was a total "Streak Master" domination. I continued to pound George with an old C-2 and Batteries vs. George's 11 turn.

George? Just please remeber to go high in one and two as I lap you next Friday!

Look forward to the series guys!!

David Butts

Butts tm, what tires do I need to run down there in 19t?
Clifford. We all are running pretty much the hardest thing we can get to work so that they last. With stock I was using purple fronts and magenta rears(all I have is TRC) and I got the whole 7 race points series with the same set.

With the extra speed of 19t the purple right front is basically a one night stand tire and that gets expensive quick. Several of the fast guys are using a red right front with purple everywhere else but one or two guys are having good luck with purple all the way around.

Me? I'm still searching for that perfect set up. It all comes down to bringing every foamie you have and turn some laps. Good runs on saturday too if I may add. Guys, If Cliffords car works and he drives like he did at branford last saturday night we'll all be in trouble when he comes back.

ok i gotta step in here...

billy bruce has the single fastest lap at hobby world correct? 3 pinks and a purple right front.

mike boylan holds the current track record correct? 3 pinks and a purple right front

billy used jacos mike boylan ran trc's

tire wear at hobby world the night we were there was AWESOME! on a scale of 1-10 for tire wear it was maybe a 3 with 10 being the speedway spectacular surface or 50 grit sand paper...

the mis conception alot of guys have is to try a pink rear without geting rid of that nasty red rf tire. now i'm sure a red rf tire works great! and i'm no hobby world expert by a long shot..but i do tend to notice what the fast guys run..and right now the 2 fastest cats at hobby world used 3 pinks and a purple..mike boylan was almost running on rims i think they were 2.08 size tires i think when he got there that night they were under 2.15 he ran 3 packs in practice another pack before the main and 3 packs for racing..if that night was a common night for tire wear i would say you all have it very lucky... strickland is on par with hobby world as far as tire wear goes and none of us use a red rf tire..i own 1 red rf and it was for tuffys..and tuffys should be caps...

if that night we picked to come up was a fluke or a extra good night at hobby world than go with what you have always run...the lack of sugar water on the track and the amount of dust you get the 1st run makes forward bite hard to find with purple rears..harder is not always faster... i can see where a red tire and 3 purples would make for tires that last 4 ever though..but you gotta pay for speed...imagine if billy and mike were locals? you would either run 3 pinks and a purple or move over every friday night? after awhile you would pony up for the rubber... does this make sense? not being a smart a$$ but i think you can all go faster if you think outside the box? the best part is you all have something to shoot for..mike and billy are fast everywhere they go..some day when i grow up i wanna be like mike! ahahahha

oh and david butts you have a good set-up and you have the speed...try the 3 pinks and a purple one time..please....

Thanks for the info,Fish! The funny thing is that when I ran Pro-Spec,I ran an Orange on the RF (hardest of the 3 spec compounds). I used to run the Oranges into the ground in 2 race nights! Your comment about either move over or pony up for the tires held true for me in Spec. Even though the Spec tires are a bit cheaper than the other ones,I still had to buy a set every 2 weeks.
I'll have to try the 3 pinks/1 purple setup this Friday night.

I put a post up on the touring site so no "hey isnt this the oval thread". Just want to make sure everyone gets the message. We will be out at the track today around 5or6 to redo the road course. It will be in the infield and touring will not be using the oval section anymore. This way if need be both classes can practice with out hitting head on. Touring will be on the front stretch around the legends oval to go through the lap counter and then right back to the infield. Dave P put the layout on here I think on mon. If you wanted to check it out. IF YOU WANT TO HELP WE'LL BE THERE AROUND 5 OR 6 AS LONG AS it isn't raining to bad. If you don't help don't complain about the way it is set up. If you are there then you will have a chance to voice your opinion. It doesn't lay itself out and it's alot of work. last time Bear, Dave P,Myself, Both Eugenes, Brad, Ray,Dave Butts were the only ones that reshaped the current layout. Alot of people were complaining that it was to much and to tight and boo hoo hooed and didn't help at all . So I ask that if you want to help great if not keep your comments to yourself If you don't like it. This is to the Touring people only you know who you are. Thanks Guys!!!

lol i posted the fast guys tire set-ups i never want the guys set-up in the b main! lol

i have ran 3 pinks and a purple rf at alot of outdoor tracks over the last 5 years..i have never ran a red right front ever in 5 years..except at tuffies..like i said tuffies should be caps..

