The weekend looks great. I'll see ya'll at the track. Tony Tim Mc 08-13-2004, 10:39 PM ????? B.A. Sanders 08-13-2004, 11:35 PM 1. What kind of solder should I use? 2. What should be soldered and what should stay quick disconnect? 3. Do I have to discharge batt. every time? 4. The batt. instruction says to dischcarge with a automotive light, is this a good way? 5. Can I charge batt. when I want, say I don't run it all the way down, can I top it off or do I have to discharge? 6. When not in use, should batt. be discharged, slightly charged, or full charge? 7. The wires to the motor seem small to me, can I increase and what size? 8. Can I solder straight to motor terminals? Charger I have: Dynamite Vision Peak 2, 1amp/2amp/4amp, & 4 to 7 cell. Battery: Pro-Match det5000ctf Thanks, Brent jflack 08-14-2004, 01:12 AM 1. 60/40 flux solder any radio shack 2. personal preference, I solder everthing 3. yes 4. no, get a good tray that takes all the cells to 0v 5. NO, For best performance batteries should peak just before you race! You should always discharge the battery, let it cool to room temp before charging. 6. For stock and 19 turn discharged to 0v then deadshorted, Open mod discharge to .9v per cell and cycle atleast 1 time a week. 7. Neg wire from speed control to motor should be 12 gauge, pos from Battery to motor should be 12 gauge. pos Tap to speed control should be 18 gauge. neg from battery to speed control should be 12 gauge. 8. yes Slider 08-14-2004, 09:05 AM B.A Sanders. The only kicker is if you choose to dead short batteries.you must do it the rest of there life. And you are in need of a charger.one that will charge at least 6.0 amps. I would consider getting the best, and be done with it or you will be buying 2 or 3 before you find what all you need.I would get one that has motor run in feature. both of these have that.Turbo 35 GFX about $400. Lrp pulsar competition about $170  Gotjuice? 08-14-2004, 10:21 AM Going to do some test and tune today around 12ish. Concrete is tonight at 5:30. Hope to see everyone there. Tony Gotjuice? 08-14-2004, 10:24 AM Brett I have a tekin charger that will go up to 9 amps for $45. B.A. Sanders 08-14-2004, 01:20 PM Got Juice, Keep me in mind, I'm going to talk to Chris today. Thanks. B.A. Sanders 08-15-2004, 12:15 AM jflack, thanks for the tips. Slider, I checked into it today. I can't spend the extra money, Chris tried to help me the best he could (thanks chris), Tony and Phillip also thanks. I may just run what I got and get used to this new learning curve and then upgrade. I'm thinking that having a stock motor and speed controler that it won't be that critical to get everything out of that battery-I just want to rub some paint and have fun. Don't worry everyone, I'll be posting for some more help, thanks all. b4wizard 08-15-2004, 01:17 AM B.A.Sanders, With whatever charger you have just be careful with them. If you have a temp gun you can watch to see if they are getting to warm. Usually between 115-140 degrees. Thats the biggest thing with electric, try not to over charge the batteries to much. Later on if you want to upgrade the charger, I like the AC/DC ones. Don't have to spend extra $$$ on power supply. The average motor looks real good with some great batteries. Tommy B.A. Sanders 08-15-2004, 09:00 AM Tommy, Thanks for the tip. I have a temp gun, do you just read the surface temp or the ends of the battery, or where? I have a Pro-match (matched batt.) DET5000CTF Slider 08-15-2004, 09:06 AM B.A Sanders. You can shoot each cell surface temp. B.A. Sanders 08-15-2004, 09:08 AM Thanks Slider, how's your leg been feeling?