dave are you going to strut around all year about a local club race? c'mon bro where were you at the last focar race? how about race rock? turkey shoot at minnreg? hmmmmmmm if finishing last in the A at a club race tweaks those nips than your lucky...

ronny hames used bsr pink lr bsr double pink rr bsr double purple rf and bsr double pink lf on his adx ride..i ran 2 pink rear bsr a double pink lf bsr and a purple rf bsr..i trued up 4 sets of tires for hobby world and left every single tire i own at home...seems i forgot to pack them! ouch! one thing i dont do..is post losing or slow set-ups...i was in the B and off the pace with 34 laps all night..i will be back and hope to run 35....like i said when i grow up i wanna be like mike!

thanks for not taking what i posted as a nasty post..

i along with all of you am searching always for a better set-up..think about it for awhile..you do all you can and dont go any faster? but you dont stray away from what you think works...all you know is the guy next to you runs what you do..so it must be right? than a outsider rolls up and lays down some fast laps ..but his set-up is off the wall..was it luck? nope...he just doesn't know any better so he uses what he knows works for him...boylan was told that pinks dont work...he didn't listen...he was fast...lol and billy bruce would have to be paid to run a red right front tire...lol

oval isn't always about spending money to go fast..but on ocassion the right tire choice can be key to fast laps..cutting corners on tires could be costing you a tenth or more..and what realy stinks is this...

mike was running some realy small trc tires , like i said they were under 2.10 almosty rims..so he went out before the main to scrub in a larger set 2.25 diameter..same componds same trc tires...the car stunk up the joint..it looked like he was running on ice...the taller tire actualy killed the handling of his car..not just a little..alot! he had to run the rims to run fast...i buy tires like you all do and so does mike..taking a new set and cutting them down from 2.40 to 2.20 is sick! but i'm willing to bet when you find yourself running fast it might be your on some smaller tires...i witnessed it...and now i believe..i knew carpet rims were fast..but oustide as well.... yikes!

GEORGE: again i checked my pm's and found one of yours..in all honesty i found my car got better as i moved my batts forward...but 34 laps is not fast! lol

i watched phil owens car in that main and he had a rocket! i myself will be found rooting around in his pits next hobby world visit! lol

if you guys want i can post billys and mike boylans set-ups on here? both those guys have no problem helping the other racers...mike runs a associated and billy runs a 10 year old adx car! errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and phil i know has posted his hobby world set-up on jakes web site...you all need to post some basic info like that for the new guys or out of town racers...and remember a hyperdrive needs something different from a 10L4 and so on....what works on jerrys car might be a turd on a 10L4...i know the adx has lots of rear bite..i know the maverick has lots of front bite..i think a 10L4 has good all around bite..kinda neutral in handling...i know everything i ever knew about my adx ride got thrown out the window with my maverick...there just night and day different...

shawn if i get those set-ups maybe you can find room for them on your site? you do a good job with that site..something i think that is just taken for granted...it's time taken away from other things you could be doing...keep it up!

[QUOTE=katf1sh]lol I posted the fast guys tire set-ups I never want the guys set-up in the b main! lol[QUOTE]

Aha! But some people may want the "B" main set up if they're stuck in the "C". Setups are like tools. You can never have too many but you always have a favorite for a particular job.

And just to make you happy my car now has three pinks and a purple on it just incase we get to race this friday:tongue: . Seems I have some so I may as well try them. My car the night you guys came up had a purple rf, Black lf and a narrow(1.5") black lr and a standard width black on the right. Whats strange about that is those same tires when tried in stock didnt work, car was loose off turn four but with the extra speed and susequent increased airflow of 19t the car was almost dialed. Wear is why I didnt stay with that combo. I'll try whatever's in my box but my box is looking bleak. Come'on raffle tires I need'em.

When Hobby World decided to lay down the new surface, I thought it was time that we put the results up for the track. George does a lot of work on the site as well and it wouldn't be up there without him.

All setups are welcome (especially the track record holders ;) ), email them to shawnleary@comcast.net or just post it here and I'll copy/paste.

Weather Forecast
By the First Coast Weather Team
T-storms that lingered late into the night last night (Thurs) will reignite again today but more to the south vs. the north. Afternoon highs will head toward the mid 90's as we head toward the weekend. Also the tropics are showing a bit of action .We will keep you updated on. Meteorologist Tim Deegan

It's rained in the afternoon here all week, but only for up to 10 mins in different parts of town. Supposed to get into the 90's tomorrow. Any rain that falls will dry-up quickly. Unless Pilgrim rains r/c parts onto the track! lol
